Chapter 5 Chance

CHANCE

I’ve never taken a woman out on a dinner date before. I don’t even remember taking Cash’s mother out, but our relationship wasn’t really like that.

So I’m a mix of angry and amused when Mackenzie isn’t home when I show up at her house. I even came early, knowing I might have to convince her to come with me, but I didn’t think she would bail.

I have to admit, this is a game that I’m enjoying playing. Women don’t turn me down, and I never have to chase them.

But I might like this a little too much.

Getting on my bike, I ride around town, seeing her car at Opal, a fancy cocktail bar I have never stepped into.

It’s around the corner from Steel, but not the type of place bikers typically hang out.

I suppose that’s why she went there. As I park my bike, I consider how I’m going to play this.

Maybe she’s had a few drinks and won’t be as uptight as she usually is.

Just as I get off my bike, my phone rings.

“Yeah?”

“Shipment came in. We have a problem,” Lust says.

“What now?” I ask, frowning.

“Some items are missing,” he explains.

“Fuck. Give me ten, and I’ll be there.”

Getting back on my bike, I stare up at Opal longingly before riding back to the clubhouse.

Since we’ve been focusing on marijuana for the last few months, medicinal and otherwise, this gun shipment has been the first in a long time.

Someone better not have stolen from us, or there is going to be hell to pay.

When I get back to the clubhouse, I head down to the basement where Lust, Warden, our enforcer, and Gunner, are standing over the shipment.

“How many?” I ask, scanning the guns all laid out.

“Twenty missing,” Warden states, running a hand over his bald head. His onyx eyes lift to mine. “We need to speak to Jack and ask him what the hell happened.”

Jack is our contact and the man who transports the weapons. “I’ll call him now.”

I try a few times, but my calls go to voicemail. Heading into the security room, I check the cameras and watch the guns being delivered. Nothing seems amiss, but I watch it again just to be sure.

“Who the fuck is meant to be in the security room?” I ask, storming back down the stairs.

Lust is sitting at the kitchen table, eating an apple with a knife. “Zeek, but he had some family emergency and left. Eagle is going to cover for him when he’s done with Honey.”

Honey is another one of our club girls. She and her sister, Hazel, moved in here a few weeks ago.

Scrubbing my hand down my face, I check the time. “I’m heading back out.”

I have a woman to track down.

By the time I make it back to Opal, it’s an hour later, having been stopped in the clubhouse on the way out before I could even make it to my bike.

At least her car is still here. When I step into the bar, all eyes are instantly on me.

I know what I look like, dressed in all black and leather.

My cut draws attention, mostly fear, and puts some people on edge.

Tonight, though, I’m not here to start any trouble.

I just want to try and fuck Siren out of my system so I can go on with my life without thinking about her.

Her hazel eyes widen when she sees me. She has four empty glasses around her and is eating a chicken wing. “Well, I guess you found me.”

“You’re drunk,” I murmur, sliding into the booth next to her.

“I’m tipsy,” she counters.

Her friend studies me over her glass, but she doesn’t look afraid of me. I’ve seen her around the school, another teacher, I think. “I’m Chance.”

“Tegan,” she replies, glancing between Mackenzie and me. “You took longer than I thought to get here.”

I grin. “Had a few issues to deal with.” Turning to the woman I came here to see, I watch as she sucks all the meat off the bone and watches me with narrowed eyes.

I was going to throw her over my shoulder and take her out of here, but she’s drunk, so I don’t want to take her on my bike, and I can’t exactly seduce her when she’s in this state.

I guess she wins this round.

“Can I get either of you anything? A water perhaps?”

“No thanks. Do you want a wing? They are kind of spicy but delicious.” Mackenzie smiles, licking her fingers.

Fuck, she’s cute.

Why does she have to be so cute?

“I’ll get you both some water,” I say, standing and heading to the bar. I purchase three bottles and bring them back to the table. Apparently, in those three minutes it takes me to do that, some fucker has decided to come over to the table to try to hit on her.

A man in a suit stands next to the table, holding out his phone to her, and I catch the end of their conversation. “I’d love to take you out for dinner—”

“She’s not interested,” I snap, handing them each a bottle of water. “And if you know what’s good for you, you will get out of here before I beat the shit out of you.”

