Chp 42- Warmth in the Chaos #2
"Marriage is an unbreakable union meant to be nurtured with patience, love, mutual respect, and deep trust. Stand by each other, hold onto one another through every storm, and never let go. May you always remain blessed with a long, happy married life."
A solitary tear spilled over Jungkook's lashes, slipping down her flushed cheek, not out of hurt, but from the sudden warmth of being protected. Around the room, a touched silence fell over the crowd as Jihyo, Eunchae, Jimin, and several other women quietly wiped away tears of their own.
After the Haldi ceremony took place in the afternoon, the Mehendi function was scheduled for the evening, and everyone was busy making preparations for it.
Since Jungkook had a bit less work in the kitchen at the moment, she decided to slip into her room and quickly get ready for the Mehendi.
She went up to her room, only to find a small baby sleeping on her and Taehyung's bed.
"Whose child is this?" she wondered aloud, walking over to the bed to look closely at the baby.
"Did hubby leave the door open, or did I accidentally leave it unlocked myself? Someone probably put their baby to sleep here."
Jungkook let the baby girl sleep peacefully and walked over to the mirror to take off her jewelry. Just as she was heading toward the wardrobe, the little girl woke up crying.
Leaving all her work aside, Jungkook rushed back to the bed, sat beside her, and began gently patting her chest to soothe her. However, the baby didn't quiet down and kept crying. Left with no choice, Jungkook finally lifted the baby into her arms and gently patted her back.
"Why are you crying, baccha? Hmm? I'm right here. Who are you? Do you like chocolates sweetheart?" Jungkook asked her softly in a sweet baby voice.
Jungkook then heard a little rumble from the baby's tummy, immediately followed by a strong odor. She instantly realized the baby had dirtied her diaper.
"Oh no! Yucky, silly girl, you made a mess!, didn't you?, Now I'll have to clean you up. Don't cry, darling, I'm right here" Jungkook cooed in that same affectionate tone.
She took one of her long earrings and jingled it in her hands to distract the baby, but the little girl kept crying.
Just then, the door opened, and an exhausted Taehyung walked into the room.
The moment Taehyung pushed open the bedroom door, he froze, completely taken aback by the breathtakingly intimate picture before him.
There was Jungkook, her saree partially undone and draped loosely enough to reveal the soft curve of her waist.
Cradled securely in her arms was a tiny, year and a half old baby girl, her chubby cheeks flushed red as she wailed.
Something about the serene, picture-perfect domesticity of the moment struck a deep, tender chord in Taehyung's chest.
Jungkook was cooing soft, affectionate promises, trying every trick in the book to soothe the little girl, but the baby's cries showed no sign of stopping.
"What on earth is going on here?" Taehyung asked, stepping further into the room, a bewildered smile playing on his lips. "And wifey... whose precious baby did you hijack?"
Jungkook glanced up at him, exasperated. "I have no idea! I walked in to change and found her fast asleep on our bed. You completely forgot to latch the door on your way out, didn't you?" she huffed, flashing him a tiny, mock-stern glare.
"Guilty as charged, I was in a rush and must have left it unlocked," Taehyung admitted, rubbing the back of his neck. "So what's got her in such a mood? Why is she crying so hard?"
"She made a mess in her diaper, poor thing. That's why she's so uncomfortable. I need to take her to the washroom and clean her up."
"Well, go right ahead into the bathroom then," Taehyung teased gently. "Call for me if you need a hand."
"No 'calling for you', you're coming with me right now!" Jungkook demanded cutely, shooting him a firm look but ended up looking adorable.
"Together?" Taehyung chuckled, unbuttoning his cufflinks and unbuckling his wrist watch with a playful smirk.
"What, is my 'big' , capable wife unable to handle a little baby potty duty on her own?"
"It's not that!" Jungkook protested, her cheeks flushing slightly. "She's just so tiny and delicate... what if she slips out of my hands while I'm washing her? Please, just stand by me."
Taehyung's expression softened instantly into a gaze filled with fondness. "Alright, alright, meri jaan, Lead the way."
Rolling up his sleeves, Taehyung followed close behind Jungkook as she carried the fussing toddler straight into the bathroom.
The bathroom quickly turned into an arena of gentle chaos. Taehyung took hold of the wriggling toddler, holding her securely under her arms while Jungkook carefully unfastened the dirtied diaper.
However, the moment the pungent scent hit Taehyung's nose, his composure instantly crumbled. He snapped his head away, scrunching his handsome face in absolute horror while trying desperately to breathe through his mouth.
