26. Daire
Daire
There was no sight in this world quite like Viktor’s smile.
I only caught a glimpse of it before he hid his soft, breathy laugh beneath his palm, but I knew, innately, what a precious and rare thing it was.
I didn’t know if it was because his wolf was inside me, and he knew everything there was to know about Viktor, or if it was just that Viktor’s reserve made it so transparent that he held himself back.
Either way, I wanted to gather more of his smiles and the laugh that bubbled out of him like a surprise.
I wished I could make him happy, and right then—
Yeah, the way his eyes went hooded and his soft lips fell open on a moan? I thought he was at least a little happy.
I couldn’t stand him thinking that he was anything but someone I wanted. How could he doubt it, when he’d been willing to carry my pitiful ass through the woods to see me safe?
Taking him inside was strange and wonderful. A pulsing fullness and heat. I could hear his heart beating, and I swear, mine echoed the same cadence in my chest.
I liked it better, with something slick between us. It was easier to move, and the slide was nice, like I could take and take and take every bit of him.
I rode him like that, holding his eyes while he squeezed my thighs. If he’d let me, I could get used to this—a seat where I belonged and his gorgeous eyes taking me in.
I still had my sweater on, and Viktor skimmed his hands beneath the soft fabric. His fingers stretched to map every inch of my skin, and when they slipped down my sides again, he squeezed my hips and pulled me down.
“Oh fuck.” I gasped, reaching down to grip my rigid cock and streaking my hand over it.
I should’ve savored the moment, but every thought in my head boiled down to a base need that didn’t care about whether or not I’d have him again. I just needed to come with his dick as deep inside as I could get it.
I jerked myself fast, my palm slick from getting Viktor ready. It was perfect. I pulled, keeping my hand near the tip until—
A moan tore out of me like a sob, and my dick pulsed in my hand. I shot all over my fingers and Viktor’s gorgeous abs. Nothing should look as fucking good as the morning light glinting off my come against his skin.
I met his eyes for only a few seconds before I tumbled forward to kiss him, a wet, sloppy thing that was more need than skill.
The mess between us rubbed into my skin, but I didn’t give a damn.
Fuck, I kind of liked it. I was just thankful that his arms shoved my sweater up so I didn’t ruin that too.
The only thing that would make me like it better was if it were his come between us, or some mingling of both. The wolf was satisfied by the mix of our scents, and I could drink Viktor down forever.
His hands slid up my back. His tongue tangled with mine. Then, he gripped my thigh, hitched my leg up, and put me on my back beneath him.
“Can I—” He cut off, his breath shaking on his exhale. He rolled his hips, and my overstimulated body lit up. The delicious ache that ran through me was just on the edge of too much, and I was trapped between wanting to shrink away and wanting to bear down and take him forever.
I bit my lip against a groan. My toes curled, and I pressed my heels into the backs of his thighs. “Yeah. Keep going. I want to feel you . . . inside. Just like this, please.”
His hand hitched under my knee and he thrust inside. Gasping, I tossed my head back, and his teeth dragged over my neck. The tantalizing scrape shot right down to my spent cock, which jumped between us.
His lips were pressed to my collarbone when he gasped, and I felt him come—the way his body stiffened over mine and how he squeezed my leg and the subtle tremor in his cheek as his lips trembled.
He pushed back, holding himself on his arm above me, and I held his eye, smiling. Maybe I wasn’t practiced at this, or much good at it, but we seemed to manage pretty well anyway.
With a sigh, he fell onto his side and pulled me close. Good, because that was just where I wanted to be. I tossed my arm across him, rested my face on his chest, and lost myself to his steadying breathing.
I liked that he was big and strong and warm all over. He felt steady in a way that I could never be, and he grounded me. There was such a deep sense of satisfaction in keeping him close that it only took me a few seconds to realize I could lose this. Would lose it, in all likelihood.
Under the best circumstances, the odds of starting a relationship with a stranger that lasted were slim, but these weren’t the best circumstances. I was, quite reasonably, an enemy to his people, even if I didn’t want to be. My mother wanted to kill us both. She’d stolen his wolf.
Desperately, I wished that I could ask him if there were any chance for more than this. Maybe I could—what? Stay? That was crazy. Nobody wanted me here, and if Viktor did, once we figured out how to get him back his wolf, he wouldn’t.
But I couldn’t go back to the coven house either.
And all of this was absolutely crazy, because it’d been roughly twenty-four hours since we met, and I couldn’t be this much of a starry-eyed fool, to fall completely for a person as soon as they showed me a little bit of attention.
Except that I was, and I wanted this to mean something, because I’d always imagined it would, and I was, quite possibly, an enormous walking disaster.
I tightened my arm around him, squeezing like I could keep him there, and then I heard him. “Daire?”
My head popped up. I gave him a smile that was probably a little crazy looking, but . . . well, we worked with what we had, and I was maybe crazy. “Yeah?”
“Would you like to do that to me sometime?”
“Do what?”
His cheeks went a shade darker than exertion alone could explain. “You . . . seem to like it when I’m—”
“Inside me?”
He nodded. Once.
And I broke into a wide grin. “You’d want me to?”
Another nod. “If you’d . . . want to.”
“Hell yes. Are you kidding?”
Viktor’s lips pressed into a thin line, and I was starting to recognize that for the discomfort it was, so I surged forward to kiss him again.
It wasn’t just that he wanted me to fuck him, which, like I said, hell fucking yes. His body was incredible, and getting to experience it in every single way? Perfect.
But this was the first time he’d hinted at a next time, or that there might be something we could build to. There was at least one more time ahead of me, and I was going to cling to it.
“I want to,” I promised him, lifting my hand to touch his stubbled cheek. “Like really want to. I just . . . didn’t know if you’d want that. Or if we’d keep— . . . but yes. Could we . . . tonight?”
He shrugged. “Probably.”
“Cool. Yeah. I’ll—I’ll make it good, I swear. I want to make you feel good.”
He met my eye again, a sparkle in his irises that said I was just a little bit charming.
And shit, how the hell was I going to make sure I gave him what he deserved?
I could ask Altair for pointers—the other witches had always liked him, more than one returning beyond their awakening.
But that felt . . . like something I shouldn’t pick at.
Especially not in front of Viktor, who I couldn’t really get away from.
Whatever. I was going to figure it out and prove that . . . that maybe I could be what he needed.
