Chapter Sixteen

Delicious & Vicious

Bowie: I think I’ve made a mistake…

Frey: I’m sure you haven’t. What is it you think you’ve done?

Bowie: I read an email from Kodi to Kari about what happened in Drinkwater, and I mentioned it during a conversation with Jupiter.

Hollis: I’m confused. Bowie, what’s wrong with talking about it with Jupiter? It’s not like he won’t be aware of what they found in the factory. He’s on the board of directors.

Bowie: I don’t know about that. But Jupiter went nuts after I spoke about it.

Wilder: More nuts that he already is?

Bowie: I’m not sure what you mean, Wilder, but he was… kinda wild and crying.

Hollis: Sorry, he was crying?

Frey: Are you sure? That doesn’t sound like Jupiter.

Wilder: I second that. He doesn’t have a heart, more a stone!

Hollis: Wilder, behave.

Bowie: Erm… yep. Kodi had to sit on him, and Kari demanded I ring Lane and Derick to get them to come into the office. That can’t be good, so it has to mean I did something wrong. Do you think they’re gonna sack me? I need my job.

Isley: I heard the commotion. I didn’t realize it was Jupiter. Sounded like a crazed animal had got in the building. Bowie, Hollis wouldn’t let anyone sack you.

Hollis: Exactly. Bowie, you’ve done nothing wrong, I’m sure. It’s probably not connected at all to what you said.

Bowie: Sure seems like it… but if you’re sure, I’ll believe you, Hollis. You’ve never lied to me.

Wilder: Isley, can you sneak in and see what’s going on?

Hollis: Isley, please do no such thing. Wilder, behave!

Frey: I’m sure Wilder’s not the only one who wants to know what upset Jupiter like that. I mean, really, we’re all like a big family… aren’t we?

Hollis: No one likes an interfering family.

Lane: Bowie, it’s not your fault and thank you for calling us. I’ve left a mars bar cake in the coffee lounge… enjoy.
