EPILOGUE 2 ELIZABETH

Elizabeth Miranda Moonwhisper Thornwick stood in her kitchen, stirring a fresh batch of reveal brew. Steam rose from the copper pot, forming images that made her smile with satisfaction.

Cyrene and Kieran, her sitting on his lap, both basking in sunlight streaming through vampire castle windows. The blood magic curse had been broken, and more importantly, the wards protecting both territories had stabilized.

Well, somewhat stabilized.

She waved her hand through the steam, dispersing the romantic scene to reveal what lay beneath. The magical barrier shimmered in her vision, stronger than it had been in months, but showing cracks along the eastern territories. Still vulnerable. Still requiring attention.

“One match down,” Elizabeth said, adding a pinch of moonbell to her concoction. “Three to go.”

From his perch on the windowsill, Grimble’s tail twitched. I love when you meddle.

“Meddle is such an unkind word. I’m facilitating.” She peered into the steam again, letting the images shift and change. “Besides, the wards won’t fully repair themselves with just one bond. We need more connections. More love magic strengthening the barriers.”

The steam showed her what she needed to see next. A dragon king, magnificently scaled and devastatingly lonely, ruling over mountains that touched the clouds. Raoul Emberforge. He’d also lost his parents and inherited a kingdom at too young an age and hardened himself to survive it.

Adele sat in her tower room, her nose buried in a weather magic tome, utterly oblivious to the world around her. Smart. Studious. So focused on her research that she’d forgotten to actually live.

“Perfect,” Elizabeth breathed. “Now to put this next match into place.”

She blew across her potion and cast a spell…

I hope you enjoyed Kieran and Cyrene’s story!

Next up is Some Like it Scorched, where a weather witch meets her match in a dragon shifter king…
