Chapter 1

Chapter One

NAHMARI “ZINC” WILLIAMS

“ M uthafucka, you know what’s going on.

You got to pay to play and when them engines start, ain’t no more playing.

Cough up the funds now while the pot still open, broke ass nigga.

” Another race, another pot. I was gon’ always hold the bets simply because Chrome didn’t.

If it wasn’t Copper calling the races, Goldie making sure the prize was legit, and me on the pot, wasn’t no race happening.

This particular afternoon we had Litty and Lead out front and center.

The crew they were going against was Hells Angels.

Hells Angels were coming from Graceland Heights, but they were exactly how they sounded.

These muthafuckas played dirty and the set of twins they were up against wasn’t called Cain and Abel for no reason.

They gave it to you raw and raced like savages.

However, it wasn’t gon’ be none of that shit today.

This was gon’ be the cleanest race they’d ever been in.

“How much are the pools? I heard them Angels really dust shit.”

“I don’t give a fuck what you heard, nigga.

All I know is Litty and Lead ain’t got no L’s under they belt and they not ‘bout to gain one today. Fifty a head nigga so pay the fuck up or get the fuck on.” One thing I ain’t tolerate was bad mouthing my brothers.

They went hard in the paint anytime they were called out.

This wasn’t shit but another day in the park for them.

“Nigga that’s a hunnid dollars off rip,” he complained.

“No shit, Sherlock. Aye, I’m an impatient nigga. Pay the fuck up…” I pulled out my Glock and cocked that bitch. I wasn’t ‘bout to keep repeating myself ‘round this muthafucka. “Or get the fuck on like I said.”

“Aight, aight. Damn.” Lil’ buddy fetched a blue out his wallet and said, “It’s on Cain and Abel.”

I slightly cocked my head to the side and offered a confused look. Anybody that knew BMG knew losses weren’t something we took. He was a goddamn fool to bet against the grain. No worries though, I was gon’ spend his Bengi getting the crew something to drank on when this shit was done.

“Dumbass muthafucka.” I snatched the bill and chuckled at his ignorance.

After collecting the bets, I walked over to my brothers.

Litty was indulging in a bag of chips while Lead was fumbling with the gears on his bike.

Was I worried about the outcome? Fuck no.

The twins were just as ruthless as the ones from Hells Angels.

The only difference was our twins were the same on and off the gravel.

A race didn’t determine how they got down.

“Where Chrome?” Lead asked.

“He just pulled up. He had some shit to take care of with sis’. Y’all good? What y’all need?” I inquired while doing a walk around to make sure shit looked straight.

“We straight. We just need you to keep them goofy muthafuckas in check. I’ll put a hot one in they dome if they get too close, Zinc.

I ain’t playing ‘bout me or my brother life. I promise I’m going there today.

” I expected nothing less from Lead. He was quiet but when it came to him and Litty, he was the true definition of a fuckin’ boogeyman.

“Aye, I’m on the same type of timing. Copper still hosting so we in good hands. You got Chrome and the old heads here as well. Hell really gon’ gain some angels tonight if they jump stupid,” I said reassuring them they were good.

“That’s a bet. Let’s get this shit started, so I can go the fuck home to my bitch,” Litty chimed.

Nodding, I walked over to where Chrome and the old heads were, dapping up each one as I passed by.

The one thing that stayed and never left was unity.

BMG might’ve been under new management, but the respect and family dynamics was still there.

Uncle Merc and Uncle Steel always showed even if no one else didn’t.

“What they talking ‘bout, Zinc? They ready?” Steel questioned.

“They ready. They just ain’t for none of that funny shit today. Lead on one and you know Litty right behind him,” I answered.

“Nah, we straight. I already spoke to Lucifer. He said it’s gon’ be clean,” Chrome responded giving his attention to the twins.

I looked back and realized they were having a nonverbal conversation with Chrome.

It was an understanding between them, and everybody knew the rules.

Once they were disregarded, it was fair fuckin’ game, and I was sure that was all they were discussing.

I pocketed the funds and waved over Copper.

She was the only one to speak once the bikes hit the line and from then on, it was nothing but skills being put to the test.

She glided over in her all black looking nothing less than a goddess. She was still fine as hell. However, my interest no longer lied with her. It was with my baby, Onyx. She came in and swooped a nigga off his feet the same way sis’ did bro’.

“What’s up? We ready?” she asked as soon as she was in ear shot.

