“Remy,” Mystia said softly, “ mon chéri , please.” Standing slowly, she reached out, touching Remy’s arm. “Please listen to me…you don’t have to leave…trust me…your brothers will be safe…you will be safe.”

Seizing on Mystia’s words as a lifeline, Remy raised his face, looking at her. “I don’t understand. You said the Governing Council will destroy me…how can my brothers be safe if I’m not here for them?”
