Chapter 6
Logan
The look on Kyle’s face when he realized he was falling into the pool, not getting a friendly handjob in the middle of a crowd, was priceless.
It’s still vivid in my memory how he flapped his hands about like a chicken trying to fly.
I whistle a little tune just thinking about it.
He has no idea this is only the beginning.
Kyle disappeared after getting wet, and I didn’t bother to search for him, opting instead for another drink, so I’m quite tipsy when I climb the stairs to my room.
It’s on the top floor, and the lift doesn’t reach there, but I’m not complaining because it also has a lovely balcony and a massive bed.
I stretch at the top of the stairs before entering the hallway leading to the sanctuary, which I may or may not share with someone before this short vacation is over. My face falls the moment I see a familiar figure waiting right by my door.
Kyle is dressed in a green hoodie and jeans, and looks up from above his phone the moment I appear.
A dog lies at his feet, and it now raises its ears in curiosity.
The beast is an Australian shepherd with a coat in a whole palette of colors and is objectively very pretty.
Its heart is certainly prettier than its owner’s.
Kyle opens his mouth, as if he wants to say something, but only waves, staring at me like a calf at its mother’s teat.
“You managed to save your phone?” I ask as if I’m not boiling on the inside. If he were someone else, I’d worry he’s come to sic his dog at me, but everything I’ve seen so far tells me he’s not particularly violent.
“I left it in my room, to socialize more,” Kyle says, and as he faces me, pushing the phone into his pocket, his dog rises into a sitting position.
It has dark flecks on its blue-gray back, a white throat, and two different colors around his eyes.
One’s a bright red, the other—black and makes the pooch look like he’s walking around with a massive bruise.
I twirl the keys in my hand, fighting the urge to scoot down to the curious dog when it cocks its head and one of its black ears flops to the side.
“Oh yeah? I bet you did a lot of socializing. Who with this time?” I wish Kyle wasn’t so damn cute, because I have the urge to pet him too.
When I first approached, there was a determined tension to his expression, but my question makes him falter. “It’s not like that. That’s what I wanted to talk to you about when you shoved me into the pool in front of everyone. Who does that?”
“I did. Do I have to remind you that you don’t actually know me?” I raise my eyebrows, scanning him coldly. Though the truth is, I don’t know him either.
He opens his mouth, but we both hear someone’s steps in the staircase, and he meets my eyes. “Can we speak one-to-one?”
Is he trying to hook up again, or just this terrified of being seen talking to me? “Did you bring the dog for sympathy points?” I ask but eventually move to the door of my room.
His head drops, and he stares at his pet. “No, he’s here because he demolished my room, and I’m not allowed to leave him alone anymore.”
The dog opens his mouth and rolls out his long, pink tongue.
I still with the key in the lock and frown. “And you brought him here, so he can wreck my room?”
“He only does it when he’s bored, but I went running with him, so he’s fine now.”
I give the pooch a skeptical glance but open the door against my better judgment. “Don’t sit on the bed,” I say as I let them in. Is it wrong that I want a peek at his ass? Maybe, but he’s the villain here.
“Jekyll, sit,” Kyle says as soon as he enters the modest interior designed in neutral colors.
Much less opulent than the public areas of the resort, it only has two abstract pictures for decoration, but the bed is heavenly, and the shower—big enough that I don’t have to slouch in order to get my hair wet—so I’m not complaining.
As the dog settles, I take in the pert meat hidden under denim and can’t help thinking back to how soft it felt in my hands last night. How is it that the best ones are always taken in one way or another?
Kyle glances my way, nervously rubbing his forearm where it emerges from under a rolled-up sleeve. “Thank you for letting me in. I know this whole situation is... crazy.”
I roll my eyes. “Yeah, so crazy that you pulled me into cheating on my cousin. Cheating is so unique and unusual.” I don’t even hide the bitterness in my voice.
The light in his eyes dims. “I deserve that. But it’s not like I planned this. I never cheated on anyone before. I’m… not like that,” he finishes, facing me with his arms spread as if saying I’m showing you the true me.
“Only that you are! You couldn’t keep your dick in your pants. All you needed was an opportunity.” I take a step back or I might just punch him.
“It all took me by surprise. If you were a girl, no matter how pretty, nothing would have happened,” Kyle interjects, stepping close enough for me to smell the soap on his skin. He’s so supple, so flushed, so juicy, even if rotten on the inside.
What he says does spike my curiosity enough to not kick him out already. “How so? How was I different?”
He flinches, as if the heat of my breath made him tremble. “I… you know I’ve never done this before. I never even kissed a guy, and none flirted with me before. It just… happened,” he finishes with a scowl.
