Chapter 31

Brielle

My body is sore when I wake up, but my soul is happy. I trace the bites on my shoulders down to the one on my breast. The hard, lean body next to me shudders as I run over the healed scar. Soft snores to my side make me smile harder, and I never want to leave this bed.

I’ve never experienced a nesting hotel before, and I can confidently say it was worth the money.

And I’m glad we listened to Maverick about getting the room.

It rivals the custom rooms we had at the omega academies.

Then again, hotels are built for luxury, and the academy was a paid spot to teach us our place in society.

Omegas are meant to be the homemakers of the pack, a gentle landing for the alphas to come home to at night for all their nurturing.

It’s probably why I felt a little out of place there, knowing how much I hated to cook and clean.

I guess I’d let my parents’ whispers of marrying rich make me think I was a spoiled princess, not because I’d find a pack who wants to dote on me like I’m the reason they wake in the morning.

Duke kisses my shoulder, and I tilt my face toward him.

“What you thinking about, Princess? Getting an array of emotions from you.”

I smile, taking in his gorgeous face and the love shining through the bond on his end.

Maverick groans from my other side, my grumpy alpha mumbling under his breath about us being too loud. I reach over, stroking his skin and giggling when goosebumps follow the path of my fingers.

He flexes his shoulders, showing off his muscular physique before he rolls off the bed, standing in just his tight black boxers.

He raises his arms above his head, and my eyes follow down the ridged planes of his chest and happy trail to the growing tented bulge.

I bite down on my lip, wondering if we have time before checkout.

“We don’t,” Maverick growls out.

I blink. Did I say that out loud? My eyebrows furrow.

Duke laughs next to me. “Your want was all over your face, just like your confusion now. It didn’t take a mind reader to guess.”

I groan, leaning back down and hitting a warm chest and arms that wrap around me.

“Morning,” Cooper says, kissing down my neck. I shudder when he reaches his bite, and my pussy clenches when his tongue runs along the healing skin. His cock twitches where it’s resting against my back.

Maverick snaps his fingers. “We gotta shower and check out before they charge an extra day. And we can’t afford to keep everyone waiting to head back to the ranch.”

My mood plummets a little, thinking about the crew that’s had to hang around the city for an extra few days since my heat was triggered. I know they won’t mind, but I’m not sure how the animals are doing, and I know how much these men love their horses.

Cooper sighs, squeezing his arms around me tight. “What’s got you feeling like that?”

I look up at him, but don’t miss the curious and worried gazes of Maverick and Duke. “I just hate that we disrupted everyone’s schedules, that they all had to wait because we were…you know?”

“Fucking?” Duke supplies.

I roll my eyes, even though I can feel Cooper’s smile at my back. “Yeah.”

Maverick shrugs. “It’s better than the time we had to wait because we lost Brooks.”

Cooper breaks out into a loud laugh. “God, fuck. We were so pissed and worried at the same time. Not a good time.”

“How do you lose Brooks?” I ask.

“With lots of beer and open trailers,” Duke says, shaking his head. “Plus he was eighteen, first time on the circuit with us. He was just a kid having fun, and they gave him the big welcome.”

Maverick snorts. “Still, it took us nearly two days to track him down. Got to the point where I had to call Colt and tell him to prepare for the possibility of telling his mom that he might not be coming home.”

I cover my giggle with my hand.

Cooper kisses my shoulder. “All that to say, none of us leave without checking on each other. And they’ll understand, okay? Especially knowing the circumstances of it basically being our honeymoon heat.”

Sighing into his hold, I look over the men who are forever mine. “Who knew going to the rodeo would result in this?”

Duke snorts. “Whenever Cooper comes to the rodeo, he gets some kind of prize.”

The man at my back laughs. “Shut the fuck up. You make it seem like I’m some kind of peddler.”

Maverick snorts. “Alright, children. Get dressed, and let’s get home.”
