Chapter 159
Suddenly, Victoria stood up. "Grandma, I'm going to wash my face now."
There was a bathroom in the ward. She went straight in and washed her face with cold water, forcing herself to calm down.
Victoria really longed for Ava's warmth and the carefree, happy old days, which were, after all, in the past. She was not Ava's biological granddaughter, and if she immersed in such warmth for one more day, it would be like stealing it.
It seemed that Victoria could no longer share her grievances and sadness with Ava. She once regarded Ava's place as a safe haven, but the sudden change deprived her of it.
Gradually, a sense of bewilderment came over her. Staring blankly at herself in the mirror, she was completely lost.
"Vicky?" After a long time, Ava's voice came from outside.
Victoria suddenly came back to her senses and walked out only to see Ava. "Yeah!"
Then, she glanced at the bed, hesitated for a moment, and asked, "Grandma, can I sleep with you?"
Ava nodded. "Of course, but I will go to bed late and watch a playlet about the domineering CEO. You are not allowed to scold me."
Victoria was amused. "Do you still watch this kind of playlet?"
"Yes. It's really addictive. There is a playlet about a 25–year–old president who falls in love with a 40–year–old cleaner.
Oh my God! People nowadays dare to film anything.
After watching the playlet, I want to dress up and apply for a role in a crew.
" Ava became excited when talking about this, like a naughty kid.
Victoria suppressed her laughter. "Grandpa might disagree. He will show up in your dream on the first day you are successfully recruited."
"Oh, that's no big deal. Why should I be afraid of a ghost like him?" Ava didn't care at all. She pulled out her cell phone and started watching.
Victoria got into bed and lay down beside her, completely enveloped in her dry, warm breath. She was extremely infatuated with it and felt even more bitter.
Along with the sound of the playlet, Victoria drifted off. The relaxed smile on Ava's face faded. She fixed her eyes on Victoria's sleeping face, reached out to tuck the hair on her cheek behind her ear, and sighed softly.
"You've suffered, right? But your return to my side implies that you are not altogether silly".
Her eyes betrayed her worries as she stared at Victoria, as if they had returned to the past.
After a meeting, Henry pinched his brows while Jacob sorted out the meeting materials next to him. He asked, "Did you find her whereabouts?"
Jacob hesitated for a moment and replied, "Mr. Harrison, Mrs. Harrison didn't book a hotel."
Henry frowned and asked in a sullen voice, "Has she been in the hospital all the time?"
"Yes." Jacob nodded. "But the man who went to the hospital with Mrs. Harrison is gone."
Henry ordered with an expressionless face, "Book a hotel first. Then, draw up a gift list and go shopping tomorrow."
"Yes."
As the night wore on, the city became quieter and quieter in a veil.
Victoria's cell phone rang. Ava took it out and saw that it was a video call. On the screen was a picture of an extremely adorable kid.
Ava answered the video call, and an immature, lovely, and pretty face immediately appeared on the screen.
He fixed his starry eyes on the screen with a bit of expectation.
But he immediately frowned at the sight of an old lady on the other end of the video and asked in a childish and cold voice, "Who are you? "
Staring at Jude's very serious face, Ava couldn't help laughing, "Hey, you have an aura of power, don't you?"
He was hesitant. The person answering the video call was an old lady. Who was she? Where was his mother?
After a moment, his attitude softened a bit. "Hello, where is my mother? Her name is Victoria Harrison."
Ava moved the camera to the sleeping Victoria. "She is sleeping."
Jude was confused. Where did his mother go? Who was the old lady?
He asked again, "Who are you?"
Ava pondered for a moment and replied, "Tell me your name first."
"My name is Jude Harrison."
Ava nodded, thinking that it was a good name.
"You can call me Great–grandma," Ava smiled.
Jude's face betrayed bewilderment. "Great–grandma?"
Jude widened his eyes slightly in shock. He seemed unable to digest the fact because he had never heard Victoria mention Ava!
Then, she was her elder, and he should be respectful to her. An expression of humility and respect came at once into Jude's soft, delicate face without the coldness that had been there before. "Great–grandma, hello."
"Oh, you really take after Vicky, pretty and smart." Ava couldn't help but praise him.
"No, Great-grandma, people said I look like my Dad more". Jude said.
"Come on. Let's exchange contact information and chat." She pulled out her cell phone.
Jude nodded and immediately asked, "Great–grandma, where are you?"
"What? Are you coming to visit me?" Ava asked with a smile.
Jude wanted to find Victoria. But it would be rude to refute Ava's words, so he nodded. "Yeah."
Ava's smile grew even wider. "I'm in Camoreham. Come here."
Camoreham... Jude thought about it and realized that he had attended a summer camp there, so he could go.
"Sure!"
"Great–grandma, you should go to bed early." Jude hung up the video call after saying goodbye politely.
Ava put the phone back, stared at Victoria's sleeping face, and muttered, "He has changed a lot."
The next day, Victoria opened her eyes, only to find Ava, who had already woken up, leaning against the head of the bed, grinning and looking excited as she watched a video.
"Grandma, you woke up so early." Victoria got out of bed and stretched herself.
Ava glanced at her and said, "I'm old, so I don't sleep that long. But you were sound asleep. Have you not rested for a long time?"
Victoria froze and explained, "No. Your company made me sleep for a long time."
Gazing at her deeply, Ava did not expose her lie.
"By the way, your son called you last night, and I answered it," Ava said while watching the video.
Victoria immediately picked up her phone to check and then made a video call to Jude.
The call was quickly connected, and his childish voice rang out. "Good morning, Mom."
Victoria asked. "Did you call me last night?".
Jude said, "I just miss you and want to see you."
Victoria was moved. She smiled, "I will be back soon. You can stay with me for a few days then."
"Okay!" Jude nodded without telling her that he was planning to come to Camoreham.