“So what? You just felt like trying a guy one time before your wedding?” How can a man be so disgusting, yet so attractive, I have no idea. Even in the simple green hoodie he looks like a snack.
“No!” he protests, stepping even closer and hooking me with those chocolate eyes. “I just… forgot about anything else. It felt like it was just us, and like this was the only thing I wanted.”
Flattering, I’ve got to give him that. But, with every step he takes, I wonder… is he trying to hook up again? Is this what he came here for? The idea alone makes me angry.
“What if you forget yourself again after your wedding?”
The Bambi eyes he gives me speak volumes about there being no plan for that in place. “I… I don’t think there’s many guys like you just walking around. I think I’m safe,” he says, glancing up in a way that pulls on me as his lips become the focus of my thoughts.
So what he’s saying is that he’s gay.
And then there’s flattery again. He does want to get fucked once more. I can’t believe his audacity, but I can play along and test him a little.
I lean against the wall, enticing him to come closer with my gaze alone. “Is that why you’re here tonight? To be safe?”
He’s a deer in the headlights, and even Jekyll seems to feel the unease in the air, because he lifts his head, looking at his master.
“I—what? I wanted to explain what happened. I—” His gaze travels over my body, hungrier than a bear woken up from hibernation.
I undo the button at my neck. “So far you’ve explained how into me you are, so you’ve succeeded at that.”
He steps closer, hypnotized by my exposed throat. “I… how can I not be? Why are you doing this?” he asks in a breathy voice and places his hand on my chest.
It’s painfully obvious that if I pushed him on the bed now, he’d let me pound him into the mattress all night and only regret his actions in the morning.
He’s confused by all those feelings because he doesn’t have them for my cousin.
Or any other woman.
I smirk at him, stuck in place, because while this is a test, the ugly truth is that I’m enjoying it. Kyle is hot as fuck. From that perfect ass to his needy attitude and lips that haven’t given me a blowjob yet, he’s a damn firecracker.
“I’m not doing anything. I’m just saying that you’re not married yet.”
He takes a deep breath and steps all the way to me. He’s greedy for the touch of a man, I can smell it in the air, but unlike him, I do have enough self-control to follow intention with action. Still, I wait, meeting his soft gaze as he climbs to his toes and presses his lips to mine.
Electricity shuts down many of my brain cells, but as much as I want to grab him, how much I want to see my cock rest on his pink tongue, this concludes my challenge.
I push him away abruptly enough for the dog to let out a little growl.
“The fuck do you think you’re doing?” I stand straighter, trying to shake off the pleasure of kissing the bastard. “Oh, oh, I was so overwhelmed, I didn’t know what I was doing,” I mock his earlier words. “And now you’re trying to cheat on my cousin again?”
He takes a deep breath and rubs his face. “Fuck… no, that wasn’t the plan.”
I’m almost sorry for him, because to some degree I get it.
If the sex with me was his first time with a man, he probably mistook whatever feelings he has for Madison for love.
Being approached by a man shook his understanding of his own sexuality, but if he’s gay, or maybe just not as secure in his feelings, then he shouldn’t be going through with this marriage.
“So what was the plan, huh?” I would have slapped him if it wasn’t for the dog. “You’re not loyal, you were just missing an opportunity. You’re gay. Call off the fucking wedding.”
He stares at me as if I’d stuck a big shard of glass in his heart. “It’s too late.”
“If that is the only reason to go through with it, then you should definitely end things.”
He looks down, defeated. I wonder if shame is what’s stopping him from doing the right thing, or if it’s the prospect of losing out on everything his bride is bringing to the table, from money to being his beard.
It ultimately doesn’t matter. What I do know is that this guy should not marry my cousin.
“Don’t tell anyone,” he whispers.
It’s so pathetic I feel sorry for him, and I hate it.
As much as it hurt to be dumped by Kayla, she did the right thing.
I can’t imagine spending years with her only to later find out she was never into me.
Our marriage would have dissolved into nothingness until we divorced anyway.
She might not have gone around it the right way, but she spared me.
“I don’t have to out you to make this wedding hell for you,” I say with a sneer, but it feels like kicking a puppy.
“Why?” he demands as if it wasn’t painfully clear already.
“Because you pulled me into your cheating, and I deserve better. I do not fuck married men, other people’s boyfriends, cheaters, or liars.
Now I’m forever stuck knowing I fucked my cousin’s fiancé, so if you don’t wanna call it off, you deserve what’s coming.
Get out!” I show him the door in case I wasn’t clear enough.
He says nothing, just whistles at his dog, and they both disappear behind the door, leaving me with his warm scent still lingering in the air.
I drop to the bed, grab a pillow and scream into it at the top of my lungs.
