32. The Bonfire #2

She slides her hand over my cock, stroking it gently, almost a tease of a touch. When her eyes meet mine, she grins. “Let’s see what happens.”

Harper

Caden picked me up fifteen minutes ago so I could come to his house and get changed. He’s been quiet while I took a quick shower and got ready for the bonfire. I’m surprised he didn’t join me, but maybe we’re pressed on time.

I step in front of him. “I’m ready.”

He studies me and then pulls me down to straddle his lap. “You and I need to work on your self-defense skills.”

I arch an eyebrow. “Now?”

“Yeah, little nympho. Now.” He runs a hand through his hair. “And we’re going to work on it tonight over video and tomorrow during school and after school. And if we make it to Saturday without you being attacked, we’ll work on it all day Saturday.”

I trail my fingers down his jaw. “What are you going to show me?”

“How to hit. How to break holds. How to get away.” He searches my eyes with a fierceness that’s all Caden. “How to fucking survive. Are you ready for it?”

He brushes my hair behind my ear, and a little shiver races through me.

“I hope to be.”

“Good. We have ten minutes.” He lifts me onto my feet. “We’re going to work on a few basics to break out of holds.”

I shake out my hands. He stands and tips my chin so I look up at him.

“You aim for places that will hurt. You do whatever you need to do to break free. We’ll worry about the consequences after.” He takes my hand and presses it into a fist with my thumb on the outside. “If someone’s attacking you, you use your fist or elbow.”

He brings my fist to the bottom of his throat. “Here as hard as you can.” He moves my fist to his nose and then to his eyes, even his mouth.

He spins me so my back is to his front. “If he wraps his arm around your neck, tuck your chin as quick as you can. Put your hands in his way. Stomp his foot, his instep, or elbow him in the abs or groin.”

He mimics putting his arm around my neck, and I tuck my chin. I bring my elbow back but don’t hit him.

“He’s not going to go easy on you. We don’t really know what he’s capable of.” He rubs his hand over my stomach. “You have to be unafraid to claw his eyes out.”

“I won’t be.” I spin to look up into Caden’s eyes. “He tried to rape me. I assume he’s going to do that and worse. I promise to do whatever’s necessary to get away from him.”

He cradles the back of my head and lowers his forehead to mine. “I’ll do my best to protect you, little nympho, but it may end up that he finds a way to separate us.”

I touch his jaw and breathe him in.

“Tonight, I’m not leaving your side.” He draws in a deep breath.

“Emma won’t be a problem, but she might not want to be around Zach either.

We need to stay together. That means don’t go off with anyone else.

I don’t care if Kenz shows up and tries to lead you away.

No one, little nympho. Do you understand? ”

“Yes, War.” I draw in his cinnamon scent. “I won’t leave you.”

“Good. Now.” He steps away from me and holds out a metal bar with a keychain on it. “This is for tonight. You close your fist around it, and you use it to punch him.”

“It’s longer than my fist. Where do I keep it?” I look at my jeans clinging to my hips. I won’t be able to sit with it in my pocket.

Caden walks over to the closet and goes inside. I study the metal bar. It’s simple really. I wrap my fist around it and punch his pillow, though I feel silly doing it.

“Don’t pull your punch. Always strike to go through something or someone.”

I lift my guilty gaze to Caden. In his hands is a letterman’s jacket. My heart warms.

“It might be a little heavy for tonight.” He looks at it and then at me. “Maybe a sweatshirt instead.”

That makes the most sense, but I step forward. “Can I try it on?”

Caden’s smile softens. “Come here.”

I walk over to him and he helps me into his jacket. It’s way too big and hangs off my arms and covers my ass. He steps back and a low growl of approval comes out of him.

“Fuck, little nympho. Don’t tell the others because I’m going to want to claim you all fucking winter with this.”

I grin and he lifts me in his arms. I automatically wrap my arms around his neck and legs around his waist. His lips crash down on mine. His scent surrounds me, making my head spin with desire.

The door opens behind us.

“We need to go.” Luke’s voice is grumbly.

Caden chuckles and lowers me to the ground. “To be continued.”

He takes his jacket off me and disappears into the closet. Luke walks over next to me as we wait for Caden.

I glance over at him, and he smirks.

“If I touch you, princess, I’m not sure we’ll make it out of this room.”

My insides boil. Would that be such a bad thing? Nico doesn’t seem to think so. We could just skip this. Spend the evening in bed. Who would really miss us anyway?

Caden comes out with a Mustangs blue sweatshirt.

What I told Nico plays in my head. I have to stand up for myself. I have to prove to myself that I’m worthy to be on their arms. To hold my head high and claim them in the same way they claimed me. Forever.

Caden drops his sweatshirt over my head and picks up the rod to slide into the front pocket. “There. Armed and dangerous.”

I smile up at him. “Thanks.”

“Thank me by kicking some ass if anyone tries anything.” He grabs the back of my neck and kisses my lips quickly before turning me to head out the door.

“You look good, Harper.” Luke takes my hand as we make our way down the hallway.

Heat floods my face. “You look good too.”

He’s got on a black shirt that makes his blue eyes pop. His jeans fit him like a second skin. Not going to lie, but I’m a little jealous that Sidney’s going to be on his arm tonight.

His hand moves to the small of my back and draws me in close to him.

“I love you.” The words are soft, and when I lift my gaze to Luke’s, I feel them deep in my soul.

I rest my head against his shoulder as we prepare for battle. “I love you.”
