Chapter 17 #3

I wanted to go to a better place in my mind, but what was the point? Where could I go that meant anything to me now? I’d never see the ocean. I’d never live in a cottage by the sea. All I had left was this.

Snake grunted, thrusting his hips into my face. Spit dribbled down my chin and I could taste the saltiness of precum on my tongue. I didn’t want to swallow. I didn’t want to be reminded of him later when I ran for the safety of my room.

He took his time with his cock in my mouth, and I let him. If I played the part, I’d have him coming in no time. Snake was no different to the men back in The Grey. They were all the same, and nothing and no one could change my mind.

I gasped the moment he pulled out, dragging air through my nose to catch my breath. Slender fingers that haven’t seen a day's hard work wrapped around my arm, yanking me up off the floor.

“On the bed,” he demanded.

I stumbled towards it, but before I could put myself into position, he pushed me face down on the blankets, bent at the hips, and ass up for his viewing. He shoved the lace of my dress to the side, and then I braced myself.

Snake rammed his length into my warmth. My fingers curled in the black satin fabric on the bed, biting my tongue against the sharp pain shooting through my core.

He pulled out and thrust back in again. “You take me so well.”

The pouch of gold still sat on the floor. My eyes locked onto it, and I thought about all the cinderleaf I would be able to buy, burying my sorrows, one drag at a time.

I arched my back, wiggling my hips like I was enjoying myself. “Stuff me fuller.”

Snake moaned as he picked up the pace. Only a few more minutes, I could feel it.

He was thickening by the second. Perhaps Victoria was right, that this was no worse than what I’d endured before.

I’d get the king off, and then I would take his gold, buy some cinderleaf, supplies, and run away to the forest.

I could live out the rest of my days self sufficient in the woods.

“Yes, Your Highness, right there,” I moaned. “Faster.”

Snake dragged his nails down my back, pumping into me like it’s the last thing he’d do, so I matched his intensity with moans and whimpers. Anything to make him think he was the best lover I’d ever had.

My eyes locked on the wall in front of me, and finally I zoned out, sending my mind to a place that was far from here. A place that smelled like salt, and felt like home. A place where Meeka would visit and we’d have tea together in dainty porcelain cups.

Snake grunted behind me. He had to be close to his release. He’d been at it for a good few minutes now, although who knew how long someone from this realm could last for.

He pulled out, and the void of him was a welcomed relief, but it didn't last long. “Flip,” his voice was low, full of need.

I hesitated, and he sensed it. I should have just obeyed.

His hand came down on my ass with a sharp slap. My back arched into the sting, a slight whimper escaping my lips.

Snake threaded his hands into the blue tendrils at the back of my neck, yanking it so I looked to the ceiling. I couldn’t stop the shiver that ran through me, when his lips brushed the edge of my ear. “I said flip.”

“Yes, Snake,” I murmured, my voice shaking as I flipped over onto my back to face him.

He didn’t smile, or smirk for a lack of better words. He climbed half onto the bed, one knee up near my face, while the other foot remained on the floor, keeping him upright, then proceeded to pump his cock with his fist until he grunted, spurting warm fluid all over my face.

The shock didn’t register for a brief moment. I didn’t think I’d ever let anyone come on my face before. To me, it was degrading. A sign of a master marking its slave with ownership. And here I was on my back, covered in his seed like a branding.

I fought back the tears. Of course, to him, I was just a means to an end. Women like me always were, but I wouldn’t let him see me cry. Not today. Not ever.

“Thank you, Your Highness,” I whispered, my voice calm and steady.

He pushed off the bed, reached for his towel and threw it at me. “Clean yourself.”

I didn’t hesitate to obey this time.

The room was heavy with the scent of sex and smoke. Snake didn’t bother to dress. He sauntered across the room to sit in a chair by the fire, eyes on me the entire time I changed back into the clothes I’d arrived in, feeling for the ribbon in my pocket like it was a lifeline.

Once I’d laid the lace dress back onto the bed, I walked across the room to stand in front of him. His cold grey eyes trailed over me, from head to toe. “Don’t you run off too far, Sapphire,” he said, his voice not quite a threat. “Our fun has only just begun.”

I offered him a half smile, trying my best to look like I had it all together. If I showed him any form of weakness, there was no doubt in my blackened soul that he would use it against me. “Thank you, Snake.”

He nodded once, relieving me of my duty. I spun on my heel, back straight, head held tall, and walked from the room with a black velvet sack full of coins.

The moment I was outside the castle gates, I ran like a hound out of hell.

And I didn’t look back.
