CHAPTER II #6

Keane’s lips crash on mine and stop me from my nervous banter.

He pushes his tongue into my mouth and catches the last of my words, his hands moving swiftly up to the back of my head and pulling me closer to him in pure desire.

I kiss him back, letting out a deep sigh of relief as his tongue moves hungrily against mine.

His kiss says it all, tells me everything I need to know, and quickly takes my nervousness away.

Keane’s hands move swiftly down my body to grab my hips, pulling me more firmly on top of him so that his already heated length presses between my thighs. He thrusts up, causing me to moan, but I shake my head against his mouth and try to pull away.

“No,” I murmur.

Keane doesn’t let me leave, only presses his lips harder against mine as his tongue dances within my mouth, igniting every single nerve in my body.

“Keane,” I breathe heavily, pulling away from his kiss. “Today is for you. This is for you.”

“You are for me,” he replies roughly, letting his lips to rake down the side of my neck, “you’re all I want right now, Alexis.”

“That’s too bad,” I nearly whimper, feeling his lips nip just below my ear. My body betrays me, my hips moving against his length until I push away again.

“No,” I say again.

“Yes,” he replies forcefully, thrusting his hips so perfectly that I feel his cock against my clit. My body reacts for him, as it always does, but I arch my rear into the air and actually move away this time.

“No,” I chuckle, sitting back on the bed. “Let me have this… let me have this morning, Keane...”

I glance at him with a new seriousness, my gaze holding his before I take in every inch of his body.

“Let me know that I took you. That you let me take you this morning and that I provided something only for your pleasure. Let me have this morning as a reminder to myself when you’re being crowned. Let me know this as sure as I can feel it in my soul…”

I reach for his hand still holding the jewel and squeeze it in mine.

“And let me see that knowledge rest on your body when you are in front of your whole Kingdom.”

“Ancients, Alexis,” Keane groans, reaching for the back of my neck.

“Give this to me, Keane,” I plead to him softly, knowing full well that if he starts touching me again, I will be unable to stop him.

His eyes soften just slightly before he nods in response.

“Put it on,” he demands.

I smile, happy to oblige, and take the jewel from his palm.

I lean forward and reach for the end of his chain, pulling it slightly towards me before I hook the clasp around the bottom and let the jewel fall on its own against his chest. It looks good on him, damn good, and rests strong and proud just like the man before me.

I glance back at Keane and notice that he’s watching me, his eyes steady on my grinning lips and not looking down at the necklace.

“It’s on, Your Highness,” I raise my brows, willing him to look down at the new black that my fingers can’t let go of.

“I know, Alexis,” he nods softly.

I roll my eyes and push off his body again, leaving the bed once more.

“There’s one more thing,” I grin back at the man still watching me with a deep fire behind his eyes. “But I need Golem. Will you stay here for just a moment?”

Keane’s heated gaze doesn’t let go of mine as he nods quietly.

I feel that gaze call to every inch of my being, feel it light me to a fire from the intensity behind it.

It takes everything in me to walk away, but I do so with a smile as I head to the balcony outside.

I’ve sorely missed my magical friend, and when I peer around the corner to the far end, he’s already smiling at me with all the affection in the Old World.

I tilt my head in surprise.

“You know?”

Golem nods, his grin remaining.

I smile a bit sadly and walk up next to him, reaching out for his hands.

“Thank you for all that you’ve done, Golem, truly. It’s been an eventful time with you these last two months, and I can’t wait to see what other adventures we get into next.”

Golem smiles at me knowingly, moving his hands out of my reach to instead bring them around my shoulders. I embrace the magical being as the friend he is and squeeze him tightly, releasing the heavy breath that comes with giving him away.

The two of us walk back into the room holding hands, moving around the bed until we’re standing side by side by the armoire. Keane watches us quietly, sitting up straight as I bend down to the small crevice in the corner and pick up Golem’s clay jar.

“Stand with us, Keane,” I turn to the Prince.

Keane eyes the jar in my hands, then looks over to Golem before giving him a small nod. His features revert into the cool and sharp face of the Discerni that he is, and for once I’m not upset at the sight of them.

“Golem was never meant to remain with me,” I smile, “but I take solace in the knowledge that he will never be too far away…”

I lift the jar between us and set my shoulders straight, nodding to the Prince in front of me as I repeat the words his father said not so long ago.

“I give to you Golem’s home, Keane Zander Bardot. He will travel in this. Keep it in a safe and hidden place at all times and do not lose it or let anyone else handle it. That is important, Keane. No one else should handle this jar…”
