Chapter Forty Eight

The Good days.

The Blonde by TV Girl played inside of the restaurant. It was a spot I’d never been to before. I wore a long green spaghetti strap dress with a very low back, and Cal wore a suit. He cleaned up nicely. His hair was brushed back, and his blue eyes had a certain shine in them.

It was just us, the music and the sound of our laughter.

He switched plates with me after cutting his steak so I wouldn’t struggle. God, we couldn’t keep our hands off each other. Holding hands, playing footsie under the table…

It was a good thing he rented the place for the night.

We visited the willow tree again, this time with Clay. Cal was a natural at being a dad.

We couldn’t stop kissing, it was becoming a problem.

In my office. In his. At home, anywhere really. We were practically magnets.

But we were always interrupted before we could do anything more—in our offices it was by our employees, at home it was by Florence or Clay.

Callum was addictive and the wait was starting to drive me mad to a point where I had to relieve myself in the shower thinking about him.

I finally filed a restraining order against Christian. With the video footage from the shop and all the voicemail he left me—it was enough to finally get him out of my life.

I laid in bed the whole day, and Cal stayed by my side, playing with Clay, trying his best to make me laugh and I finally saw the resemblance between Callum and Clay. His mother was right. They did look terrifyingly alike.

It was getting colder and colder now, so it wasn’t funny anymore when Cal filled the house with smoke and triggered the fire alarm trying to cook while Clay and I had to stand outside in the cold.

We all shared a bed now.

Cal, Clay, and me.
