Chapter 45
Inside the office, Gideon looked at Henry. "You seem so eager for her to regain her memory. Why?"
Henry replied, "I just want things to go back to normal."
Gideon pushed his glasses up and gave him a teasing look. "It's rare to see uncertainty on your face. Seems like her memory loss really has thrown you off."
"Thrown me off?" Henry snorted coldly. "I just don't like things getting out of my control."
"Fine, you can think whatever you want. But this can't be rushed. Take it slow, okay?" Gideon said, his tone patient.
"Enough talking." Henry turned and walked out.
When he walked out, he saw Victoria shoved Sarah, who was sitting in a wheelchair, to the floor.
"Victoria , what are you doing?"
Henry's face darkened instantly. He marched over, shoved Victoria aside, and helped Sarah back up.
Victoria was knocked over, falling hard onto the ground, her elbow aching. Her face turned grim, and her cold gaze landed on Sarah.
Just moments ago, she had been calming herself, but Sarah had wheeled herself over and insisted on giving her back the award and the flower Jude had received earlier.
Victoria didn't want them, but Sarah had stubbornly forced them on her, even scratching her hand with her nails.
In pain, Victoria instinctively pushed Sarah away, causing her to fall. That was when Henry came out.
Tears streamed down Sarah's face. She appeared fragile and innocent. "Henry, don't blame Mrs. Harrison. It's my fault. I didn't control the wheelchair properly. Please don't blame her."
Henry asked softly, "How do you feel? Does your leg hurt?"
Sarah sniffled, replying, "A little, but it's fine. I can handle it."
"Apologize to her." Victoria had just gotten up when his cold, biting voice rang out.
She glanced at the scratch marks on the back of her hand, her brows furrowing. "Didn't she already say it was her fault? She didn't secure her wheelchair properly. Why should I apologize?"
There was a noticeable coldness in her eyes.
Before, she hadn't really felt much toward Sarah. Now, she understood. Sarah was nothing but a manipulative bitch.
She realized that what had happened earlier was all Sarah's little trick.
Sarah just wanted to make Henry dislike her.
She thought, "How insecure must she be? Henry doesn't love me at all, so why go to such lengths with these petty games? All you have to do is wait for my divorce from Henry to be finalized! Why make things harder for herself?"
Henry's face turning colder. His deep eyes lost all warmth. "I saw you push her. Are you still denying it?"
Victoria raised her hands in helplessness. "I don't even know her well, and we have no grudge. Why would I push her?"
"Mrs. Harrison, I was just returning the award Jude gave me. You're his mother, so these should be yours. It's inappropriate for me to keep them. Please don't misunderstand," Sarah chimed in, offering her explanation.
Henry's gaze darkened, his eyes turning toward Victoria with unspoken meaning.
He thought, "Did she get angry at Sarah for this? If so, does that mean she still cares about Jude and me?"
For some reason, Henry's expression softened slightly, and he turned to Sarah. "Let me take you for a check-up."
A flicker of surprise flashed across Sarah's eyes. She didn't expect that Henry would let Victoria off the hook so easily.
She felt she had fallen in vain. Sarah screamed in her heart, "How could this happen?"
However, she couldn't let it show, so she just nodded. "Okay."
Victoria said indifferently, "It's just a stupid certificate. Why would I care? I don't even remember who's who. Don't make it seem like I'm emotionally invested in them."
Her tone dripped with disdain.
Henry's expression turned cold in an instant. He stopped in hist tracks and turned to her with a steely gaze. "Apologize."
Victoria felt annoyed.
She raised her hand and asked, "Then what do you want to judge about this?" She showed him her hand, where her delicate skin was marked with bright red scratches, marring the beauty of her hand. The sight of it felt almost jarring.
Henry replied, "You did that to yourself. Are you trying to frame Sarah?"
