Chapter 18 #3
“Just mind-fucked the guy. Austin was bein’ his normal shitty self, thinkin’ since he’s bigger than everyone else, he can backtalk an elder.
Ever since Mosavi did that eye thing, the poor guy’s been weird.
” Roscoe caught himself. “Well, weirder. Austin just rolled over like a puppy with that creepy smile.”
“Out of morbid curiosity, what did Mosavi do to you?”
Roscoe narrowed his eyes. “Why do you wanna know?”
“For science.”
“I ain’t giving you any of his ideas. The only thing I’ll say is he brutalized my ass and put this fuckin’ cage on me.” He rubbed at his crotch. “I don’t know why bein’ so embarrassed kinda turns me on, but I really want this thing off, too.”
“Well, apparently the keys don’t work, so I’ve got to do something a little different.”
“Oh?” Roscoe grinned. “Is it sexy?”
“Well… that depends on what you consider sexy. Remember when you said Austin got all creepy after Mosavi did the eye thing?”
Roscoe raised an eyebrow.
“Well, I have to do the eye thing to you to get it off.”
“Dude. You can do that?” Roscoe’s tail stopped mid-wag. “I really don’t like this,” he said, his tone turning serious again. “That mayor ain’t right at all. And that eye thing? I think it happened to me before.”
“Yeah, Darryl used it on you. Remember?”
“Nah.” Roscoe opened his mouth, speechless for a moment. “Darryl didn’t do that.”
“Yes, he did. Your eyes went all blue and creepy before he dragged you into the bedroom.”
“That son of a—” Roscoe snorted. “I guess I deserved it.”
“So did this happen before Darryl?”
“I don’t really remember. Always thought it was because of the drugs, but now I ain’t so sure.
I get these flashes in my head, and all I can see is woods and glowin’ eyes everywhere.
I think the reason Mosavi couldn’t get me was because of whatever happened when I was younger, but if Darryl did it, then maybe those memories are wrong.
” He tried to say something else but stopped himself, his tail hanging limp between the gap of the folding chair.
“Well, for whatever reason, Mosavi changed his mind about forcing me to live with him and keeping you guys locked up, and I think I know that reason.”
His ears fell to the sides of his head. “It’s kinda weird. Never really gave a shit about what anyone thought of me, but now yer here and he’s giving you a taste of the finer things.”
“He’s married, by the way.”
“So? He’s a rich alpha. He can have as many mates as he wants, and no one ain’t gonna say shit. Christ, you ever seen the size of that guy’s balls? It’s obscene.”
“Well, he’s not exactly my type,” I said, giving Roscoe a sly smile.
“What is your type?” Roscoe sat up a little higher, his tail beginning to sway.
“Well, let’s see. I think if I were to settle down with anyone, he’d have to make me laugh. He’d have to know how to cook, because I’ll starve. I’ve got to feel comfortable in his arms, and the sexual chemistry’s got to be there.”
“Sounds like you know what you want.”
“Maybe, but it’s too early to know for sure,” I said, half-teasingly. “You know, this is the first time in my life I’ve been able to actually put into words what I want. I never really thought about it before.”
“Me neither,” Roscoe said, confidently folding one leg over his knee. When he did that, a loud rip came from under him. “Uh oh. Austin’s gonna be pissed. I kinda borrowed these without asking.”
“They’re pretty ripped up as it is. I’m sure he won’t even notice.”
Roscoe stood, and the seam from the top to the bottom had been torn open, the only thing keeping the fabric on was the waistband and button.
“Okay. That’s bad,” I said. “Maybe hide them until we can get them tailored or something.”
Roscoe sat back down. “Well, we’re not gonna be able to ignore the mayor, so we need to figure out how to get on his good side or get out of town.
I don’t wanna end up like Austin.” Roscoe pointed toward the woods.
“Every now and then, I can smell ‘em out there, and it kinda brings back good memories, but it scares me too.”
“Smell who?”
“Ferals. They’ve been close but always keepin’ outta sight.”
“When I was out getting firewood, I ran into a few of them.”
Roscoe’s ears perked up. “For real? Why didn’t you tell me?”
I shrugged. “It hasn’t exactly been at the top of my mind lately. Remember that opal I showed you?”
Roscoe nodded.
“They gave it to me, and I think it fucks with Mosavi’s vironoct or whatever.”
“Now that’s some good news!” Roscoe jumped to his feet, lifting me up with him. This time, Austin’s fatigues ripped completely before falling off. “So, where’d you put it?”
“In the top drawer with my underwear.”
“Ah, that’s why I never saw it. I’m only interested in the ones in the hamper.”
I rubbed my forehead.
“I’m the yin to your yang,” he said, leading me back inside the house. “Get this cage off me so we can yin-yang all night.”
“Nah,” I said, teasingly.
