Chapter 39 #2
He puffed out a breath as he slid his hands up and down the sides of her waist. “It certainly works for me.”
Her smile was back as she pressed her lips to his again.
He pulled her shirt over her head because they were both still half-dressed. “I want to see you, Lyd.” He unhooked her bra next, staring at her pretty, perky breasts. “Much better.”
She grinned as she took off his shirt. “And now we’re both naked.”
He teased her nipples with his fingers, watching them turn to hard points with his caresses. “I think ‘naked’ is my favorite when it comes to you and me.”
She laughed again.
He chuckled before he kissed her. “I missed that sound, Lyd. I missed everything about you.”
Her smile dimmed as she nodded. “I missed you, too. So much.”
He captured her mouth again, deepening their kiss by degrees, not quite sated after so many days apart.
She hummed in her throat. “Lie down with me, Ty.”
He nodded as he lifted her, falling with her to the middle of the mattress. Settling himself on top of her, he was careful to keep most of his weight on his arms. “How’s this?”
She stroked his hair back from his forehead. “Perfect.”
He’d wanted only this for the last week and a half. Lydia’s flower and vanilla scent. Her soft skin pressed against his. “I want to be with you again.”
She nodded. “I want that, too.”
Staring into her eyes, he pushed himself into her slippery tightness, sighing as she moaned out her pleasure.
He moved slowly, in no hurry, savoring everything about being here with Lydia.
She smiled at him. “I love you, Ty.”
He smiled back, knowing without a doubt that this was exactly where he was supposed to be. Lydia was all that he needed. “I love you, too.”
She wrapped her legs around his waist as she lifted her head to kiss him. “Make me come,” she whispered against his lips.
He raised his brow as her sexy demand shot his libido to a new level. “Your wish, Lyd…”
Her lips curved again before her smile disappeared on a gasp as he picked up his pace.
He moved faster yet, watching her snag her lip with her teeth as she trailed her hands up his sides to clutch at his shoulders as she started to whimper.
Her hips began to gyrate with his fast tempo, her rhythm growing unsteady as her breathing did.
“It sounds like I’m about to make you come,” he said as his own breathing came in fast bursts.
She nodded as her fingers gripped him tighter. “Yes.”
“You’re sure that’s what you want?”
She eagerly nodded with her next gasp. “Yes.”
He angled himself deeper, making sure he hit her just right.
Her legs immediately tightened around him as she froze in an arch, crying out.
Not quite finished, he moved faster, pumping harder, watching her eyes grow wide as she lost her breath while her body convulsed beneath his.
“Ty,” she called on a hoarse scream.
He groaned, loving it when she lost control—that he could make her.
“You,” she struggled to say, holding his gaze as her eyes focused again, even as she still trembled and quaked. “You come.”
He pumped several more times, listening to her sexy breathy noises as he felt his build—as he let his forehead drop to rest against hers, letting himself go with several jerks and loud groans.
“Mmm,” she said as she let her legs fall from around his waist.
He lifted his head, catching his breath, staring at her sweaty, mostly limp, and dazed—her usual state after an extra-intense orgasm. “Are you going to make it?”
She didn’t move. “I think so.”
He grinned. “I love making you come like that, but the recovery seems rough.”
She smiled. “It’s worth it.”
His grin was back as he pressed his lips to hers. “Do you need anything?”
She shook her head. “Just you.”
He sighed, resting his forehead against hers again. “Same, Lyd.”
She lifted her hand to stroke her fingers along the back of his neck. “I’m so glad you’re here, Ty. I love you so much.”
He nuzzled her nose with his. “I’m glad I’m here too, and I love you so much.”
Her fingers stilled against his skin. “You—you gave up your career.”
He lifted his head, holding her gaze, seeing the concern in her big hazel eyes. The last little while had been satisfying and intense—their sexy reunion after too many days apart. Now reality was back. “I’m not sorry that I handed in my resignation.”
“You did that for me, Ty. That feels like a lot. What if you eventually regret it?”
He shook his head. “I won’t. Because I did it for both of us.”
She snagged her bottom lip with her teeth in the way that she did when she worried, even after he said what he said. “I just—I love you, and I love my job. It doesn’t feel right that I get to have both when you can’t.”
