CHAPTER 9 #2
She parted her lips, and he slid the toy into her mouth. It was smaller than the cobalt piece, curved like a crescent moon, and it tasted faintly of soap—he'd cleaned it, she realized. Prepared it. Prepared her.
"Suck," he said. "Get it wet. The glass holds temperature. It'll feel cold at first, but your body will warm it."
She obeyed. The glass was smooth against her tongue, tasteless except for the soap, heavy in a way that silicone never was. She imagined what it would feel like inside her—the curve, the weight, the way it would press against places she couldn't reach with her fingers.
He withdrew it from her mouth, and a string of saliva stretched between her lips and the glass.
"Lie down. On the dais."
She lowered herself to the floor, feeling for the edge of the dais, then climbed onto it.
The velvet curtains brushed her shoulder—she'd forgotten they were there.
The bed at the center of the dais was still covered in its yellowed sheets, but Cole guided her past it, onto a section of bare tile that had been warmed by the oil lamps.
"Knees up. Apart."
She positioned herself, exposing herself to the empty air. The vulnerability was dizzying. She was naked, blindfolded, spread open in the center of a hundred-year-old temple, and she had never felt safer in her life.
The glass touched her inner thigh. Cold—sharply cold, enough to make her flinch. He held it there, letting her skin warm it, letting the temperature equalize.
"The original Mara wrote about temperature play in her diary. She said cold glass was her favorite way to wake up a lover's body. The shock brings blood to the surface. Heightens sensitivity. By the time the glass is warm, every nerve is awake."
He moved the toy higher, tracing the crease of her thigh. The cold was fading now, replaced by the smooth glide of glass on skin. She could feel every ridge, every curve of the hand-blown shape.
When it touched her folds, she gasped.
"Shh. I've got you."
He didn't push inside. Not yet. He traced her outer lips with the tip of the toy, painting her wetness across the glass. The sensation was maddening—too light to satisfy, too deliberate to ignore. Her hips twitched.
"Patience. This is the third lesson. Glass is not silicone. It doesn't bend. It doesn't yield. It demands that you yield to it. If you try to rush, you'll bruise. If you relax, it'll find its own way."
She forced herself to breathe. To unclench the muscles in her thighs, her belly, her jaw. The glass continued its slow exploration, tracing patterns as deliberate as the violet wand's sparks.
And then, finally, it pressed inward.
She was wet enough that the entry was smooth—no resistance, just the slow, inexorable pressure of something solid filling her. The curve of the glass found her g-spot immediately, nestling against it with a precision that made her cry out.
"There." Cole's voice was thick now, the clinical edge wearing thin. "That's what the curve is for. The original Mara designed these herself. Every piece in that chest was made to her specifications. She knew exactly what angles would hit exactly what spots."
He rotated the toy slightly, and the pressure shifted—deeper, more insistent. Her hips bucked.
"Easy." His free hand pressed down on her belly, holding her still. "Let the glass do the work. Your job is to feel. Nothing else."
She felt. The toy moved inside her—not thrusting, not pumping, just rotating in slow circles that ground the curved tip against her g-spot with unbearable precision.
It was nothing like the cobalt piece. That had been about fullness.
This was about focus. About finding one single point of pleasure and pressing against it until she couldn't remember her own name.
"Cole—" His name came out as a plea.
"I know. Not yet."
He withdrew the toy, and she made a sound of pure frustration. The loss was physical—an emptiness that ached.
"Roll over. On your belly."
She obeyed, her limbs clumsy with arousal. The tile was cool against her breasts, her cheek. She heard him open the chest again, heard the clink of glass on glass as he selected something new.
"This one is for temperature. The original Mara kept a bowl of ice water in the chest—the lining is still stained from it. I'm going to use cold and warm in sequence. The contrast teaches the nerves to fire more intensely. By the time I'm done, you'll feel everything twice as sharply."
She heard the faint splash of liquid. Then the glass was back—but this time it was icy, shockingly cold, and it touched the base of her spine.
She yelped.
"Breathe."
The cold glass traced up her spine, vertebrae by vertebrae, leaving a trail of goosebumps in its wake. When it reached her shoulder blades, he lifted it—and replaced it with something warm. Not hot. Just body temperature, as if he'd been holding it in his palm. The contrast made her gasp.