Roscoe stopped in the doorway, his ears dropping.
“C’mon Cody. It was hot at first, but now I’m gettin’ frustrated.”
“I think that’s the point of this thing.”
He leaned in, and I expected him to give me a quick kiss, but then his tongue slipped into my mouth and one of his large hands squeezed my ass.
“I’ve gotta get that thing off you,” I said, defeated as I ran inside ahead of him.
Soaked in sweat, I straddled Roscoe as he howled, and things felt somewhat normal. His chest had this spicy aroma, which was slightly different from the usual. It was nice enough that I collapsed into him, burying my face.
“I guess I needed that,” I whispered. “How in the hell do you keep doing this?”
“Doin’ what?”
As soon as we separated, I rolled over onto my side of the bed. “How do you make me come just by fucking me?”
“Oh that.” He grinned. “It’s easy. Gotta angle myself juuuust right. When I feel you clench up, I know I hit the right spot.”
A black bag caught my eye in the corner of the room. “That’s new.”
Roscoe looked over and shrugged. “It ain’t mine. I thought it was yours.”
I climbed out of bed and knelt next to the heavy bag before unzipping it. “Whoa.”
“What is it?”
It was an entire bondage kit, some of it glowing different colors when I touched them. I pulled out several items, including a cat o’ nine tails, several metal cock rings, heavy shackles, nipple clamps wired up to some kind of small battery, and several other things I couldn’t recognize.
“Oh, hell no! Throw all that magic shit out,” Roscoe said in a panic while scrambling out of bed. “That stuff’s got witchcraft all over it.”
“Witchcraft?” I turned back toward him, wanting to dismiss what he said, but with everything I’d seen, it wasn’t too far out in left field. Even the cages didn’t unlock without me using the vironoct. “I wonder why he left this stuff here.”
“Don’t care. Throw that shit away.”
“I’m keeping the cages.”
Roscoe shifted his eyes away from me. “Why?”
“Insurance.”
“I’m sorry I got drunk. It won’t happen again, I swear.”
I packed everything back into the bag before making my way over to the dresser. “You’re damn right it won’t happen again.” After shuffling through the drawer for a minute, the glint of a large opal caught my eye. “Here,” I said, tossing the stone to Roscoe.
He sat up and caught it with one hand. “Sure is pretty.”
“They didn’t speak at all when they gave it to me.”
“That’s just ‘cause you can’t understand ‘em.”
“And you can?”
He gave me an uneasy look. “With the right drugs, yeah.”
“Roscoe!” I yelled, slipping back into my clothes. “Did you learn anything last night? That was Mosavi letting us off easy. I don’t even want to think about what he’d do if you’re caught using drugs.”
“It’s natural. That’s how they talk to people who ain’t in their pack.”
“He was very clear about us not going back into the woods.” I picked up the gold lighter that had been sitting on the dresser. “He’ll know the moment I go out there. He knows where I am at all times because of this stupid thing.”
“Just throw it away.”
“You honestly think that wasn’t the first thing I did? Every time I throw it away, it ends up back in my pocket.”
Roscoe hummed contemplatively as he got out of bed and toweled off.
“Take a damn shower,” I said, snatching the towel away.
Roscoe gave himself a few sniffs. “I’m fine. I had one yesterday, remember? Got myself all prettied up fer you, and you left me hangin’.”
I pointed to the cock cage. “Take a shower, or I’m putting that back on you.”
“I’d like to see you try.”
I folded my arms. “You have to sleep sometime.”
The werewolf stood quiet for a moment.
“I’m throwin’ that thing away,” he said, rushing for the cage, but I snatched it before he reached it.
“I don’t think so.”
“Yer not strong enough, you little half-turn twerp,” he mocked, easily prying my hand open with his large, clawed fingers, but as he touched the metal on the cage, a blinding bolt sent him flying across the room and into the wall. There was a slight indentation where he impacted.
I ran over to him. “Whoa! Are you okay?”
Roscoe rubbed his head. “See what I mean? Throw it away, Cody.”
“After what you just did? I don’t think so.”
“I was just joking.”
“You were challenging me.” The room started to turn a familiar silver, the tone of my voice growing deeper. “Don’t challenge me again.”
“Cody!” Roscoe’s irises lightened to blue, but he squeezed his eyes shut and turned away.
The intense emotions taking over my body only grew, and I grabbed the scruff of Roscoe’s neck, forcing him to look at me.
“Tell me who your leader is,” I said with a snarl, and his eyes snapped wide open. “Tell me.”
“It’s you,” he whispered, his countenance now distant. “What do you want me to do?”
I snatched the opal out of his hand and pointed at the bed, but not before a jolt of electricity shot through me in waves, causing me to stumble backward. The sensation intensified so much that I was thrown to the floor as the room darkened back to normal.