“You can’t threaten me, I’m a lawyer.”

“I don’t give a fuck who you are. I’ve done time, and I’ll do it again. I’m going to give you ten seconds to get the fuck out of here.”

“Chance!” Mackenzie gasps, while Tegan laughs under her breath.

The man makes the smart call and practically bolts back to his table. I ignore the dirty looks thrown my way.

“What if I wanted his number?” Mackenzie asks with a scowl.

“You didn’t. Now, are you both ready to go home? I can get some of my men to drive your cars back since you’re both in no state to drive.”

She rolls her eyes. “Must be nice to be king. Women at your feet. Hot men to do your bidding.”

My eyes narrow. “And who exactly out of my men do you find hot, Siren?”

Either she’s too drunk to pick up on my tone, or she doesn’t give a fuck.

She shares a look with Tegan. “I don’t know their names, but they were all pretty hot. Do you only let sexy men join the Royal Bastards MC? Tegan, you should hook up with the tall one with the bald head. He’s built like a damn Viking.”

Gunner is a dead man.

Tegan stares at me with amusement dancing in her blue eyes. She’s pretty, and I know the men would be interested. “I already have a date with one of the lawyers from tonight. You should tell Chance how many men asked for your number, though.”

“Yes, do tell,” I say through clenched teeth. Tell me, so I can fucking kill them.

“I don’t know.” Mackenzie shrugs, pushing away her plate, opening a bottle of water, and taking a sip.

“Four, including the one you just chased away,” Tegan cheerfully supplies. “She’s a beautiful woman and new to town. Fresh meat.” She leans forward and winks at me. “You’re not the only one with options. Remember that.”

Yeah, never mind. This bitch is not going to be hanging out at the clubhouse with my brothers.

I pull out my phone and send off a message. “All right, I’m going to get us all home. Tegan, what do you want to do with your car?”

“I can pick it up tomorrow, I live down the road,” she says. “We were going to catch a taxi home. We weren’t going to drive.”

“Well, now you don’t have to.”

“Can the hot bald one take me home?” Siren smirks, and I’m this close to taking her home and putting her over my knee. The thought of her with my handprints on her round ass has my cock twitching.

“No,” I growl.

“You’re no fun.” She sighs, sharing a look with Tegan. I’m guessing I was the topic of conversation tonight. “Aren’t you bikers all about sharing women?”

“Siren,” I warn in a low tone. Tucking her hair back behind her ear, I speak softly so only she can hear. “You want me to spank that ass? Keep pushing me and see what happens.”

She rakes her teeth over her lower lip, and my eyes follow the motion.

Fuck, this woman makes me crazy.

“Come on, let’s go wait out front.” I pay their bill, then help Mackenzie, who is clearly more intoxicated than Tegan, and walk outside. When her long hair starts blowing everywhere, I gently grip it all together and move it to one shoulder.

Lust, Gunner, and Custom show up in the club’s four-wheel drive, and I ignore all their amused looks as I tell them what I want.

“Custom, take the girls home. Gunner, you can drive Tegan’s car to her house, and Lust, you drive Siren’s.”

No way in hell am I letting Gunner take her home. Tegan looks up at him and smiles. “Whoa, she’s right, you are hot.”

Okay! I’ve fucking had this shit.

Mackenzie purses her lips to stop herself from laughing, and Lust places a hand on his chest. “Hey, what about me?”

Tegan gives him a slow once-over. “You have ‘fuck boy’ written all over you.”

Gunner and Custom laugh, while Lust simply winks at her. "If that means I fuck well, then you got that right, sweetheart."

Tegan shakes her head, crossing her arms over her chest. “If everyone has had it, I don’t want it. It makes it cheap.” She tilts her head. “Worthless even.”

Siren looks at me with a smirk, and I know she’s thinking of all the women who have had me.

“All right, let’s get out of here,” I state before Lust and Tegan get into it.

I wait for them to get in the car before sliding on my bike and following behind them. This is the first time in my fucking life I’ve called the men out to play designated drivers for women.

I’m not going to hear the end of this.

But the real fucked-up part?

I don’t even care.
