Chapter Segment
I lifted a brow. “Really?”
“Yeah.” She grabbed the handle on the truck. “Come on.
Let’s go.”
Ten minutes later, we were on the freeway, headed to Sugar-land.
I was riding shotgun, while my mind was all over the place.
My lawyer was now optimistic about me and my mama beating all the charges.
In the meantime, I’d just bonded out, and I was hoping to have all my charges officially dropped by my next court date in a few weeks.
My lawyer had also mentioned that the D.A.
was definitely going to pursue charges against both Tera and Too Low.
The thing was that I didn’t know when exactly any of this was going down, and I just wanted to shield my girls from all the bull-shit.
Tera had literally changed their phone numbers, switched their schools, and cut off all contact with my family, all within a few fucking days.
Which means that all this had been in play.
It fucked me up to think about how devious my BM was.
She had every intention of sending me to jail for several years, while running off with my kids.
I know that I’d played with her feelings in the past, but I didn’t think that she’d ever take shit to these extremes.
And now, she had my kids around a nigga who had some fucked-up intentions.
All I kept thinking about was Too Low’s promise that he was never letting Babi go.
And something deep down told me that the last thing he wanted to do was be Tera’s knight in shining armor.
Her dumb ass was probably just a part of the plot within a whole other plot.
But she probably couldn’t see it. Was too worried about shitting on me.
Nonetheless, by the time we pulled up to Tera’s townhome, there was no doubt that she was there, as I spotted Aspen riding on her electric scooter down the sidewalk. So, before Babi could come to a complete stop, I hopped out of the jeep.
