CADEN

I hadn't meant to do that to her. I only wanted to scare her a little for sneaking out, but when she ran from me, I felt the animalistic urge to hunt her down and fuck her and when she looked at me with eyes begging me to fuck her ass, I couldn't help myself. I was going back to the meeting with her strawberry rose scent all over me, and that satisfied something animalistic within me.

I was, however, pissed the fuck off at Reece. He knew better than to take her on a fucking rescue mission. Even though I’m pretty sure he knew it was a dub, that was the only reason he took her. If he had even a small inkling that there was any danger, he wouldn't have taken her, but still. I couldn’t not be pissed. I gripped the wheel as I imagined all the things that could've gone wrong .

Finally, I arrived back at the meeting spot. After apologizing once again, we dove right back into the meeting. Yamada industries had been providing Aleksei with a lot of real estate over the years, and I needed to purchase a few properties. The meeting finally ended, and I walked to my car. I was about to reach for my door handle when I felt my phone buzz. It was probably Reece updating me that they made it home. I froze when I saw it wasn't a text. It was the tracker app on my phone showing a new person. Reece. My heart dropped. The only reason why he would send me his location is because something happened.

I swiped down and the pain in my chest grew worse. Ana’s tracker had just.. disappeared. Last known location, a few miles from where I left them. Reece’s arrow on the map was moving fast towards an area of town no one went, and I instantly knew. They had been taken. Fuck. Those sick fucks had Ana and Reece. It had been a trap. The girl was a decoy. Someone in the Herd was working with the seeker. My lungs constricted. I felt like I was drowning. My phone rang then. I stared blankly at the screen, not seeing the name on the screen for a while I tried to get air into my lungs. Finally, my vision cleared, and I saw the name on the screen. Aleksei. I finally sucked in a breath. I swiped to answer.

“How did the meeting go?” His voice came in .

“They have her,” I said, ignoring the question, my voice harsh. He was quiet for a while.

“Okay, calm down Cade. We will get her back,” He said, infusing his voice with calm and I immediately began to calm. As his words sank in, I felt the knot of worry in my stomach unravel, replaced by a glimmer of hope. My racing heart slowed its frantic beat, and the tension that had gripped my muscles began to melt away.

“I’ll send Damien. He’ll be there in a few hours. We will get this done.” He stated.

He hung up, and I stood there trying to decide if I should just follow Reece and storm in there myself. I shook my head that would be a stupid idea, a reckless and futile plan. If I took such a rash action, not only would I put myself in harm's way, but I would also jeopardize the lives of those I cared about most—her and Reece. They’d kill all of us before they let me take her and Reece out of there. The sick fucks were dangerous, ruthless, and would stop at nothing to protect their interests. I knew I had to think strategically to find a way to outsmart them and ensure their safety. It wasn't just about my desire to protect them; it was also about preserving any chance we had at a future together.
