Chapter 25

TWENTY-FIVE

TATIYONNA

I sat in my car and watched the house that Kileen was supposed to be out of.

He wasn’t home, but Siya was there. I wasn’t sure what he was telling her, but it was time for me to break the truth to her.

Getting out of my car, I sent Jah a text and told him I was okay.

He had already checked my location and didn’t like the fact that I was alone.

I made my way up to the door and rang the doorbell.

Siya answered the door with her daughter holding on to her pant leg. I glanced inside the home to see that nothing was packed. My intuition was right about Kileen. He wanted this young girl to think everything was fine, and I was the problem.

“Look, I’m not here to start with you.” I pulled the paperwork out of my bag. “Y’all have less than twenty-four hours to vacate this house. I’m not sure what your man is telling you about our divorce, but this is my house, and I need y’all out.”

“What? Kileen bought this house for me.”

“Of course he did, sweetheart. Unfortunately, he purchased this house while we were still married. It belongs to me. Now, I don’t know what you need to do,” I looked at my watch.

“Twenty-four hours go by fast. This is a lot of house to pack up. Anything that’s left in here when I come and change the locks with the police will go in the trash. ”

“Why are you so evil?” She fought back tears. “Everything he said about you was right.”

“I’m evil?” I laughed. “Whatever he told you about me, believe it. I don’t even have the time or energy to sit here and school your little ass. The only person I feel sorry for is your daughter.”

“You never gave a damn about her. Kileen told me that much.”

“I never desired to have a connection with her because I was hurt. The same hurt I felt, you or your daughter will feel. You played a major part in my hurt. Just know that if karma doesn’t come for you, it will come for her.

She is a beautiful little girl. Looks just like her daddy.

Start packing, Siya. And if your man needs to get in contact with me, he can call my man on this card.

Have a good rest of your day,” I said as I handed her the business card.

Jah was calling as I got back in the car.

“Aye, you’ve been at that location too long, so I’m on the way,” Jah said before I could say anything.

“I’m leaving now. Calm down.”

“I’m not calming down when I don’t know if you're safe. Where are you headed now? You need to come home so I can eat your pussy. You got my nerves bad.”

“Jah, I thought you had meetings today.”

“Shit, a meeting can wait. Bring your ass home, please.”

“I’m on the way.”

“Bet,” he said before he hung up.

Jah was waiting for me to walk in the door. Since I had gotten pregnant, sex with Jah had intensified. We already couldn’t keep our hands off each other, but now, he was so attentive to my needs and trying to make sure I was comfortable.

“What they got going on over there?” Jah asked as he kissed and walked me to his office.

“They haven’t moved or packed anything. I talked with Siya and let her know they had twenty-four hours to be out before the police came.”

“If you had let me and your dad handle it, they would’ve been out, and the house could’ve been rented out by now.”

“You don’t have to solve all my problems, Jah. Especially problems that accumulated before we made it official. I feel like I should handle it.”

“Am I your man?” He asked as he looked me in my eyes.

“Of course.”

“Well, let me be that. Now lay back so I can eat you to sleep.”

And he did just that. Made me cum twice and then carried me to the bed, pulled the cover up on me, and went and had his business meetings.

When I woke up, Jah had flowers and food waiting on me. Months had gone by since I had been in this house with him, and he had not stopped being a lover boy. The flowers still showed up, he still opened doors, and he still delivered everything he said he would.

“I love you.” He kissed my lips.

“I love you, too.”

“I did a thing today,” he told me.

“What did you do?”

“I bought you some land to build another house. This time, you get to build it for your family. Now it may not be ready before the baby gets here, but we can get it started. I know you’re comfortable here, and you got your other house, but I wanted us to have something.

We both established that without each other.

This will be our home for our children and grandchildren. ”

He pulled the picture out and it was over seven acres. I don’t know how many children he expected me to have. We didn’t need that much space, but I was appreciative as hell.

“That’s a lot of land, Jah.”

“Well, I want the kids to be able to play outside and not have to worry about anyone. You can have all these damn birthday parties and shit there. I just feel like this house is too modern for what you want to do.”

“Thank you, baby.”

“Why don’t you sound happy?”

“Because I had a house built for the same reason and we see how that ended up.”

“Man, I ain’t going nowhere. Are you?” He lifted my chin.

