Chapter 13

Fiona

His eyes are closed, his breathing deep and peaceful as we drift in a kind of half-sleep. The deeper lines on his smooth cheeks have smoothed out and he’s even more gorgeous than he was earlier. Every second we’re together, I feel more drawn to him.

“You’re staring at me, Fee.”

“You’re beautiful, Monroe.”

He snorts and his dark eyes open, glowing with happiness and love like I never even dared to think I deserved.

“Men can’t be beautiful, Fee.”

“They absolutely can. And you’re even more beautiful on the inside than you are on the outside.” I lean over and nibble his lip, pulling it between my teeth. “And you are damn gorgeous on the outside.”

His eyes widen and he sighs. “You’re gonna make me blush.”

“You can take it.”

He rolls me under him and I feel the first faint stirrings of his cock against my hip again. We’ve barely finished but my body heats up within seconds. His mouth touches mine, sinking deep and kissing me so hard that I don’t even know where he ends and I begin.

His hands roam along my side and I laugh, convulsing so hard that I bash my head into his chin.

“Ouch!” He growls.

Rubbing my head, I narrow my eyes at him. “Oddly enough, you seem to have a very hard head, Mr. Stephens.”

“It’s genetic,” he growls.

But then he kisses me and his hands rove up and down my curves, lovingly tracing them, devouring my lips and growling under his breath.

His cock hardens again and I fall into the feel of him around me. The way I feel so dainty and tiny with him. Like no matter what, he will protect me.

He slides inside me and we fall into the rhythm of lovemaking. His hands touch mine and he draws them up over my head, suckling my mouth and drawing me deeper into lust.

Passion crests and I moan, my body shuddering and falling apart under him as he groans and thrusts deeper, faster, harder.

“Yes, yes, yes!” I holler, pleasure washing over me.

He holds me tighter and his thrusts are wild and maddening as he finally comes inside me, his pulsing release setting off another explosion of pleasure inside me.

White paints my vision and sights and sounds disappear, leaving only the feel of him inside me and the pleasure he brings me.

He falls on top of me and I grunt as he rolls off and throws his arm over his face, panting.

“You know, if you get much better than that, I might have a heart attack, Fee.”

“I won’t let you. I know CPR. You’re not going anywhere without me.”

His head rolls on the pillow and he smirks. “That’s good. I’ll make sure that I get certified as well. So I can take care of you. With both of us covered we’ll aways be safe.”

I snort and hide my face in his carved, muscular chest. Then I lift my head, serious for once. “I always feel safe with you, you know that.”

“I do know that.”

I close my eyes and lay my head down on his chest, listening to his heartbeat and settling. My breathing slows and I twist my fingers into his.

Everything goes still and quiet, just our breathing and I let all my worries go. Because I know that this man will make sure that I’m never hurt, always happy.

“I love you, Monroe.”

“Love you too, Fee,” he sighs and rests his chin on the top of my head.

Two days later, Monroe walks in the door and smiles at me, holding up a key to the other door. “Well, it’s all done. My dad sold me the shop and it’s all ours. Now we don’t need the wall. We don’t need to keep everything separate. We can make it everything we want.”

“Yay!” I scream and jump into his arms, peppering his lean cheeks with kisses. He holds me steady and laughs.

“You are a crazy woman. Where’s Harper?”

“Harper is right here trying not to lose her lunch.”

“Oops!” I drop down to the floor and Monroe grumbles under his breath.

“Yeah. Please don’t do that to me again. I don’t want to have to burn my eyes out just to keep myself safe from your lustful actions.”

Monroe snorts and stalks over to lean on the wall. “I’m sorry. I’m just so excited.”

There’s something behind Harper’s eyes that worries me. She’s been distracted and the last time she was like this it had to do with the ex love of her life.

It better not have anything to do with him or I swear I’m going to have a serious talk with her about her common sense.

As in what the hell is she thinking. The man’s married. He’s gone.

But Monroe whistles under his breath and when my eyes shift to him, he cocks his head. I shake mine. I’m not ready to talk about this. It’s not my story to give.

“So when are you planning on starting the construction?”

“As soon as your cousin and I can agree on a contractor.”

“Which we will talk about later,” I say, snuggling up to him. “So what are you planning on doing tonight? I’ve heard about the Valentine’s thing. Could be a good way for you to meet someone.”

“Maybe.”

But she doesn’t meet my eyes and I know what that means. She’s not going.

I wish I didn’t think she’s still hung up on Darius. But that’s a problem for another day.

“Let’s go look at the blueprints in your office,” Monroe whispers in my ear.

“Can you handle the store?” I ask her and she sighs.

“While you go to the back room to make out with your sexy new boyfriend? Yeah. I’m good. Just close the door.”

I giggle and he drags me back to my office, whipping around once we’re inside and closing and locking the door behind him.

He grins wickedly. “Alone at last.”

Laughing, I walk up to him and run my fingers down his chest, enjoying the solid feel of him. “What about the blueprints?”

“Oh, Fee. I don’t need blueprints for what I’m about to do. I know your body so well that I could find every part of you blindfolded.”

“Later,” I giggle.

I fall into his arms and he drags his tongue down my throat. Moaning we drift together and I let my head fall back, losing myself in the wonder of our love.

Outside, the snow falls but spring is coming. In this room, the only thing I feel is heat and fire. And the love of the man holding me, coming apart with me and driving me crazy.

Then putting me back together once again. Like he does every time we find each other, when the passion overwhelms us.

I never thought I’d find a man so perfect for me. But Monroe Stephens is everything I never thought I wanted or needed.

And I don’t think I’ll ever get enough of him no matter how long we live.

“I love you,” he sighs, his body thrusting into me.

“I love you too,” I whisper, kissing him and letting his love wash over me. Giving myself to him just as he gives himself to me.

“Beautiful,” he sighs and holds me close, sitting down in my chair, buck naked and panting.

Cuddling close, I smile and hold him tight. “Handsome,” I say and he chuckles warmly, his nose nuzzling my cheek.

Perfectly mine in every way. Thank heaven I found him. Because I sure as hell can’t live without him now.

Luckily, he won’t let me go. And one of these days maybe we’ll add to our little family, growing it and ending the feud with the joining of our families in blood not just legally.

My smile turns inward. I can’t wait to see where we go. But we’ve got time. And love to find our way.
