Epilogue
Ten Years Later
“You know, you don’t have to carry me,” Mia said.
“I happen to like having you in my arms, and this is where you’re supposed to be,” Giovanni said.
“Are we seriously sneaking away while our friends watch the kids?”
Giovanni smiled. “They lost at a card game, and they owe me.” He carried Mia down to her woman’s shed.
Ten years of marriage, and he had finally been able to repair the damage that his cold, temper-tantrum words had nearly broken.
Mia was not a child. He didn’t see her as childish.
He loved her more than anything in this world.
Five kids later, she had no doubt. Three boys, two girls, and he wanted more kids.
He loved when she was pregnant, her sexual appetite was insatiable. What he didn’t love was the birthing process. How he had been able to get through all five of his children’s births without killing a single person was a miracle.
Closing the door to her shed, he flicked on the lights, and Mia gasped.
He had spent the last two days preparing her shed for their own special time away.
He’d moved her furniture to one side, so he could create a little love nest, complete with rose petals and fairy lights.
He was tempted to use candles, and he did, in fact, start with candles, only they were nearly out by the time he finished, and he would spend more time worrying about them burning this love nest down than actually working. Fairy lights were the easiest option.
“You did all of this for me?” Mia asked.
“After ten years, babe, when are you going to realize that everything I do is for you? Everything.” He didn’t hold back on his love.
There were no secrets.
No darkness.
Just love.
He put her on her feet, and Mia cupped his face. “There’s no place I’d rather be than with you.” She pulled him in for a kiss.
He could have lost her, and he was never going to allow that to happen again.
The End
