Chapter 17

Ama awoke on a cry of pleasure, falling to the ground with a heavy body landing atop hers.

Arkyn braced himself on his elbows, panting as heavily as she. Her body ached, throbbed, trembled with need.

“Good gravy, are you okay? I didn’t mean to fall on you.” He gasped for air, his face falling to her shoulder as his arms gave way and his body slumped on hers. His erection prodded her, and they both moaned at the contact. “I fell asleep and dreamed of dragons. And now we’re on the ground and why am I so fucking hard right now?”

She knew. Knew, and the knowledge filled her with effervescent light and iridescent wonder. Ama palmed his face and lifted it so she could smile at him. “Well, erections happen during sex, right?”

He shook his head in denial. “I didn’t touch you, I promise.”

“You didn’t touch me. But our dragons did.” She brushed his lips with hers, excitement welling inside her. “I’m a dragon, Arkyn. I have a dragon in me. I wasn’t abducted by aliens, I was just… waiting for the other half of me to wake up. And you’re a dragon, too, and they met in space and… made wild space dragon love. And somehow we created a star. Arkyn, our dragons created a star. A star that will make planets. Planets that will host life. We created a baby solar system.”

“Yeah, we did. Didn’t we? That was amazing.” The harsh worry lines on his face softened, replaced with wonder. He smiled. “Think it’ll call me Dad?”

“Until it’s a teenager, and then it will only grunt at you because you couldn’t possibly understand what it’s going through.”

“Fair enough.” He nodded. “But it’s gonna have a pretty strict curfew.”

Ama giggled. Then slid her bare legs along his jeans. Her dragon might have had its release, but she hadn’t. “Can we talk parenting philosophies later? I think we both have a more immediate need.”

“You betcha.” Arkyn breathed as his lips took hers in a deep kiss.

She arched against him as his lips and tongue plundered hers, and threaded her fingers through his hair, scraping her nails along his scalp and across his shoulders while he moaned into her mouth. He wrapped his arms around her then in a flash, she was on top.

“You’re driving this date, remember?” He murmured as he kissed and nipped along her jaw and down her neck.

His fingers made quick work of the shirt buttons, the shirt falling to the ground so she was completely naked, and she moaned as he palmed her breasts. Ama planted her hands on his chest while the sun warmed her back and Arkyn toyed with her breasts and circled her nipples with his calloused thumbs. She’d let him do that all day long… some other day. Today, right now, she needed more from him.

“It’s no fair. You’re still fully clothed.” She squeezed him with her thighs, desperate to have him buried where she throbbed.

He slanted her a mischievous smile. Before she could question what devious plan he had, her entire body rocked and lurched, shooting upward. Her fingers dug into his chest for purchase, but met scales instead.

He’d shifted. He’d turned into his dragon, and now she straddled a giant blue lizard whose scales were thick and rough like sandpaper on her inner thighs. That might scratch, but Ama was distracted by the power thrumming within this magnificent beast. A power that should scare her, but instead, it called to her. Called to her own dragon, which frolicked beneath her skin—a quick glance down proved her skin had turned a deep magenta, her dragon’s purple scales sliding underneath her translucent skin.

She’d seen this before, and hadn’t known it for what it was.

Just as quickly, his dragon withdrew, plunging her earthward until she straddled a very naked Arkyn.

“What was that?” She gasped, from the brief experience and the proximity of his erection to her core.

He shrugged, his grin cunning. “The quickest way to get naked.”

Then he bucked his hips, his cock bumping her clit so she moaned. She laughed. “Keep bucking like that and this ride won’t last.”

His broad hands covered her thighs as she lifted up to notch him at her entrance. They both moaned at the completeness of it all as she slowly lowered, stretched in the best way possible.

“Odin’s beard, you’re amazing, Ama.” Arkyn gazed up at her, his face flushed with lust and his gaze filled with wonder and adoration.

Safe. Protected. Appreciated. She’d always felt this way around Arkyn. He’d never laughed at her spacey ways. Never pushed her away or questioned her words or choices. Loved. She loved him. “I love you.”

She blurted. Because, that’s what she always did. Before she could think to clarify her words to be more appropriate, he palmed her ass and sat up to kiss those potential words away. When he pulled back, he met her gaze with all the seriousness of a vow. “I love you, too.”

Then he swatted her backside, and his smile turned to a smirk. “Now, Elskr, get to riding this date.”

She matched his smile and rolled her hips, lifting and falling, undulating like a dragon taking to the skies. They bodies heated, rocking together as they moaned and grunted and kissed and touched everywhere they could reach. Her thighs burned and she gasped for air, her heart racing with each thrust. Pleasure zapped down her spine, shooting out to her fingertips and racing around her nipples. He thumbed her clit, circling and gently pinching, skyrocketing her straight into her climax like a shooting star into an eruption.

Ama grabbed him as she screamed her release into his shoulder, his arm tugging her hips flush against him as he roared out his own release.

They tumbled earthward in each other’s arms. When the peaceful spring day finally registered on her senses, Astra was purring and head-butting them both as they lay naked and still connected in Arkyn’s back yard. His cock receded enough to pop out and fluid dribbled down their bodies to the grass beneath. Arkyn traced fingers along her back and arms, then he turned and kissed her flushed, sweaty cheek.

“We, uh, forgot to use a condom.” He murmured.

Ama’s head jerked up, her heart cringing. They’d had two dates, both of which had ended in sex and her declaring her love for this man. What if he didn’t?—

“And for my part, I have no regrets.” Arkyn continued, smiling as he reached up and brushed a lock of hair behind her ear. “If we made a baby—another baby—I’ll stand by both of you. Because I love you and want you in my life permanently.”

She lifted up, bracing herself on his chest. “Are you… saying you want to marry me?”

Surely not. She wasn’t that lucky. Surely he would laugh?—

“I’m saying I want our lives intertwined in the best way possible. If you want that to be determined by something as conventional as marriage, then let’s get married.”

Ama nestled against his chest and he rolled them to the side in the soft grass, their bodies still entangled. Astra climbed her hip, sharp claws making her flinch, and settled at the curve of her waist, purring so loudly it vibrated through her body. The sun warmed her, but not as much as Arkyn’s body against hers. A tender breeze and the earth beneath them cooled them both.

Lives intertwined. Like their bodies were. Like their dragons had been. This morning, Ama had assumed she’d be alone and shunned for the rest of her life. This afternoon, she was contemplating a life with her own personal—and hopefully often naked—Thor. She traced his tree tattoo, her fingertips following the deep path of its roots. Family. Connection. History.

She now knew where she belonged.

Ama nibbled her lips to keep from smiling too big. “Well, I’ve often thought matching tattoos or handfasting might be fun to try.” She kissed him. “But I could do marriage.”

Arkyn chuckled. “Who said we had to choose just one?”

Then he rolled her to her back, dislodging a disgruntled Astra, and kissed her until she was begging for round two.
