Chapter 20 #2
“No, I can’t.” I press my lips gently to his. “You don’t have to keep hold of me. I’m not going anywhere without you, Reid. Not for a while. Not if I can help it.”
Reid leans into the car and drops me onto the passenger seat.
He pulls my seat belt across and locks it in place.
His hand remains on the locking mechanism.
“We might need to have words about what your idea of ‘a while’ is, because I would hate to give you the impression that you’re getting away from me again. ”
“You’re very possessive for a man who barely knows me.”
He kisses my cheek. “Yet here we are.”
As Reid rounds the car, I wonder if he’d think the same if he knew how I’ve been selling my soul to Ilya one piece at a time.
I want him to know. If I’m going to wrestle back some control from Ilya, I might need someone else to be my conscience because I’m not sure I’m as incorruptible as I thought I was.
“Are you OK?” Reid asks, noticing the tears filming my eyes as he slips behind the wheel.
“I’m just a bit overwhelmed right now.”
He takes my hand and kisses it. “Ready to talk?”
“Not yet.”
I turn slightly in my seat, tucking one leg under the other so I’m almost facing Reid as we set off. There’s a glow to his cheeks and a film of sweat on his skin that accentuates the chiseled contours of his face. And he has a beautiful face.
A ghost of a smile tugs at the corner of his mouth, but he keeps his eyes on the road. “I’m going to have to pull over and fuck you if you keep looking at me like that,” he says, his voice hoarse from the tension cording his neck.
I reach across and trail my fingers over his thigh and towards his straining zipper. “You don’t have to stop driving.” I stretch my arm, but my seat belt locks as I try to lean in. I can only manage to brush my fingertips over the ridge of his hardening erection.
Reid looks down to my hand, then over to me. “Have something in mind?”
I lick my upper lip with the tip of my tongue. “It’s time for your cock to fill one of my pretty holes,” I say, casting his words back at him.
Reid glances at the road before returning his gaze to my mouth. “Tell me more.”
“I’d rather show you,” I say, reaching to unlock my seat belt.
Reid’s hand shoots out. “I don’t think so. You’re not undoing your belt, Quinn.”
“But I can’t reach you otherwise.”
Reid shifts in his seat so he’s closer when he puts my hand back on him. He groans as my fingers are finally able to explore his iron-hard length.
“As much as I want your lips around my cock,” he mutters, “there’s a very good chance I’m going to drive straight into a tree.
You’ll bite down out of instinct, my manhood will be severed from my body, and without your seatbelt on, two of my most favorite things in the whole world will go flying through the windshield. ”
“Whoa, you have quite the imagination there.”
“I’ve been living off my imagination ever since I met you,” he admits. “Although that scenario isn’t one I’ve considered before.” His mouth twists into a smile. “Not the part about hitting the tree anyways.”
I stroke his cock through his combat pants, and he pushes his hips up to meet my movement. “Have you thought a lot about me sucking you off?”
“I’m thinking about it now,” he rasps. “And I’m also thinking about how wet you are. Let me see what’s waiting for me.”
I groan. “How long before we get to this cabin of yours?”
Reid puts his foot down on the gas. “It could be another twenty minutes. Plenty of time for me to watch you come.”
I open my legs and slowly lift the hem of my dress. I tug my panties to the side and enjoy the feel of cool air on my throbbing pussy, but I don’t touch myself. “I’d rather you helped.”
Reid’s arms are longer, and he has no problem claiming me with his fingers.
He mutters an expletive as he glides his pointer finger down my center, opening me up and plunging into the liquid heat dripping from me.
A shock of intense pleasure skitters up my spine as he enters me with two fingers. I press my hand over his as I ride him.
“That’s it, Viper,” Reid says. “Take what you want.”
My lower belly tenses and releases with each thrust of his fingers, but I’m also aware of Reid’s cock grinding against my hand. I find his zipper and as I tug it down, I feel a vibration. His cell phone is ringing in his pocket.
“It’s fine,” Reid groans while he continues to finger fuck me. “I can ignore it.”
The ringer cuts off and I resume what I was doing. I find my way into his pants and the gap in his boxers. As I wrap my hand around the velvety touch of his shaft, his cock twitches violently.
“Are you sure I can’t put that in my mouth?” I ask breathlessly.
“That might make it pretty difficult to answer our questions.”
The voice comes from the speakers and my eyes dart to the dashboard. There’s a name on the touchscreen display. Mace.
“You just had to do that, didn’t you?” Reid grits out.
