Chapter 7
Kyle
As soon as the door to his fancy hotel closes, his lips are on mine again.
I welcome them—despite some internal thoughts telling me to stop—and he presses his larger body against mine, pinning me to the wall.
I let out a groan against his ear, and he responds by deepening the kiss before taking his shirt off.
In a matter of moments, our clothes are a tangled mess on the floor, and our tongues are entwined in our mouths.
This is unlike anything I’ve ever felt before.
In the past, when I hooked up with a guy—before I was semi-famous, that is—it was a quick shag or a blow job, and that was it.
On the rare occasion there was kissing, it was subpar at best.
But kissing AJ, it feels right. Maybe it’s due to our shared history or maybe because he’s so fucking hot, I’m not sure.
My dick is pulsing in my boxers, wanting to break free.
I look down and see that AJ’s dick is just as hard as mine.
I catch him staring at mine. “Do you want a word with my cock?” I ask.
“Yes,” he says, and kneels down, slowly taking off my boxers.
My dick stands to attention, and he takes it in his mouth greedily.
I grab the back of his head and thrust my cock into his mouth.
He groans at this and swallows me all the way to the base.
I struggle to stand, now holding his head for balance as he continues to take my sizable length.
“Slow down, I’m going to come,” I pant, but he speeds up, and I jerk my body with the best orgasm I’ve ever had. To my surprise, he swallows it all, and then kisses me on the lips, his tongue searching for mine once more. I fall back onto his bed, unable to move.
“Fucking hell,” I groan.
“Was that okay?” he asks, a little sheepishly, his cock still pressing against the waistband of his black Calvin Kleins.
“Okay? AJ, that was incredible.” His cheeks flush red. “Now, get your arse onto this bed, it’s your turn.”
A devilish grin plays on his lips as he crawls onto the bed. I slide his boxers down and discover that Aaron AJ Johnson is a mouthful in more ways than one.
He falls onto the bed after his climax, and we stare at each other. His earthy brown eyes are searching mine. His hands roaming my hair. My heart is back to a steadier pace, and my brain is wondering what the fuck I have done.
“I hope you don’t think this is the reason I wanted to meet up with you?
I did actually have a great time catching up at the pub and I have missed seeing you every day.
Like, we went from being inseparable for twelve years to barely seeing each other in eight,” he says, searching my eyes for something, anything. I give him a smile.
“I think we more than made up for it, don’t you?”
He leans into me, resting his head on my chest. “I’ll tell you what, though, I never thought you were gay—wait…” He sits up; suddenly his eyes are wide, “You are gay, right? This isn’t some sort of jock kink thing?”
I kiss him on the neck and trail kisses up to his mouth. “I’m gay. Always have been. Never thought you were though.” It comes out like a growl, and he leans into me some more.
“Oh, I’ve always been. I used to play this game with our goalie. If he saved a shot, I had to kiss him. If I scored, he kissed me.”
I roll my head back, laughing, “I played the same game with him.”
“That little player. I wonder what he’s doing now?”
“I’m glad you reached out; it was nice catching up with you. And you come with a great extra perk too,” I say, gesturing to his still semi hard dick.
“Likewise,” he says, mirroring my gesture.
I plant another kiss on his head. “What do you wanna do for the rest of the evening?” I ask, taking in his whole body. His toned, golden tanned skin, and abs on top of abs. “You know, besides taking it in turns to ride each other,” I say with a wry smile.
“Well, we could order takeout and watch a movie. It is cheat day, after all, and I’m not in training tomorrow. Gaffer called it off and said to come in on Monday instead.”
“That’s a handy coincidence, mine said the same.” I let out a low rumble and roll on top of him, straddling him while kissing him. “Oh, hello, looks like someone is ready for round two,” I say, feeling his length stiffen.
Four condoms and half a bottle of lube later, we’re sitting on the end of the bed, eating takeout and watching the highlights of our games.
Just like we used to—minus the sex. I must admit, the sex is a much-welcomed addition.
We complement each other on our runs and also highlight where we could have some improvements.
AJ kindly points out that if I had ducked the elbow, I wouldn’t have almost broken my nose.