"Cold contracts. Warmth expands. The blood vessels open and close, open and close. The nerves fire faster. You're more sensitive now than you were five minutes ago, aren't you?"
"Yes." The word was a whisper against the tile.
"Good. Now the real one."
The cold glass returned, but this time it touched her between her legs—from behind, pressing against her folds, finding her entrance with unerring accuracy.
She was so wet that the cold barely registered before the warmth of her body defeated it.
The toy slid inside, and this one was thicker—not as long as the curved piece, but girthier, stretching her in a way that made her moan.
"That's it. Take it."
She took it. The glass filled her, and she rocked her hips back against it, chasing more. He let her—let her set the rhythm, let her fuck herself on the toy while his hand rested steady on her lower back.
"Lesson four. Sometimes the student knows what she needs better than the teacher. Sometimes the best instruction is permission."
She came with the glass inside her—a sudden, shuddering release that took her by surprise.
It wasn't the biggest orgasm he'd ever given her.
It was something else. Something quieter.
A release of tension she hadn't known she was holding, a surrender that felt less like falling and more like coming home.
When the spasms stopped, he withdrew the toy and helped her roll onto her back. The blindfold was damp with sweat. Her thighs were slick. The pendant had twisted on its chain and lay against her collarbone, warm from her skin.
"One more lesson," Cole said. "The most important one."
She heard him move—not to the chest, but to the dais. The creak of old wood. The rustle of fabric.
"Come here."
She crawled toward his voice, blind and naked, until her hands found his knees. He'd sat down on the edge of the bed. She could feel the heat of his body, the rough denim of his jeans under her palms.
"The original Mara wrote that the priestess must know how to give as well as receive. That the tools are only half the training. The other half is learning to read a body without sight. To navigate by touch alone."
His hands closed over hers.
"I've blindfolded you twice now. You've learned to receive sensation without controlling it. Now I want you to give. Take off my jeans. Find me with your mouth. No hands except what you need to position yourself."
Her fingers found his belt buckle. The leather was warm, the metal cool. She worked it open by feel, then the button of his jeans, then the zipper. His cock was already hard—she could feel the shape of it through his boxers, straining against the cotton.
She pulled his jeans down his thighs. His boxers followed. And then she was kneeling between his legs, blindfolded, her hands resting on his knees, her mouth searching for him in the dark.
Her lips found the head first. The taste of salt. The texture of skin. She traced the ridge with her tongue, learning his shape the way she'd learned the glass—by feel, by instinct, by the way his breath caught when she found a sensitive spot.
"That's it. Slow. Take your time."
She took her time. She licked the length of him, from base to tip and back again. She cupped him with her tongue, tasting the heat of his arousal. She mapped him the way he'd mapped her with the violet wand—every ridge, every vein, every inch of skin that made him groan.
When she finally took him into her mouth, he made a sound she'd never heard him make before. A broken exhale, like he'd been holding his breath for years and had only just remembered to let it go.
"Lesson five," he said, his voice ragged. "Sometimes the teacher becomes the student. Sometimes—" His hips twitched. "Sometimes I forget how to talk when your mouth is on me."
She smiled around him.
His hand found the back of her head—not pushing, just resting there, fingers tangled in her hair. She set a rhythm. Slow at first, then faster. She took him deeper, relaxing her throat the way he'd taught her to relax her body for the glass. His breathing grew ragged.
"Mara." Her name was a warning. "I'm going to—"
She didn't stop. She wanted to taste him. Wanted to feel him lose control the way she'd lost control on the glass. Wanted to know that she could give as well as receive, that the training went both ways, that the flame they were carrying was not a solitary one.
He came with a groan that echoed off the domed ceiling, his fingers tightening in her hair, his body shuddering under her hands. She swallowed, and swallowed again, and when he finally went still she pulled back and rested her cheek against his thigh.
The blindfold was soaked through.
"Okay," Cole said, his voice hoarse. "Lesson six. When the student surpasses the teacher, the teacher is allowed to be proud."
She laughed—a real laugh, surprised and breathless. "Is that in the diary?"
"It will be. I'm adding it."
