I found myself sitting outside of Chevy’s house. I needed somebody to talk to about the shit my mother told me last night. I didn’t want to go to my sisters just yet. I wanted to sort out my thoughts first. I wasn’t sure why I thought he would want to hear my problems, but something pulled me here. The fact that I even remembered where he lived after Yana brought me one time was beyond me. I got out of the car and noticed his bike was outside.

I eased up to the door with a ball of nerves. I knocked on the door and waited for him to answer. A minute went by then another and another. It was either he was here avoiding me, or he truly wasn’t home. I waited a few more minutes before getting back in my car and leaving. Something just seemed off. I picked up the phone to call Yana.

“Hello?”

she sniffled.

My sister was crying. “What’s wrong?” I asked.

I’d wondered if my mother said something to her. I knew she was pregnant, and her emotions were probably all over the place. I didn’t want her stressing while carrying my niece or nephew.

“It’s Diamond he- he’s not talking to me,”

she sobbed.

I rolled my eyes. “Girl why? Listen, fuck him if he doesn’t know how deserving you are.”

“Zaria please!”

she yelled. “Stop!”

“What did I do?”

“Let’s not act like you didn’t do the same thing over Cortez’s ass a while ago. You are no saint.”

“I never said I was but it’s you who’s crying not me.”

The phone fell silent. “I’m sorry. What’s wrong?”

she asked.

Hell, she went off on me and now I had nothing to say. So, I lied. “I was calling to check on you, is all,”

I said to her.

“I’m as good as I’m going to be,”

she paused. “Come get me and take me to Diamond’s.”

My head flew back, “Girl you’re not that far along you can drive.”

“Zaria please!”

It was this part about my sisters that pissed me off. They always wanted me to be there for them, but when I needed them to break into Cortez’s house, they wouldn’t. Sometimes being the oldest sucked because as much as I wanted to do my sisters how they have done me so many times I couldn’t. I made my way to her place. By the time I pulled up, she was standing outside waiting. Yana rushed over and got in the car, “Drive!”

she snapped.

I could see she went from being sad to angry. I almost felt bad for Diamond because this is what he would have to deal with being with her. She directed me as I made my way through the busy street. We pulled up to a nice ass building. As I parked, she hopped out so fast I could barely catch up with her.

“Slow down!” I yelled.

We made our way through the building then onto the elevator, “Girl don’t get up here showing out,”

I told her.

“Zaria, I’m fucking him don’t tell me how to act.”

“I mean—”

Yana turned toward me, “You mean what? I’m carrying this nigga’s baby; I’ve done a lot for Diamond and what he will not do is think he can fucking ignore me!”

she yelled. “I swear Zari if this nigga plays me, I-I swear I’m going to kill him. I’m going to turn his ass inside out.”

I have never seen my sister like this. She barely even talked about Malik when they were together. So, seeing her be like this over Diamond had me shocked. I threw up both my hands, “Ok bitch, you got it.”

As soon as it opened, she hurried off, storming down the hall. Yana banged on his door like she was the fucking police. When the door opened and he saw Yana and I, his eyes grew. “Yana,”

he whispered as his eyes landed on mine.

He was pleading with me to get her out of here, like he was hiding something, “Diamond I’m not fucking playing. You think you’re about to ignore me? Huh?”

Yana hissed.

He tried squeezing out of the door without us seeing inside, but my sister was riled up. She moved him out of the way kicking the door in, “Diamond who the fuck is in here!”

she shouted. “I’m not about be fighting bitches—”

Her words suddenly drifted off. I tried to poke my head inside because if I had to, I was ready to fight a bitch for my sister. I cut my eyes at Diamond as I entered behind Yana. When I stepped inside, I spotted Chevy on the couch sleeping. He looked tired and drained. Almost how I felt last night.

Her head shot in Diamond’s direction, “What is he doing here?”

Yana said to Diamond.

His eyes landed on me then her. “Can we talk in the back?”

he asked her.

Yana looked at me and then at Diamond. “Bring your ass!”

she gritted.

It was like they were trying to hide something. I stood there watching Chevy sleep. Had he not heard all the commotion? I knew I should have just stood there until they came from the back but instead, my gut told me to go over to him. My feet moved slowly, lightly tapping the floor as I got closer. My hands reached out touching his perfect chocolate skin. From his forehead down the side of his face to my thumb stroking his lips. His eyes shot open scaring me. He quickly gripped my wrist, pulling down, causing me to fall on top of him.

Eye to eye. Lips to lips. My breathing picked up, and our eyes would not waver. He released my wrist. I wanted to pull my eyes away, but I couldn’t. He had me locked in.

Are you ok?

Always.

I went to get up but his hand it did a thing. It stroked my back. His touch was orgasmic. “Let me up,”

I whispered.

Eye contact. Hand stroke. “You like it?”

he muttered as his bottom lip disappeared between his teeth.

My mouth fell open, and my eyes closed from his touch. Hand stroke. “Say you like it,”

he muttered again.

I licked my lips, then rolled my head trying to shake the feeling. Eye contact. Hand stroke. “Say it, say it, say it.”

Hand stroke.

Eye contact. Something was happening.

Hand stroke. “Say it Z, Say it,”

this time a light growl fell from his lips.

I felt like I was about to cum. Hand stroke. “I-I—”

“Fuck is y’all in here doing!”

Diamond shouted pulling me out of whatever trance Chevy put me in.

I lifted from him. “I fell,”

I mumbled as my guilty eyes glanced at my sister.

“Mmhmm, we can leave now, come on,”

she said. “Zu’s brother is missing and they’re going to find him,”

she added as her eyes landed on Chevy.

I slowly nodded. My body was coming off its high as I made my way to the door. I took one last look at Chevy before leaving out. That man had a pull on me, one I knew was either going to make me or break me.