He tucked the damp wisps of her hair behind her ear.
“I loved working for the FBI. I loved the excitement and the chase—solving the puzzles and getting assholes off the street. But there’s a price to pay for that.
Long hours. Always putting the job first. I’m not kidding when I tell you that many of my co-workers are divorced or on their second or third marriages. ”
She nodded, frowning slightly, clearly still not convinced.
“Before we met, I never saw anything else for myself,” he told her next, wanting to explain better. “I’ve always been so caught up in my work. I had no idea that I wanted more until you agreed to help me.”
She nodded again.
“We started spending all of our time together and building our own routine. We were making a life together, even if it was slightly fucked up.”
She snorted out a laugh as she rolled her eyes.
He grinned before it faded as he continued stroking her skin. “You didn’t like me much at first.”
She shook her head. “No, I didn’t.”
He smiled, remembering her frosty guard. “But then we became friends.”
She nodded. “We did.”
“I liked you from the beginning, Lyd. Your heart is so big. You’re so beautiful. It didn’t take me long to start falling for you.”
Her eyes went soft. “Ty.”
“Us being together… You showed me a whole different way to be. This is what I want. You. Oliver Heights. Whatever we make.”
She swallowed. “But you don’t want to get married. You don’t want children.”
He shook his head. “That’s not true.”
Her brow furrowed. “You said—”
“I said I couldn’t see that for myself with my career. I don’t have that career anymore. When we’re ready, I absolutely want to marry you.”
She smiled. “You do?”
He nodded, kissing her. “Definitely.” He kissed her again. “And making babies with you. Having little hazel-eyed kids running around…”
“They could have blue eyes.”
He shrugged because it wouldn’t matter. They would be their children—the only thing he cared about. “Spending time with Everly and Maverick. Watching you with Everly and Maverick. I want that, Lyd. I very much want that. When I think of my future, I can’t see it without you in it.”
Her eyes went soft again. “Aw.”
His smile was back. “You said to me once that when you know, you know. I know, Lyd.”
She hugged him. “I really do love you.”
He kissed her neck, savoring her words. “I love you, too.”
“But what about work?”
He shrugged again. “I’ve really liked being a personal trainer. In all honesty, I’ve liked helping your gram-gram the most.”
She blinked. “Really?”
He nodded. “She’s gaining more mobility every time we check in, and she’s up to eight-pound weights for some of her arm exercises. I love that I’m helping her keep her independence.”
“Ty, that’s great.”
He nodded, excited by the new possibilities. “I figure it’ll take me some time to build up a solid client base, but I have a decent chunk of change in my savings because I never spend my money on anything but rent, food, and clothes.”
“I’ll definitely help you get the word out. And Grandpa Roger and Grandma Gail know everyone around here.”
He nodded again. “I’ll need a new website since the one I just had belonged to the FBI. And I don’t know if it makes more sense to partner with a gym or rent a space of my own, but I really think I can make this work.”
“Of course you can.”
“I guess the good news is that if I can’t, I can always get my PI license or do criminal-based consulting. There are several options, but I want to try this first.”
She cupped his cheeks. “You can do anything that you want to do. I believe in you.”
He winked, loving the fierceness of her belief. “My biggest cheerleader.”
She grinned. “Absolutely.”
“And she’s sexy as hell, so good for me.”
She laughed.
He chuckled as he slid his finger along her jaw. “I imagine I should get my own place for a while.”
Her frown was back. “Why?”
“I don’t know,” he said with a shrug. “I don’t want to rush you into anything.”
“I don’t feel rushed. I feel like you’re home with me, where you belong.”
He sighed, perfectly content with life. “You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”
She pressed her lips to his. “Right back at you.” She nipped at his chin next. “So, you’ve ravished me twice already tonight. What else should we do on your first night home?”
He grinned as he looked toward the windows in the near darkness. “I think we should shower, find something to eat, then end up right back here.”
She waggled her brow. “I like your plan.”
“I thought you might.” He got up, lifting her into his arms, heading toward the en suite. “Shower sex in your Virginia bathroom. This will be a new one for us.”
She kissed him. “It’s our bathroom.”
He grinned, liking the sound of that. “Our bathroom.”
