Chapter Two REECE
For the second time in as many months, I endured the long flight to Munich to surprise Andi. But this time, I rode business class on the Freiberg Monarchy’s dime. And my parents and sister came with me. The invitation arrived a few days after I left Frieberg after the Gala. For some reason, the Grand Duchess seems to have taken a liking to me, and I’m not going to look a gift horse in the mouth.
“It must be nice to have the kind of money that allows you to fly your niece’s boyfriend and his entire family across the Atlantic for a visit,” my sister Katie says as we ride in a big black Mercedes up into the mountains beyond Munich.