I give him a dig in his ribs, and we both laugh.
“I can’t believe we’re going to be playing each other in the final,” he says, his head propped up on two pillows while stuffing his face with the last slice of Hawaiian pizza.
“You know I’m not going to go easy on you, right?”
“Good.” He smirks, and then he kisses me.
We fall asleep in each other's arms at some time past midnight.
The next morning, he’s spooning me. I gently pull away and make my way to the shower, trying to be as quiet as possible.
“You’re not sneaking out on me, are you, Thurston?” he says, in a sleep laden voice.
“Not a chance. I’m heading into the shower.”
“Want some company?” he asks, now sounding more awake.
“I can’t say no to that offer,” I say with a huge grin on my face.
Who knew the more showers you have, the filthier you could become? We’re finally ready to start the day. Not that I want to, I could easily do what we’ve been doing for a couple more hours…or years.
“Think you should leave first, in case there’s paparazzi out there?” I ask him.
“Paparazzi? We’re not even in the starting eleven yet, they won’t have anyone following us.”
“But just in case? I don’t want the media to get hold of this before we can figure out what is even going on between us.”
He nods his head, “You’re right. You head out first. Meet me at…oh…I dunno…at the park in, say, twenty minutes?”
“Do you mean the Elizabethan Gardens?” I ask.
“Yeah, yeah, I drove past it on the way here, big gates and lots of flowers.”
“And lots of people.” I interject.
“We’ll wear hats, if you’re concerned.” He smirks at me before giving me another earth-shattering kiss.
To my pleasant surprise, the Elizabethan Gardens are pretty empty at eight in the morning. I still don my disguise of a black hat and dark red scarf, though, just in case. Moments later, I spot AJ walking up the path in a very similar get up. For a March morning, the cold is biting.
“Hey,” he says.
“Hey,” I say back, wanting to close the gap between us with a kiss. Instead, we walk with an agonizing gap separating me from the one person I want to be close to. Last night we were entangled in each other, practically becoming one being. The gap between us now, small to most, feels like a chasm.
To the outside world, we are just two people having a morning walk. In reality, we are two promising footballers with one huge secret.
“Have you heard the comparisons being made online about us?”
“Wait, there’s an us?” I ask, and I don’t much like the panic in my own voice or the look on his face at the word “us.” Like, yeah, I get what we did last night and hopefully continue to do, is extremely risky, but he doesn’t have to look so worried about “us.”
“No. No one knows a thing, so you can stop worrying. I mean us as football players. One person has charted our history and made it like a parallel line and we’re about to intersect.
” My mind is racing, the world feels like it’s getting smaller, like I’m looking through a pinhole.
I try to shake it off. I hear AJ’s voice, he’s making a joke, I think. I ask him to repeat it.
“Like we did last night?” AJ says with a devilish grin. He nudges me in the ribs.
“Anyway, I really think if we get into the first team next season, we have a shot at playing for England. The manager has been under pressure to play more youth players and stop relying on our ageing Global Cup winning squad.”
“The British media are never satisfied, are they?” I say with a sigh, the world remains unstable beneath my feet.
“They’re not, but this could be huge for us. Remember how we dreamed of this? Now we’re in a cup final, and people are talking us up to be playing for England.”
AJ smiles at me, and I give him one back.
We walk around the park, taking in the flowers in every hue, and the people feeding the ducks at the pond.
I worry when we will start to get noticed?
When this little slice of peace will be over for us.
With our dreams on the horizon, our private life will no longer be private.
Everything will be out in the open. Every pass will be dissected, every miss will be scrutinized, every relationship will be under the microscope.
I try to verbalize this. Try to make my mouth form the letters and the words.
Nothing comes out. I feel like a ventriloquist dummy.
I can’t have my family in the firing line just because I missed a penalty.
I can’t become a villain to the world just because I prefer men over women. I just can’t. Fuck.
Panic ripples through me, and I find the nearest bench, plunk myself down, and hunch over, taking labored breaths. AJ rubs my back. His voice sounds tinny, like it’s far away, and I think he’s asking if I’m okay. I think I say I’m fine. The world fades to black.
