“If you have fun and want to stay late, we can. Or if you want to dip out early, we can do that too,” Reed says, his palm pressing against my lower back.

He guides me around the cars parked in the field overlooking the beach. It takes me a minute in the dark to recognize the surroundings, but when I spot the pavilion, I realize it’s near the trail I’ve been taking during my morning runs.
