C harlie sits at the bar, snacking on a bag of potato chips. Apparently his mother doesn’t mind him having junk food. That’s going to change. My son needs some discipline. He needs me to teach him how to be a man.

“I don’t understand. Why don’t you just talk to Mason? He’s a good guy.”

I chuckle. “Perhaps you don’t know him as well as I do.”

“I know him pretty well. Maybe you don’t know him as well as you think you do.”

There he goes with that smart ass mouth again. Like I said, he needs some discipline.

“My brother is a coward. That hasn’t changed.”

Charlie finishes off the chips and tosses the bag into the garbage can. At least I didn’t have to tell him to clean up after himself. Davina hasn’t done a horrible job as a mother, but he’s got a lot to learn. He’s been raised by the wrong man.

“You’re the one hiding.”

“Not for long, son. Not for long.”

My phone rings and I smile when I see it’s Charles again. “Twice in one day, brother. I’m starting to feel special.”

“Let’s end this.”

He hangs up and there’s a pounding on my door. I frown, unsure how this is possible. I’ve left no trails, no leads to where I’m located. How did he find me?

Charlie grins. “Told you he would come for me.”