“Yeah. Make sure you warn them muthafuckas what’s gon’ happen if they on that cheating shit. It will get ugly out this bitch,” I commented opening my vest to show my tool.

She lifted her shirt and said, “Real ugly. I got it. Who’s at the bottom?”

“Silvy and Goldie.”

“Cool. Well, let’s do the damn thang then. Oh, Chrome, Lucifer said stay and have a chat with him so y’all can schedule something else,” she added.

Bro nodded and Copper took off to the line.

She did her normal speech and threw in the warning she was told.

Cain and Abel both looked at the twins before looking back at us.

They wore a devilish smile, but we ain’t find shit funny.

They were gon’ gain some wings for real thinking shit was a game and like always, we were gon’ get off without a hiccup.

Once she dropped her flag, them boys was gone in the wind. I smiled and turned my back to the race. Confidence was sky high that BMG was coming out on top. I started thumbing through the bread for a solid count to know what to divide.

“Aye Z, I got to holla at you right quick,” Chrome said grabbing my attention.

“Give me a second, bro’.” I wasn’t a muthafucka who knew how to multitask outside the bedroom. It took me another minute before I was able to engage in conversation. The bread was thick, and we had four bands ready to split. “What’s up, bro’? What’s on yo’ mental?”

“Walk with me for a minute.” He stepped away and walked toward the line. I could tell it was something he wanted to get off his chest.

“What the hell going on? Sis’ left yo’ ass, didn’t she?”

“You think I’d be here grinning from ear to ear if I killed my woman? That’s the only way she leaving me. A nigga did do some wild but valid shit though.”

“Wild and valid? Nigga that sounds like some marriage type shit.” He looked at me and shrugged his shoulders while maintaining a smirk. I chuckled and shook my head. He never been the kind of man to hide a bitch ass thing. He did exactly what I was thinking. “When you pop it, nigga?”

“Like six months ago. I just been living in bliss since then, keeping that shit on the low. Her wishes on that part. Shit, Fade really got a nigga going crazy and Yamari is starting to make me stand on everything I told her lil’ ass. She spoiled fuckin’ rotten, bro’.”

“Oh, I’m already knowing. Well, shit, congratulations, nigga,” I said excitedly going in to dap him up.

I wore a smile because this was something he earned.

Happiness and a family that was his. He didn’t have to share that shit with nobody and nobody in their right mind wanted to take that shit away.

Fade and my niece fit him. Hell, even grown ass Mel fell in line and got with the program.

Chrome lucked up bagging Fade and everybody knew it.

She wasn’t tainted like the rest of these hoes in the Lake.

She had her own shit and really ain’t need a nigga for shit, but she found wants in bro’. That was real love if you asked me.

“’Preciate it, bro’.”

“Always. What made you go there? You already got the baby.” He made good on everything he said when it came to sis’. She was his through and through.

“Yeah, but she ain’t got my name. A nigga ain’t gon’ be satisfied until she do. You need to be on the same timing with Onyx crazy ass. She look better on yo’ arm than Copper do.”

“You ain’t got to tell me something I already know. Copper wasn’t shit but a lil’ crush anyway. I know where my heart at.”

“Heart at? You falling in love, Z?” Chrome looked at me with a half-smile and raised brows.

“I think I am. You know how I am with these broads, and I ain’t too fond of building shit with them but with Onyx, I see myself fuckin’ with her like on some lifetime shit. She lowkey making me want to settle down. She the realest thing in my life right now besides the gang.”

Talking about my ole lady brought that softness out of me.

I was as hard as they came, but Onyx did something to me.

She kept a smile on a nigga face, kicked it with me like a homie, and fucked me like a lover.

I felt like I had the whole package with her.

We ain’t start out like bro’ and sis’. When we jumped off the porch, we jumped.

Much like sis’, Onyx was seasoned, too. She was thirty-five but baby had a body and face like she was in her early twenties.

Where bro’ lucked up with a red bone, I landed me a pretty ass chocolate bunny, and I couldn’t keep my fuckin’ hands off her thick ass.

Neither baby nor Kosha was able to settle in the city good before we snatched they asses up.

“So basically, what you telling me is it’s ‘bout to be a double wedding in BMG,” he commented.

“Nah. I ain’t there yet. We on the way though fa sho’. I’m talking a few steps behind.” I wasn’t trying to downplay shit, but it was what it was. Me and my baby was taking it a day at a time and enjoying the fuckin’ ride.
