Chapter 82
It was so difficult to communicate with him!
She sighed and said, "I want a divorce. I don't want any more unnecessary ties with him, which is why I hid the truth. Mr. Caldwell, do you understand what I'm saying?"
Jayce's face remained as unreadable as ever.
Victoria felt drained.
A few minutes passed, and then his voice suddenly broke the silence. "I understand. I won't do it again. I'm sorry."
Victoria's face froze in shock!
Her eyes widened with disbelief.
She had expected him to react indifferently, but she never thought he would actually apologize to her.
Just as she was still processing this unexpected turn of events, her wrist was suddenly grabbed.
Victoria was taken aback as she felt his hand pull her away from a hot plate of food.
"It's hot."
He frowned at the plate, then released her wrist.
But this scene was captured by someone nearby and sent directly to Henry's phone.
The roses in the garden of Rose Villa had withered, and in the pavilion, Henry sat alone at a table with a bottle of wine and a glass.
The scene was far different from the one in the photos. Now, the night was dark, and the surroundings felt desolate and empty.
His phone rang, and as he looked at the screen, his brow furrowed, and his expression darkened.
But after staring at his phone for a while, he suddenly let out at low laugh.
He thought to himself, "She is not even divorced yet, and she's already so close to another man. If we do get divorced, she'll probably jump right into another relationship."
He dialed Grace's number, his voice cold and indifferent. "Is the footage ready yet?"
Grace's lone was extremely respectful. "Not yet."
"Once it's done, send it directly to me," Henry said in a low voice before hanging up the phone.
Grace was left stunned.
Victoria thanked the waiter and then shifted her gaze away.
Emma and Tina had finished their game, but because Jayce was still there, they were both acting a little reserved.
Halfway through the meal, Victoria got up to go to the restroom. While touching up her makeup, her phone buzzed.
Diana: [The client is pushing for the final footage. You'll need to work late tonight.]
Victoria: [Got it.]
She didn't think much of it. After finishing her makeup, she returned to find that Jayce was no longer at the table.
"Where did he go?" she asked, puzzled.
Tina adjusted her glasses and replied, "A very chick lady came over and spoke to him for a while, and then he just left."
Victoria immediately thought of Delia.
She nodded but didn't dwell on it. However, when it came time to pay the bill, she was told someone had already taken care of it.
She pulled out her phone and sent a message to Jayce.
Victoria: [Mr. Caldwell, you're too kind. I promised I'd treat you.]
Jayce: [then next time you can treat me. Deal?]
Victoria: [Sure thing!]
She got into the car with Tina and Emma, ready to drive off, but just as she was about to start the engine, she spotted a familiar figure stumbling drunkenly, with two people supporting him. It was Sebastian.
She thought, "Sebastian? What happened to him? Why is he so drunk?"
Victoria told Tina, "Wait for me in the car."
"Okay."
She quickly got out and approached them.
Two men were helping Sebastian, and a woman beside him was talking to him. His cheeks were flushed as he nodded in response.
"Sebastian."
Victoria jogged up to them, stopping them and reaching out to support Sebastian's shoulder. "Why did you drink so much? I'll take you home."
"Vicky..."
Sebastian's drunken eyes brightened when he saw her, a smile appeared on his face.
Victoria nodded. "Yeah, it's me, your sister. I'm taking you home."
The woman beside them grew impatient. "We still have business to discuss. You can't..."
Victoria shot her a cold look. "What business needs to be discussed while he's drunk? Can't it wait until he's sober?"
The woman fell silent, clearly intimidated by her gaze.
Victoria struggled to support Sebastian and helped him into the car. Then, she quickly drove off.
Sebastian lived in an apartment nearby, so she decided to take him there.
"Vicky, you're so nice..."
Sebastian mumbled drunkenly, and within moments, he fell asleep.
Victoria's lips pressed into a thin line, and a sense of unease filled her heart.
Once they reached the apartment, Tina helped Victoria get Sebastian inside and onto the bed. Afterward, Victoria let out a sigh of relief.
"Tina, you should head back on your own. I need to stay and take care of my brother," Victoria said apologetically.
