Chapter 12

Freshly showeredafter our gym session, the five of us head downstairs and spread out around the kitchen island. I’m still thinking about Hailey while I grab five waters from the fridge and hand them out.

I wasn’t just fucking with her today. I want her bad and it’s driving me insane.

I should hate her by default, and I do a little bit, but I still want the mouthy little brat all the same. I want to know what makes her tick. I want to know what she likes and what she doesn’t like, what she does in her free time when I’m not around to watch her. I want to know if she sleeps naked, if she likes being fucked fast and hard or slow and deep. I want to know about the daisy tattoo on her thumb. I want to know if she has scars, inside and out. I want to know about her family and her life and her ambitions and shit. I want to know everything.

It’s fucking ridiculous, but there you have it.

I’m obsessed with a girl who fascinates me and infuriates me all at once, and I see no way to stop it. No way out and no way to turn it the fuck off.

And then there’s the fact that she won’t let me have her, that she doesn’t want to want me back, which just makes it ten times worse. Wanting something I can’t have is new to me, and I have no clue what to do or how to handle it.

My dick starts to grow at the mere thought of her, and I adjust the needy fucker in my jeans.

When I realize it’s too quiet in here, I look up to find Callie watching me, side-eyeing my hand on my zipper as she takes a sip of water. The boys are staring at me as well.

“What?” I bite out, harsher than I meant to, but they’re used to my attitude and don’t even flinch. Callie rolls her lips together, and I sneer at her. “I hate you.”

She chuckles and shakes her head at me.

“Just fucking spit it out, Callie.”

“All right. You’re being a dick at school.”

Grinning, I reach out and play with the wet ends of her hair. “You like it when I’m a dick.”

“Kai.”

“Damn it, don’t Kai me, Callie. She deserves it.”

More silence follows, and I look over at the boys with my brows raised, waiting for them to back me up. They don’t back me up. They’re all trying their hardest not to laugh at my expense. Well, all except Damon. He almost never laughs unless he’s either really high or really mad at Callie.

“What the fuck is so funny?” I ask, glaring at Wren when he starts laughing for real.

“Dude, you’re literally bullying the girl you like just so you get to be around her.”

“And making everyone think you’re fucking her so no other boy even thinks about trying to get close to her,” Callie adds, hopping up onto the counter between me and Damon. “Like I said, you’re being a dick.”

“You’re acting worse than we all did when Callie first got here,” Wren says.

Callie looks to him, confused. “Wait, what?”

“All three of them wanted you,” Levi tells her, gesturing to me and my brothers, and I don’t miss the sly little smirk on Damon’s face. Wren and I did want her at first, but Damon knows it was always him, the cocky fucker. “Damon’s just lucky he’s the one you wanted back.”

“You’re just lucky she didn’t want Wren,” I say, enjoying the way his face falls because I really am a dick and his jealousy amuses me.

“Wren was always mine.”

“Except when he had a crush on Callie.”

“It wasn’t a crush,” Wren mutters, running his hands over Levi’s chest and shoulders.

“But you wanted to fuck her,” Levi accuses, using his hips to pin him against the counter.

“Maybe,” my brother teases, his hands moving over his neck and up to his dirty blond hair.

“Let’s not forget he did fuck her.”

“Kai, will you shut up?” Levi growls, doing something to Wren that makes him whimper.

Getting back to the point, I say, “I don’t know why you’re all giving me shit about how I’m treating Hailey. Have you forgotten who she’s fucking?”

“I don’t think she’s fucking him,” Levi mumbles into Wren’s mouth.

Wren nods, speaking to me with his lip trapped between Levi’s teeth. “I don’t either.”

“Of course you agree with him. He makes you come.”

He nods again, grinning as they continue to kiss.

I blow out a frustrated breath and turn to Damon and Callie for their opinion, throwing my hands up in annoyance when I find him standing between her open legs with his hands moving over her thighs, their mouths locked in a kiss.

“Where’re you going?” Damon asks me, not bothering to look up as he cups his wife’s pussy over her jeans.

“You all make me jealous as fuck and I’m sick of it. I’m gonna go get laid.”

“Ha!” Callie laughs, tipping her head back for Damon so he can get to her throat. “Hey, lover boy?”

“What?”

“Bring me back a mocha latte.”

I glare at that. “You’re an asshole.”

She laughs at me again.

It’stwo minutes before closing when I get to the coffee shop, almost bumping into Wyatt and his friends on their way out the door.

“Bye, Hailey,” one of the dark-haired guys calls teasingly over his shoulder, and I stare at the side of his face, resisting the urge to grab him by the polo shirt he’s wearing and toss his ass to the ground.

“Bye,” she says back, smiling politely but barely sparing him a glance.

Good girl.

“Hey, you sure you don’t wanna come with u?—”

“Dude, shut up,” the blond guy next to him hisses, jabbing his elbow into his arm.

The dark haired one swings his head around to me, his eyes widening as he side-steps out of my way.

Hailey sees me then, and her shoulders drop with an exhale, her eyes closing for a second before she goes back to cleaning one of the tables in the middle of the empty shop.

Wyatt looks from me to her, then back to me again, his gaze hardening as if he thinks he can stop me from going in there. I stop at his side just inside the doorway, keeping my eyes on Hailey and my voice low to ensure she doesn’t hear me. “Get out before I throw you out on your ass right in front of her.”

He hesitates, the brave fucker, then does as he’s told, bitterly shaking his head at me while he leaves with his friends. They don’t dare say a word to each other while they walk away, silent as they get into Wyatt’s car parked across the street.

Checking my watch, I flip the sign on the door from open to closed, then move toward Hailey. I came here with the intent to mess with her some more, but I stop short, shutting my mouth as I take in her appearance. She’s as beautiful as always, but she looks tired, defeated, her pretty blue eyes bloodshot and glassy. When she walks behind the counter and hooks the rag she was using into the back pocket of her shorts, she doesn’t even glare at me. She just cleans her hands and takes a plastic cup from the stack. “Same as always, right?”
