Not wanting to move an inch as I steady my breath, I use the back of my hand to wipe the small amount of perspiration from my forehead. The sun has almost fully set, and with that, the temperature has started to drop.

Surveying Marley’s state, I notice that she’s still in the same position with her eyes closed; her limbs look languid. I smirk to myself, knowing she's satisfied. Now, I need to feed her and get her to bed.