“Not unless…”

“Don’t play with me, Tatiyonna. I’m strict with the dick, and who can compare to you, baby?

You’re carrying my first child; you get along with my family.

Your dad is my partner. Like, what the fuck do I look like messing all of this?

I’m not the man that chasing a woman, and when he gets the woman, he dogs her out. That ain’t even in my character.”

“I believe you. Every now and then, I need the reassurance.”

“And I’ll reassure you every time. We locked in, baby.”

He held his hand out for our handshake.

The next morning, Jah and I got dressed to head back to see if Kileen and Siya had vacated the premises.

The police had a court order, and if they hadn’t packed, they had to leave and everything in the house was now in my possession.

Jah helped me out of the car and we walked in hand in hand with the police officer leading the way.

Before we could knock or ring the doorbell, Siya snatched the door open with her crying daughter on her hip.

“Please, I need a few more hours. Kileen never made it home last night, and I’ve been trying to pack up my daughter’s stuff and a little of my stuff,” she pleaded.

“I’m sorry, ma’am, but we have a court order. You need to leave the premises now,” the officer told her.

Hearing that Kileen didn’t come home wasn’t a surprise.

Being how he played tricks with me, he was probably already on to the next best thing.

As she continued to plead and cry with the officer, I didn’t say anything.

I warned her yesterday that this would happen, but she waited around on a nigga that didn’t give a shit about anything but himself.

“She can have thirty minutes to get her and her daughter some clothes, after that, she has to go,” I said loud enough for her to hear me.

Jah and I sat in the car while I watched her struggle to get as much as she could in thirty minutes.

“I want to help her, but a part of me loves what I see,” Jah said.

“I wish you would get out of this car and help her.”

“Ohhh, my bad. I thought I was being a gentleman.”

“I don’t mind you being a gentleman but be it to someone who’s deserving. Had she kept her legs closed, she wouldn’t be in this situation.”

Jah looked over at me. “Had she not, we probably wouldn’t be together.”

“Actually, you had booked your appointment before I found out Kileen was cheating. We would’ve met either way,” I told him.

“Not if you didn’t find out about the cheating. You would’ve looked right past me because you had a loving husband at home.”

“Ehh, I would’ve looked at you. I mean, you were fine as hell the day I met you. Would I have had sex with you? No. But you would have got looked at for sure.”

“Oh, so you got wondering eyes when you see a fine man. Let me know now before you become Mrs. Grant. I would hate to pluck your muthafuckin’ eyes out.”

“I’m going to be Mrs. Grant regardless. You know I only got eyes for you, baby.”

“You better.” Jah laughed.

We watched Siya strap her daughter in and pull off in her car.

Once everything was clear, the officer left us with the house.

For a minute, my feelings got the best of me.

How could I forget barging in this same house?

All the pictures were still in the same place.

The last time I was in here, the house was a little cleaner.

Now that the baby was a toddler, I understood the toys and fruit snack wrappers.

“Wow! Is this what you saw that night you caught him?” Jah walked around looking at the pictures.

“Pretty much. I didn’t really look hard enough, but he actually looked happy in these pictures. Maybe she is where he really wanted to be. I was just in the way, trying to make some shit work.”

“We’re not about to do that.”

We took the stairs and I entered the master bedroom.

I wish I had beat his ass a little more that night.

Standing in his ass in a towel and lying to Siya, saying he had to run off.

She had no idea about me and that’s why I felt bad for her at first. It was only when I found that she was still messing with him when we got back together that made me turn cold towards her.

Now she was left homeless and didn’t know where her man was.

After Jah called his people to come and clear the house out, we headed home for the evening.

I had a taste for some salmon and Jah knew how to cook it just right.

We sat and ate dinner together when the news flashed across the screen of Siya crying on the news about her husband being missing since yesterday morning.

The picture of Kileen came across the screen.

“Shit, they got married before we did,” Jah joked.

“Kileen is not missing. His scary ass is somewhere embarrassed because he didn’t want to tell that girl the truth. I feel bad for her.”

Jah grabbed the remote and turned the television off.

“Let sleeping dogs lay, baby. That chapter of your life is over,” he said, leaning and giving me a kiss.

I guess in the end, karma always circles back around. In the words of my girl Casi, God don’t play about me.
