Wrath Chapter 14

After the scare last night, we hadn’t remained with the rest of the club long after Chaos teased about her war bag.

We’d gone home and made love, then fallen asleep.

I got up this morning, and she insisted on cooking breakfast before I started working.

Since I planned to work from home today, I didn’t mind.

After we ate, she sent me off to the office.

I went to the one at the clubhouse. If I stayed all day at my home office, I’d be too distracted by her even if she left me alone.

After seating myself at my desk, I placed my first call. It went to Agony.

“Morning, brother. How’s it going with you and the family?” I asked when he answered.

“Pretty great. The kids are about to take over control of the club. They’re already smarter than the adults.

I’ll be able to kick back and relax. How about on your end?

Are you ready? Just ten days to go, and hopefully, this shit with the Black Outlaws will be through.

Did Panther ever get to speak to their national president? ”

“As of our talk yesterday, no, he hadn’t. The excuse is still that he’s supposedly on a retreat and isn’t to be disturbed. Panther says it might be his arrogant self, or he could know what Killer is doing and is stalling. As for being over in ten days, I want to talk to you about that.”

“Sure. Did something happen?”

I ran him through the incomplete bomb scare we had.

“You’ve got to be kidding me. He’s a sick little fucker. How did your woman react? Is she okay?”

I chuckled. “Jalisa is good. She’s asking to see our arsenal to recreate her war bag as closely as possible.

Hers is back in Athens. She then went on to tell us that those two men she killed in Dylan’s apartment weren’t the first she had killed.

Her first one was when she was fourteen, and a warring club came after them at their compound.

She was guarding other women and kids. She shot a guy with a double-barreled shotgun.

Or the even better story of the pedophile who tried to grab her off the street when she was walking to a school friend’s house when she was twelve, and she stabbed him three times. ”

Agony whistled long, then spoke. “Wrath, I think you’ve gotten yourself a wild one. You’ll have your hands full with her. Shit, she gives Terror’s Harlow a run for her money.”

“Agony, I think you’re right. Naming her Lil’ Lunatic was the right move. We just can’t let her, Harlow, and a few others get together, or they might take over the world.” I chuckled.

“Or we do and send them out after all our enemies and watch them clean house,” he added.

We both laughed for a minute, and then we got serious again. “So I assume you need me to send my guys early? Tell me when,” Agony said after we sobered.

“I don’t know if getting all the clubs to do it is necessary. If you have a couple of men you can spare early, I’ll take them. I’ll call Panther after I’m done talking to you. I can count on him, his son, and the VP. The rest are up in the air.”

“Why? I thought the only one who acted up was her dad, Psycho.”

I had to tell him about the text messages and voicemails Psycho left, as well as the names.

“Goddamn, he’s going off, isn’t he? I understand wanting your daughter to be safe and happy, but to do that.”

“Yeah, he’s got Jalisa worried she’ll lose him because he won’t stop disliking me, and she’s unwilling to lose me. Panther seems disgusted by it and swears that he and the other two don’t care who she’s with as long as she’s safe and happy.”

“And you feel you can trust them?”

“Those three, yes. The ones who were named, no. As for the rest, they’re iffy.”

“I’ll get at least two to you by morning, if not tonight. I’d see, just in case you need them, if one of the others can send a few, too.”

“I will. I can’t wait for you to come with the rest and meet Jalisa. We’ll have to have a party or something to bring together the guys, old ladies, and kids from all the clubs,” I told him.

“We can do that. You know what would be a good way to do it?”

“What?”

“If there was a wedding.” He snickered. I rolled my eyes, even though he couldn’t see me.

“I think you’ll get your wish. But first, I’ve got to get her cut on her. It was supposed to be here any day. I can’t thank you enough, Agony.

“You don’t need to. You’ve helped us out more times than I can count. Glad to be able to return the favor. Talk soon, be careful.”

“We will, and you too.”

After ending that call, I placed the next one.

This one went to Bull in Hunters Creek. It was almost a repeat of the one I had with Agony.

Bull insisted on sending two men now, too, and I thanked him for it.

After speaking with Bull, I placed the call to Panther.

I knew he wouldn’t be happy with the latest development.

