Cade
“Can I take you back?” I asked softly.
She nodded. I placed one hand on her shoulder for a second then stepped up to the driver.
He looked at her and she gave him a subtle nod.
I pulled my wallet out and he held his hand up. “It’s all good, man.”
I ignored that and handed him a hundred.
“What. No.” He was shaking his head slowly.
“It’s not for the ride.” He lifted an eyebrow. “For being the man, bro.”
He hesitated, then took the bill.
We bumped fists.
Then I led her across the road and swung my leg over my Harley.
I held my hand out after she’d attached her bag to the bar, and said, “Cade.”
“Avery.” Then she climbed on behind me and wrapped her arms around my waist.
