Chapter 24 #2
Since Jawan asked me not to be in touch with Noah, I had changed my entire schedule at school.
I went to school on opposite days and times.
Jawan never told me why his feelings about Noah changed all of a sudden, but I knew better than to ask him about it.
We have been getting along good, at least outside of him hassling me about these babies.
I was further along than I thought I was, twenty-one weeks, and I was happy about it.
The sooner I get these kids out of me, the better.
Dr. Roman imagined the babies coming a lot sooner than my due date and wanted me to rest as much as possible, so I decided that today would be my last physical day here at school. I was going to go fully virtual, so I could follow the doctors and Jawan’s orders.
It seemed like time flew at school today, and I was a little sad that it was my last day because I did appreciate my little break away from my husband and kids.
After gathering my things, I regretted making Dirk wait at the car because I definitely didn’t want to carry all of this stuff.
I tossed my book bag over my shoulder, grabbed my purse and books and headed out of the classroom.
Of course, my face was buried in my phone because Jawan sent a picture of him and the girls as I was walking out so I ran into someone.
“Never paying attention woman,” I heard Noah say as he bent to pick up the things I dropped.
“Noah?” I looked around and noticed we were alone. “What are you doing here?” I asked taking my stuff from his hands. He took a step back and stuffed his hands into his pockets.
“I’ve been calling and texting you, to no avail. You changed your whole schedule on me, I thought we were good. Is it something that I did wrong?”
“No, you didn’t do anything to me. This just worked better for me.”
“Better for you or better for Jawan?” he asked in a clipped tone.
“For me and my family. Look, I need to get going.” I tried to step around him, but he stepped into my path.
“Noah what are you doing? Move,” I demanded, narrowing my eyes into slants.
I was kicking myself in this moment for not listening to Jawan and making sure my detail was at least outside of the classroom.
“Naw, your new schedule doesn’t work for me. I tried to do things your way, and on your terms, but things aren’t moving in the direction that I need them to.”
His tone had me suddenly uneasy, so I lifted my phone to call Jawan, but he snatched it out of my hand and grabbed my wrist pulling me towards the door that led out of the side of the building.
Panic started to set in when I realized he was trying to kidnap me, so I grabbed the mace out of my purse and sprayed him in the eyes.
When he let go of me, I took off running towards the door that led out of the building where my car was parked.
Dirk was standing outside of the car when I rushed out of the door and he quickly moved my way.
“Mrs. Jones, is everything okay? Are you hurt?” he examined me from head to toe before he helped me into my truck.
I drove here, but in the state I was in, there was no way that I could drive back.
When Dirk was in the car, and we were moving he grabbed his phone to call and report to Jawan I’m sure.
“Can you not say anything? He’s going to want to speak to me and I don’t want to hear him fuss right now, plus he’s probably going to kill you for not going in with me.
” When I said that last part, he considered what I said.
Jawan already didn’t want me going with Dirk alone because Dirk gave me my space, but if and when he found out about this, he was going to flip the fuck out for sure.
We were finally pulling into our driveway and Jawan was standing in front of the house waiting on me.
“Tio, you ain’t see me fucking calling you?
It took you fifteen more minutes than it usually does to get home,” he fussed as soon as I got out of the car.
“Wait how the fuck is your phone showing you still at school when you standing in front of me.” I didn’t say anything when he stopped talking because I was trying to figure out a way to say it without him flipping his shit.
I guess he grew impatient waiting on the answer because he started snapping his fingers in my face. “Hello! You don’t hear me talking?”
“How can I not, Grim? You’re screaming in my face.”
“Well, you’re not answering me fast enough, and what the fuck you standing right here looking all stupid and shit for?” he mugged Dirk.
“Jawan!”
“Shut up, Tio. Talk nigga,” he directed at Dirk, who looked at me like he was about to shit himself.
“Uh-uh, Mrs. Jones had a run in today.”
Jawan frowned. “A run in with who?”
“I’m not sure, sir,” he answered.