“It was obvious you weren’t going to pick up,” Mace replies casually. “I figured you had your hands full, so I did you a favor and connected the call myself. I hope we’re not disturbing anything.”
My cheeks are already flaming, but suddenly the burn becomes unbearable. “We?” I ask.
“Hi, there, Quinn,” Ash says cheerily. He’d come across as quite dour the last time we spoke, and his forced tone doesn’t sit well in his throat. He’s overcompensating for the embarrassment we all share, the exception being Mace, obviously.
“We promise not to keep you long,” Hunter adds, making his presence known too.
My eyes roll back in my head as I slump against the headrest. Aware that my hand is still wrapped around Reid’s cock, I release him quickly.
I’m expecting Reid to do the same, but when he withdraws, the bastard slams into me again, curling his fingers to reawaken my temporarily frozen body. I grunt like a damn animal.
Straightening up quickly, I glare at Reid.
“What do you need?” he asks. He makes it sound like he’s talking to his brothers, but his lip quirks and his eyes stay on me. And his hand keeps moving.
I mouth my reply. “Stop.”
“I was hoping Quinn could tell us that,” says Ash. “What do we need to know?”
As much as I’d love Reid to take my mind somewhere else, I place both hands over Reid’s to still his movements.
I’ll need to pick my way carefully through this conversation.
I’ll always put Blake first, but I want to be on the right side of this battle, and I’m not completely under Ilya’s thrall.
If I’m being forced to play a part in his game, the least I can do is make it a level playing field for the Griffins.
I tug on Reid’s hand and he releases me from my torment. He sucks his slick fingers, and I scowl at him before turning my attention to the console and the three brothers who aren’t going to be so easily satisfied.
“My name is Jade Holloway,” I say, fixing the hem of my dress. “I’m from Boston, and I was just your average office worker until Ilya took Blake from me. She’s the only family I have.”
“And what about Strider?” asks Mace. “What’s his name and background?”
“That’s not my secret to tell, but I promise you, he’s on your side.”
Mace shoots off his next question without hesitation. “And are you on our side, Quinn?”
Reid stiffens. “What the hell, Mace?”
“It’s a fair question,” he replies. “Have you asked her why she got the gardener fired yet?”
The air in the car feels suddenly oppressive, and I can’t breathe. I don’t want to repeat my lies, but telling them that I’ve been doing Ilya’s bidding is an admission of betrayal. And Mace is already suspicious of me.
Reid must see the guilt written all over my face. He can’t hold my gaze, and returns his focus to the road. His hands tighten around the steering wheel. “We haven’t talked about him yet,” he tells Mace.
Green fields and dense woodland pass in a blur. “How do you know what happened with Jason?” I ask, stalling for time.
“I went to speak to him this morning,” Reid says. “I heard he’d been fired. And why.”
Horror and shame rock me at the thought of Reid hunting Jason down to defend my honor. “Did you hurt him?”
When Reid winces, it’s not the reaction I want. As if I didn’t feel bad enough.
“It didn’t come to that, but I might have scared him just a bit,” he explains.
“Reid!”
He glares back at me. “What was I supposed to do? I thought he’d assaulted you, Quinn!” he argues. His mouth twists as he struggles with his next question. “Did he? Or was there another reason you had him chased out of town?”
I press my hand to my burning cheek. “I didn’t have a choice,” I whisper.
“You’re going to have to explain that to us,” Hunter says.
I wait until Reid’s eyes are on me again, steadying me, if only for a little while. “Ilya knew my real identity. He’s known for a while,” I say. “And he confronted me the other night, when I had dinner with him.”
“Did he threaten you?” asks Reid.
I shake my head. “Not directly. But he enjoys playing mind games.” I bow my head, the next part is going to be humiliating, but to hell with Ilya’s warnings about not talking to the Griffins.
There are things they need to know. Some of those things might end up in the public domain anyway. “He knew everything about me, and…”
As I stare down at my lap, Reid reaches for my hand. Our fingers entwine, and I concentrate on his touch. Blocking out everything and everyone else, I answer as if it’s just the two of us.
“He knew how involved I’d become with you. He even knew you were in the house the other night.” I take a breath to steel myself. “He has a video of us. In the kitchen. He said he’s going to upload it, presumably to a porn site.”
Reid squeezes my hand tightly. “We’ll get it taken down.”
“I’ll do my best,” agrees Mace.
“If you do find it, Mace, please promise you won’t watch it,” I beg, trying to sound casual.
