Chapter 14
Stay Frosty!
Two months later
Weston
“I ’m home!” I shout as I open the door to my apartment. Correction. Our apartment.
Scarlett moved in a month ago. She wasted no time returning to Florida to pack up her life. She gave notice on her apartment and sold all of her furniture. I arrived in time to help her load up her car and drive back to Smuggler’s Hideaway.
“In here!”
I follow Scarlett’s voice to the guest bedroom, which is now her office. She managed to fit a desk in the corner. The room is crowded, but my surprise will solve any issues she has. I hope.
She shuts her computer and smiles up at me. “Hey, you. How was your day? Catch any bad guys? Wrestle any sheep?”
I groan. “You’re never going to let it go, are you?”
“Of course not. I’m a sheep farmer’s daughter. It’s my duty to tease you about how you wrestled a sheep to the ground while yelling ‘You will not defeat me!’ to it.”
I scratch my beard. “It didn’t defeat me, did it?”
“No, but the shit stains on your uniform did.”
I wrinkle my nose. “I didn’t realize I should have pre-washed the shit out of them.” I had to buy a new washing machine.
She shakes her head. “You have much to learn.”
I palm her neck and drag her to her feet. “You going to teach me everything you know, precious?”
Her chest slams against mine and her breath hitches. I watch as her light green eyes flare with heat. I will never get tired of the sight. I’ll be old and gray and need to use Viagra to get a hard-on, but the sight will still make me happy and warm.
“Yes,” she murmurs and pushes up on her toes to reach my mouth.
I press a gentle kiss to her lips. She mewls when I pull away. I tweak her nose. “I have a surprise for you.”
“Please be a new chair for my desk. My back is killing me.”
“Not quite, but you’re close.”
She waits but I don’t continue. “Do I have to guess what the surprise is?”
“No guessing but I have to show you.”
I grasp her hand and lead her out of the bedroom to the front door.
“Where are we going?”
“Put on your shoes and coat and I’ll show you.”
She does as I say and I herd her out of the door to her car. She sighs when I help her into the passenger seat.
“I can drive.”
I kiss her cheek. “It’s my privilege to drive you.”
Her stomach rumbles as we drive out of town. “I hope this surprise includes dinner. I think I forgot to eat lunch.”
I frown. Scarlett often forgets to eat lunch when she’s working.
“I’m going to have to come home for lunch every day if you keep skipping lunch.”
“It’s not as if I’m starving.” She motions to her curves.
“I love those curves. I don’t want them disappearing.”
“No need to worry.”
When we leave Smuggler’s Rest behind, she asks, “Where are we going? We passed all the good restaurants.”
“Almost there.”
She giggles. “We’re on a small island. We’re always almost there.”
I turn into the driveway of Hermit Jeremy’s cabin.
“Are we re-enacting our first weekend together? I didn’t bring any clothes or toiletries.”
I switch off the engine and run around the car to help her out.
“Are you going to explain?”
“In a minute.” I lead her to the front door. There’s a big red bow on it.
“Why is there a bow on the door?”
“Because this, precious, is your surprise.”
“We are re-enacting our first weekend together. I’ll phone Hazel to bring me some supplies.”
I snatch her phone from her and shove it in my back pocket. “Let me show you your surprise first.”
I open the door. “Ta da!”
Candles are blazing on every surface and rose petals cover the floor.
“Weston, this is sweet.” She squeezes my hand. “I never wanted to leave the cabin but it was rented out. I don’t know how you managed to get a booking but thank you.”
She pushes up on her toes to press her lips to mine. I thrust my tongue into her mouth and growl when her spicy taste hits me. I’m addicted to her taste. And her curves. And making her scream my name in pleasure.
I can’t imagine a time when I won’t want to spend all my free time buried deep inside of her. She’s my addiction and I’m not letting her go.
Her stomach rumbles again and I pull away. “I need to feed you.”
“Feed me quick and then we can go test out if the bed is as comfortable as I remember.”
I groan. “Don’t tempt me. You’re hungry.”
We make our way to the kitchen and I open the refrigerator to remove the dinner I had delivered here earlier.
“What’s this?” Scarlett asks.
“What’s what?”
She waves an envelope at me. I duck my chin to hide my grin. “Open it and find out.”
She rips it open and removes the papers. She scans the first page and gasps. “Weston Milton, what did you do?”
“I know the cabin is too small for a family but we can build an addition. There’s already planning permission.”
She freezes. “Family?”
We haven’t talked much about children. “No pressure. When you’re ready.”
“I’m thirty-four Weston. I’m already ready.”
It’s my turn to freeze. “You are? You didn’t say anything.”
“Because you’re a thirty-five-year-old recovering player. I didn’t want to scare you away.”
I shut the refrigerator and stalk toward her. She backs up until she hits the counter. I slam my hands down next to her hips to cage her in.
“You can’t scare me away, precious. I bought this house for us. I’m all in.”
“I didn’t know about the house until a few minutes ago.”
I rub my nose along hers. “What do you say, Scarlett? You want to live in this house and build a family with me?”
She wraps her arms around me. “Yes, Weston. I want everything with you.”
“What the lady wants, the lady gets.” I draw my teeth along her neck until I reach her ear. “I love you, precious.” I nip her earlobe and she shivers.
“Love you, too.”
“Now, let’s go make a baby.”
I shackle her wrist and drag her down the hallway. I can’t wait to experience everything with this woman. She changed my entire outlook on life and I couldn’t be happier.
