49. Chapter Forty-Nine
Chapter Forty-Nine
Kat
Idragged my eyes open, unsure of where I was for a moment.
“You’re okay, baby girl. Come back to me now,” I heard whispered as my sweaty hair was pushed back from my face. I groaned softly, attempting to raise my head and failing.
“There she is. Hi, sweetheart,” he murmured, ducking down so I could sort of see his face and eyes from where I laid sprawled across him.
I couldn’t remember if I’d been here when I lost all sense of time, space, self to that raging pleasure that was very nearly painful, or if he’d moved me. But I was not moving again.
I thought I was maybe comfortable.
But it didn’t matter, because I wasn’t moving again. I let my eyes flutter closed again.
“Nuhuh, love. Open your eyes,” he commanded softly, nudging me with his nose.
“No. I sleep now,” I grumbled. This damn man wasn’t demanding a single other thing from me tonight. I gave him everything. There was nothing left.
Nothing but peace.
And hopefully, sleep. In his safe, warm arms.
“No, baby, I need you to talk to me for a sec,” he pleaded.
I blink one eye open—it was all I could do at the moment.
But he needed me, I could hear it in his voice.
It was a herculean effort, but I managed to drag the other eye open, too.
He was still bent over me, so I knew he could see I’d done what he’d asked.
“Mhm?” I asked sleepily. I received such a happy smile that I smiled softly in return. He was still touching me, stroking my hair, my back. Softly, careful not to overwhelm me. But it was very calming, and I was loathe to let him stop.
“Are you okay? Was that okay?” he asked.
Even exhausted as I was, I heard the vulnerable uncertainty in his voice.
I knew I needed to fix that. I couldn’t let him think he was anything but wonderful, all night.
Even when I was grumbling at him or cursing him out. That was only once. Out loud, anyway.
I nodded sleepily, but I knew before he asked that he wanted my words. I spoke before he could ask.
“That was amazing, baby,” I murmured, my eyes starting to close again. I nuzzled into his neck, slipping my fingers lightly over his collarbone, since that’s where my hand had handed.
“Kat, I-“ he started again, still sounding unsure. I knew what he needed from me. I didn’t move, but I did speak again before he could continue.
“If you ever plan on putting any more than one finger in there, I need a little warning, sweetie. And prep. Because I’ve never…
but I stand by what I said. That was fucking amazing.
I’m officially in love with your hands and mouth.
I’ll show you how much after I take a little nap,” I rambled into his neck.
I felt his hands pause for just a second before starting up again. He chuckled.
“Got it,” he whispered. But then he shifted us up the headboard, dragging me into a sitting, or rather leaning heavily, position.
“What part of naptime did you not understand?” I groaned. He didn’t respond. Unless pressing a bottle of water to my lips was a response. I sipped slowly, and he didn’t push me.
But I did finish the bottle.
Fuck, had I been thirsty.
But this goddamn motherfucker was moving AGAIN. I was gently laid on the pillow, but it wasn’t MY pillow, and I was pissed. He was my pillow. These were SO not good enough. Inferior fabric and feathers, cold and squishy and just NO.
“Come back,” I whined. “Don’t make me take back all the nice things I said.” I heard him chuckle softly as he knelt back on the bed next to me.
“Are you done griping, my love?” he asked, humor lacing his tone. I shook my head no, feeling my eyebrows draw together with my frown.
“How can I fix it?” he asked at the same time he started wiping my sweaty forehead with a wonderful, warm, wet something. I moaned at how good it felt as it moved to the back of my neck, my throat, my chest, my back, everywhere.
“Snuggles,” I griped. He laughed, continuing his work. He leaned down and pressed a long kiss to my temple.
“Give me just a moment, baby girl. You’ll appreciate this later, yeah?” he nudged softly. I smiled at the warmth. Maybe he was right. I nodded.
“Okay sweetie, I’m going to clean up between your legs. It’ll only take a moment,” he explained. I nodded, grateful he’d warned me. I still twitched a let out a pained groan as he gently cleaned me up. The heat felt so damn good, but the pressure and friction were going to make me cry.
“All done baby girl. You did such a good job,” he praised. I smiled, wildly happy I’d made him proud again. I liked that so much.
“There we go, Kat. You’re such a good girl. MY good girl,” he continued, climbing back into bed with me. Finally, my pillow was back.
“Snuggles,” I demanded. He laughed, gathering me up in his arms and pulling the comforter over both of us. And started stroking my hair again. I made an indeterminable happy noise and nuzzled into his neck, his pulse and heartbeat within reach. I smiled again.
“I have the oddest urge to slip you inside me and fall asleep. But we didn’t do enough for you tonight for that, I think,” I murmured into his skin.
He chuckled again, clearly delighting in my orgasm-drunken splendor.
I pressed a kiss to his throat, knowing I wasn’t doing any more damage, he’d been hard all night.
“It’s not odd,” he whispered. “I want that connection too, my love. We’ll get there soon. I’d love to fall asleep inside you every night for the rest of my life,” he continued. He kept talking, but I was starting to slip. I wanted to hear what else he had to say, but I couldn’t stay awake.
I fell asleep in my favorite spot in the world.
Safe and sound in his arms.