"Goodness biwi!" Taehyung groaned, keeping his arms extended as far as safety would allow.
"How can a human being so small generate a smell this powerful? It's practically a chemical hazard."
Jungkook glanced up, a shy, musical laugh escaping her lips as a soft pink blush bloomed over her cheeks. Usually reserved and soft-spoken, she rarely teased him, but the sheer drama in his expression gave her a gentle surge of courage.
"She's just a helpless little baby, ji" Jungkook offered softly, testing the water temperature before gently rinsing the toddler.
She paused for a subtle breath, her long lashes fluttering downward as she added in a sweet, hesitant whisper, "And honestly... you really shouldn't look so disgusted."
Taehyung tilted his head, his sharp eyes softening into a quiet smirk as he observed his wife. "Is that an order, wifey? And why shouldn't I be allowed to preserve my nose?"
Jungkook kept her eyes fixed on the baby, her small hands efficiently, gently cleaning the child. Her heart fluttered nervously, but she pushed the shy words past her lips anyway.
"Because... in the future.... when God blesses us with our own child.....you won't be able to turn your face away like this. You'll have to stand right beside me and clean up after our baby too."
The sheer intimacy of her words hung softly in the warm room.
Taehyung, who was habitually reserved, distant, and cold to the rest of the world, felt his heart do a sudden, violent flip.
Every trace of his stoic exterior dissolved into liquid warmth. A dangerous, teasing grin stretched across his lips as he leaned down, bringing his face dangerously close to her burning cheek.
"Oh? Is that so?" Taehyung murmured, his deep voice carrying a playful, dark richness reserved exclusively for her.
"Here I thought my shy little bride was terrified of these topics....and yet, you're already assigning me fatherhood duties?"
Jungkook's blood rushed straight to her face, turning her cheeks a fiery crimson. Overwhelmed by his intense proximity and his teasing tone, she hastily wrapped the clean, fluffy towel around the now-calmed baby, using the toddler as a sweet shield to hide her flustered expression from her husband.
Taehyung chuckled softly at how flustered Jungkook looked, leaning in a fraction closer as she tried to hide behind the baby towel.
"Don't hide your face now, wifey," Taehyung teased softly, his voice full of warmth. "If you've already decided that I'm going to be on diaper duty in the future, shouldn't we start practicing right now?"
Jungkook's eyes widened in cute shock, her heart beating fast. "Hubby.... please, stop teasing me" she murmured, looking down at her hands, unable to meet his gaze.
Before Taehyung could pull her leg any further, loud, panicky cries echoed from the hallway outside their room.
"Where is my baby?! Where is my daughter?!, Oh God, where did she go?!" a young woman's voice shrieked in absolute terror.
Within seconds, a distant relative ran frantically into their open bedroom, her face pale with fear. Seeing the door to the bathroom open, she rushed to the doorway and gasped, stopping dead in her tracks when she saw her little girl wrapped safely in a towel in Jungkook's arms.
"Oh my goodness, my baby!" the mother cried, tears spilling over as she rushed forward. "I was looking everywhere for her! I put her to sleep on a bed down in one of the room, but I must have gotten the rooms confused in all the wedding confusion"
She quickly took the clean, now-calm baby into her arms, hugging her tight, before noticing the discarded dirty diaper and the wet towel. Realizing what had happened, her cheeks flushed with deep embarrassment.
"I am so, so sorry, bhaiya, bhabhi!" she apologized profusely, bowing her head. "I left my baby unattended, and you both had to clean up her mess on top of all your heavy wedding chores! I'm so embarrassed, please forgive me!"
"It's alright, please don't apologize," Jungkook said quickly with a gentle smile, adjusting her drape over her shoulders. "She was crying, so I just washed her up. She's safe and clean now. She was an absolute angel"
"Thank you so much, God bless you both" the mother said tearfully. She gave them one last grateful look, held her baby close, and quickly left the room.
As the door closed behind the woman, the sudden quiet returned to the room. Jungkook breathed a sigh of relief, but the moment she turned around, she found Taehyung standing right in front of her with an amused smirk on his face.
Remembering their earlier conversation, Jungkook's cheeks instantly flushed crimson again. She tried to step past him but Taehyung shifted slightly, blocking her path.
"Where are you going in such a rush, biwi?" Taehyung asked softly, his deep voice brimming with playful charm.
"We weren't finished with our conversation."