“Hi, Wrath. I was about to call you. I have Cougar and Scooter with me.”

“Hello, guys. Should I ask why you were calling me?”

“Well, it’s been pretty tense here since last night.

We wanted to update you. I talked to Psycho about what he’s been doing.

The texts and calls, plus I asked him if he’d been asking other chapters if guys were willing to claim Jalisa.

He tried to hedge and say that he hadn’t asked.

He said they were the ones who’d said stuff before.

It was a lie. I called and spoke to those chapters’ presidents first. He did ask if there were men who would claim her.

What he didn’t tell them was that you had already claimed her.

When I told the other presidents, they said they’d shut that shit down.

They don’t want trouble with you or your friends. ”

“What did he say when you told him that?” I asked.

“He got loud and started cussing and carrying on about how it wasn’t right, and he wasn’t standing for it.

He insisted that the club back him and forcibly remove her.

I told him it wasn’t happening. I then called church and made it clear that anyone advocating that or doing shit behind my back with Psycho would find themselves on the wrong end of things.

I then told them that you don’t trust us to have your back for the car show, and that I don’t blame you.

They were told that only Cougar, Scooter, and I would be coming to assist.”

“I bet that went over well.”

“It didn’t. They protested and said that they’d protect her no matter what.

I have to say, I believed them. The three Psycho named came to speak to me and Scooter after church.

They admitted that Jalisa was attractive, and they didn’t see her as a sister.

However, they swore they didn’t tell Psycho they’d claim her now.

It was supposedly an offhand comment when he was ranting that she saw all of them as brothers.

They claimed if she hadn’t, they would’ve tried to get her to see them as old man material. ” I let a sound of disbelief slip out.

“They offered to come to you so you could beat their asses if it made you trust that they’re not trying to make moves on her. They’re upset about not being able to help,” Scooter chimed in to add.

“It might let me work off some angst, but I don’t know if it would convince me of anything. I’m glad you spoke to them. I’ll think about adding others to the show. Now, I’ve got to tell you what happened last night.”

I quickly ran through the incident with the box. They all swore and promised to be headed our way within the hour. I got them to hold off. They all laughed when I mentioned her asking to rebuild her war bag. When I mentioned her first kills and the stabbing, they got quiet.

“Yeah, those are true and probably seem terrible, and they are. But she was raised by Psycho. Even if we tried to shield her at times, he was adamant she had to know how to defend herself and others. He raised her the way he would a son. The way he taught Dylan. This thing with the Outlaws was a change for him. He insisted from the start that she go into hiding. I was shocked, to be honest,” Panther admitted.

“And he never said why?” I asked.

“No. It’s not like we haven’t had dangerous stuff happen before. He seemed to be more concerned this time,” Cougar said.

“Hmm, I wonder why? Anyway, when you guys come, will you bring her war bag? She’s got the guys going crazy to know what’s in the one at home. I’ve got a few wanting to steal her for their own,” I joked.

They laughed. “Sure thing, we’ll bring it. We want to head out later today. Tell her to text Cougar if there’s anything else she wants,” Panther said.

“I will, and thanks. Who’ll be in charge if you and Scooter are coming? Psycho would be the obvious choice, but with his latest attitude, can you trust him?” I asked, though he had no reason to tell me. How he ran his club was his business.

“Sadly, you’re right. I can’t leave it to him. Merlin, our treasurer, will be. I’d ask Chewy to back him as secretary, but since he was one that Psycho named, I’ll ask Hawkeye, our medic, to do it.”

“Sounds good. If you want to have Scooter stay, I understand. You can’t leave your club exposed. I’ve got a few guys coming from two other clubs ahead of schedule, and I can get more,” I advised him.

“We’ll talk it over. Thanks. I’m unsure if Killer would bother us when Jalisa isn’t here. However, Coaster has sent his wife and kids to stay with family to be safe,” Panther stated.

“What about Tonda?”

“Mom will be coming with Dad. She’s not letting him out of her sight, and she’s been insisting she should come and be with Jae. She won’t be a burden. She’s able to defend if necessary. I hope that’s okay,” Cougar said.

“Jalisa would love it. I have no problem with it if you don’t.”
