With dead bodies lying everywhere, and grown men crying out in pain, Nora had been launched into hell after following Branko into the hallway.
“Watch out!” Branko yelled, stepping in front of her as a maniac with a machete ran up to them.
Nora held her breath, praying that Branko would win this ground battle.
Branko groaned as the other biker kneed him in the balls.
“Fucking lowlife,” Branko muttered before delivering a headbutt to the man who instantly dropped his machete.
“Nora!” Fox shouted from the other side of the hallway.
“Go with Fox,” Branko said while already pushing her in Fox’s direction.
She wanted to thank him for saving her life, but she realized they weren’t safe yet.
“Where’s Rosie?” Fox immediately asked.
“She’s in the basement of that other house.”
Fox nodded. “I’ll get you out of here.”
“Go, man. We’ve got Silas covered,” Branko said.
Fox directed Nora outside, where she almost bumped into Dragon and Angel.
“Nora!” Angel shouted before picking her up into his arms.
“Thank God you’re all right!”
She held him tight, showing how she never wanted to leave his side ever again.
“I’m sorry, Angel.”
“There’s no time for that,” Dragon said before pushing them back to a waiting van.
She stepped inside and dropped onto Angel’s lap, who immediately wrapped his arms around her while kissing the top of her head.
“Rosie?” Fox and Nora asked simultaneously to no one in particular.
Demon started the engine after Dragon closed the van doors behind him, the last one to board.
“She’s okay. We found her and two other girls.”
Nora cried like she’d never cried before. She couldn’t stop the tears from falling.
She couldn’t imagine what went through Rosie, Millie, and Piper when they were rescued tonight. Piper had lost all hope, and Nora couldn’t wait to hug her.
“It’s going to be all right, Jump Fire. I’m never letting you out of my sight ever again.”
She smiled against his shirt, not willing to let the others show just how much she needed to hear those words.
He stroked her back while whispering, “Tell me you’ll never leave me again. It doesn’t matter what the fight’s about. We’re never gonna be apart ever again.”
She looked him in the eye and said, “I’m your Old Lady. That means forever. Right?”
Angel palmed her face and answered, “That’s right.”
