Chapter Forty Seven
The Halloween Party
I got to the party at the same time as Ava. First thing we did was try to find Juliette and when I did, I couldn’t take my eyes off of her—not with that kind of short ass skirt. I’d never look away.
I bit my lips as I grinned, “baby got back!”
“How is that even possible?”
Ava tilted her head to the side as she stared at Juliette.
My brows furrowed. “What?”
“Juliette gave birth three months ago, and she looks hotter than ever.”
I chuckled. “I know, right?”
“I’d literally kill a kitten with my bare hands to know her secrets.”
I glanced at her as my smile slowly dropped with worry. “I don’t know, it sounds like you also want to fuck Juliette.”
“Ugh! You’re a man,”
she looked at me up and down, “of course you wouldn’t get it.” She rolled her eyes and walked away.
I was supposed to get something?
I looked at Juliette again and she was still frozen in that same spot. Standing still in the middle of a dancing crowd was not a good sign.
“Did you get my text, sweetheart?”
I whispered when I reached her. I grabbed her shoulders. “You okay?”
She quickly blinked like she was coming back to her senses.
“What are you—who?”
I grinned, amused by her confusion because clearly even with the cowboy hat she couldn’t tell I was a cowboy.
I took a step back and tilted my hat down a little, “careful ladies, there’s a snake in my pants.”
I watched her brows furrowed as her mouth quivered…Then finally, she laughed.
I smiled.
Her head lolled back with a wave of laughter. Time stopped and the world around disappeared. I was in complete awe, with her laughter, the fact she made everyone else disappear whenever I was around her and remained the only constant thing in my life.
Watching her laugh brought me joy, making her laugh was like relieving myself. It was the sweetest thing ever.
She took a few steps towards me and closed the space between us as she wrapped her arms around my neck, her laughter still ringing in my ear.
I closed my eyes and wrapped my arms around her.
“Date me!”
I declared.
She held me tighter.
