Chapter eleven #3
“Just sign the damn divorce papers, Jonas! Don’t make this harder than it has to be because you and I both know this marriage should have been over! Don’t make me have to bring up your affairs…”
“Hush yo mouth! Got that fuckin’ door wide open while you talkin’ shit!” he hissed as the door closed shut. “You trying to get me fired!”
“I’m trying to be nice and not bring up those students I know you keep fucking! But I swear Jonas, if you force my hand…”
“Don’t threaten me, Cheryl!”
“Just sign the fucking papers!” the woman said before the door opened again. This time, a pregnant woman came busting out of his office, anger written all over her face. She stopped by me on her way out and sneered at me. “I sure hope you ain’t on the list of bitches screwing my husband!”
“What the fuck is wrong with you Cheryl?!” Jonas asked as he rushed towards us.
I just stood there not saying shit! All this right here was a shock to me. I had no idea Jonas was married! Not only was he married, but his wife was pregnant! His wife glared at him then back at me.
“Sign the damn papers!” she hissed.
Jonas practically dragged me inside the room before he shut and locked the door.
“You’re married!” I boldly stated.
“Yea, but as you heard, not for long. My wife wants a divorce,” he said with a smile as he reached for me.
I pulled away from him. “You’ve been married this whole time! And you never said a word!”
“I thought you knew! Everyone knows I’m married!”
“How the hell would I know you’re married? I never met your wife before! You don’t have pictures of her anywhere here, in the classroom! Up until we met at the mixer that night, I didn’t’ even know you existed! I can’t believe you!”
“Fuck all that! What the hell is going on with you?” he asked angrily.
“I don’t know what you mean.”
“Who the fuck was that nigga you were all boo’d up with at your grandmother’s funeral?” he asked.
“Boo’d up! At my grandmother’s funeral! Really?”
“That’s what the hell I said! Who the hell was he Gianna?!”
“None of your business,” I said in a voice that was calmer than I felt.
“The fuck you mean it ain’t my business! You’re my business Gianna! Don’t you ever forget that.”
“Look Jonas, this thing between us is over. It should have never started. I knew it was wrong…”
“Over?!” he asked harshly as he laughed. “What the hell are you talking about?”
“Exactly what I said! You and I are done!”
“You got me fucked up if you think that. This shit between us is just getting started! Shit, I lost my wife because of you!” Jonas said.
“The hell you did! Sounds like you been fucking over your wife long before I came on the scene!” I countered.
“This ain’t over until I say it is!” Then he brought his face close to mine and said, “And I say it ain’t!”
“How do you think your pregnant wife will feel about that? You think she might be interested in learning about our little affair?”
All of a sudden, the wicked smile he had on his face diminished. He now looked extremely nervous.
“Yea, I think your wife will be interested in what I have to say since it should help in your divorce. I overheard the whole conversation including what she said about your other affairs with students…”
“Shut your mouth! Those are accusations being made by my bitter ass wife! She doesn’t have any proof about that!”
“I don’t know. She sounds like she might have proof, so they might be more than accusations.
Anyway, I don’t give a damn about any of that because you’re right, it isn’t my business.
I’m here because you’re threatening my grade and I don’t appreciate it.
I’ve bent over backwards to pass your class!
I’ve completed all of my assignments and I’m gonna pass my final exam!
All I want is for you to give me the grade that I earned! ”
“What if you earned an F or a D?”
“How about I contact your wife and let her know what the F you’ve been doing with your D?”
I could see his face turning red with anger, but I didn’t care. All I wanted was the grade I earned, nothing more, nothing less.
“Are you threatening me, Gianna?”
“Not at all. I just wanna make sure we understand each other. That’s all.”
“We understand each other just fine.”
KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!
He looked at me and I uttered, “It’s probably your wife. Maybe it’s time the three of us have a chat.”
He rolled his eyes and quickly walked over to the door. During normal office hours, professors are supposed to leave their doors unlocked. As he opened the door, a young pregnant girl walked pass him. He looked so nervous I could see the pelts of sweat forming on his forehead.
“Hello,” she greeted me but didn’t smile.
“Hi,” I greeted back as I walked over to the door. “Thank you so much for your time and help on how to improve my grades, Professor Alexander. I’ll see you in class on Wednesday.”
He didn’t respond as I walked out the door. For the first time, I finally felt like I could breathe again. Looked like Professor had his hands full as fuck! I didn’t think I’d have to worry about him anymore. I was literally done with his triflin’ ass!
