Chapter 33

Maverick

I turn to face my pack.

My pack. That feels strange to say, but right. I scratch the back of my neck. “I’ve done a good upgrade. Just in preparation for, you know…”

Brielle’s eyes twinkle. “For the inevitable day that we all move in?”

I feel a pull on my lips. “Yeah, that.”

She moves closer to me, running her hands up my chest as I hold her tighter. Some of the amusement drops from her face, and she stares up at me with an intensity that tugs on my heart. “And a nest?”

I nod. “All decked out in pink.”

Brielle inhales sharply. “With a canopy bed?”

My fingers squeeze her once, and then I pull away. “Why don't we go and look?”

Her trembling hand slips into mine, and she looks over her shoulder at Cooper and Duke.

“You fancy us some rooms too?” Duke calls out.

Cooper snickers as they both follow up closer to the house.

I glare at them, though there’s no heat behind it. “I fixed up the guest rooms, but if you want special paint and sheets, y’all do it on your own.”

Brielle laughs, pressing herself into my side. “But he still thought to fix up the rooms. That’s what matters.”

A warmth that hugs my heart spreads throughout the bond, and I can only describe it as love. My cheeks blush and I clear my throat, my arm wrapping around our omega. “It’s a large enough house, we have plenty of room to do whatever we want.”

“Add some nurseries?” Cooper asks.

Brielle tenses a little, and we can all feel the hesitation. “I’m not against kids… It makes me nervous.”

“I mean, given all our backgrounds, I think we’d be a little crazy to not be nervous,” Duke says with a hollow chuckle.

I squeeze her, then glance over at Cooper and Duke.

“We’re not our parents, we’d learn from their mistakes.

I never thought much about being in a pack, but this feels right.

And I know we’d make awesome parents…” I catch Brielle’s gaze and offer a soft smile.

“Whenever that day comes. I’m in no hurry. ”

She grins and then wrinkles her nose. “For all we know, we could already be pregnant. We weren’t that safe during our hotel honeymoon.”

Cooper snorts. “No, but it was more like an emotional heat than anything else. A moment where our bond fell into place. In my non-professional opinion, it felt like we were healing your heart, not giving you a baby that your body demanded.”

I watch her throat bob, and she nods.

Her hand reaches out to hold on to Cooper’s with a gentle expression. “I agree.”

Untangling myself from them, I jog up the porch stairs and unlock the front door of the main house.

Our ranch is large enough to have a few homes built on it, but this one has always been for my family.

And now I’m going to share it with my pack, our omega.

My fingers curl around the knob, and I pause.

“Nervous?” Brielle adds after a few seconds.

I blow out a breath. “Yeah, I imagine this is our home going forward. I want it to be everything you ever wanted.”

She smiles. “My home is wherever you guys are.”

Warmth spreads in the bond again, and I nod, opening the door and waving them through.

Duke stops before walking in and pats my shoulder. “Stop putting pressure on yourself. You may be Pack Daddy, but we are in this together.”

I glare at him as Brielle and Cooper snicker in the background.

“Don’t ever call me that again.” I deadpan.

He stifles his smirk, then heads inside. I roll my eyes, following him and holding out my hand for Brielle to take.

“Let’s see your nest, Princess.”
