Prologue
Alex Rose has agreed to play Callum O’Leary’s game: win seven challenges of his choosing and walk away with a million dollars. Twenty-nine women have tried before her. None have won.
But Alex isn’t like the women before her. She’s a former state chess champion. She’s sharp, competitive, and most importantly: she has a plan. Alex is used to men underestimating her, and Callum is no exception. So she plays dumb.
Let him underestimate her, Alex thinks.
He does.
And he pays the price.
After only two games, Alex has two wins under her belt. Callum is shocked. A woman’s never won two games in a row against him, let alone the first two games. But Callum’s quickly finding out that Alex may not be like the other women he’s played against.
He may have finally met his match.
Now that Callum’s caught on to Alex’s strategy, though, the tables are about to turn. Because Callum’s about to pick the next game.
And he’s not going down without a fight.