Jawan let out a low chuckle. “How are you not sure when you were with her? Was it a stranger or some shit?”
“I don’t know, sir.”
As soon as he answered the question, he hit Dirk so hard that he fell into my truck. He didn’t stop there, he continued to pummel Dirk until he was no longer trying to defend himself.
“Jawan, that’s enough!” I screamed through my tears.
He stood up and stared at Dirk before he pulled his phone and made a call for someone to come get him. When he was done, he turned his attention to me.
“Go in the house and wait on me, Tiomi.”
“It wasn’t his fault, baby.”
“It fuckin’ was his fault!” he roared. “I tell you and this nigga all the time that he has a job, and that’s to be with you and protect you at all times, and he constantly drops the ball to make you happy.”
His chest was heaving up and down, so I knew he was extremely mad right now. “I know Jawan bu—”
“Go. The. Fuck. In. The. House. Bruh,” he gritted. I turned on my heels and went inside.
I knew he was pissed, and I didn’t want to make it worse than what it was.
When I got inside, I went straight to my girls room’s.
Neither of them were here and I should have known that, because Jawan would never leave them in here while he was outside.
I decided that I would go ahead and hop in the shower.
I was pretty sure what ever business he was handling would be done by the time I got out.
I spent about thirty minutes in the shower before I got out and went into the room where Jawan was waiting.
“What is it that you don’t get about me doing this for your safety, Tio?”
I made my way into his personal space and stepped in between his legs to answer. “I get it baby, I really do. Sometimes this shit is overwhelming for me, and I need to feel normal, and Dirk gives that to me. I don’t blame him for what happened today, it was all on me. He insisted and I declined.”
“But his job isn’t to insist Tiomi, it’s to do what the fuck I said. No disrespect Baby but you don’t pay him, I do. When I tell him to trail you that’s what I expect his soft ass to be doing. Anything could have happened you and my kids, then I would have had to murder the nigga’s entire lineage.”
“I’m sorry.”
“I’m glad y’all are okay.” He placed his hand on my belly. “The girls are with Star and Darren.”
I nodded my head. I just wanted to lay down and sleep. Today was a lot and I wasn’t in the mood to do shit but sleep, and that’s exactly what I did. As soon as my head hit the pillow.
Chy, Star and I waited inside of Shad’s office for Nia to meet us here. I hit her up yesterday and told her that I wanted to thank her for letting me know what Jawan had going on at the shop when I wasn’t home.
“Star did you bring what I asked you to bring?”
“Yeah, sis, are you sure you want to do this? JJ is going to flip if he ever gets wind of this.”
“Well, it’s going to be too late by then. Chy fix us some drinks, she’s gone be here in a minute.”
See I had a nice evening planned for Ms. Nia, and I needed to get it done before Jawan starts blowing my phone up about me being gone.
I had a little leeway since this time I actually volunteered to bring Rex along for my fun.
The day that she came in Jawan’s office on the messy shit, it made me roll the cameras back to see if I could find out anything about this missing money and sure enough you got lil’ baldy coming in the office and getting on the computer.
The camera didn’t show the computer screen, but it got my wheels turning enough to contact Tech about it.
I also had the banks provide me with receipts from the wires that’s showed the dated and times and sure enough Tiomi Davis was transferring the money.
The first thing that came to mind was how I was transferring money in Florida when I was in Mexico that week.
I again had reached out to Tech with the information I had and to have him get the security pull the footage from the banks, and low and behold, Nia was making the wire transfer into her nigga’s account.
We found that out after researching the account number.
My phone vibrated in my purse and it was Nia letting me know that she was outside. I let Rex know to walk her up when she came inside so it was almost showtime. I purposely left the door open so when she got up the steps, she came straight into the office.
“Hello ladies,” she sang.
The three of us spoke and I offered her a seat and the drink we made.
“So, Nia, again I invited you here to thank you. I would have never found out about that hoe being in his office.”
She smiled and replied, “Oh girl it was nothing. I know how men like Grim are, they never appreciate a good woman when she’s right there in their face.”
