It had been a week since the incident with Shannon went down. When I got to the hospital, they x-rayed my hand, cleaned it, and stitched me up. The bullet went through and through, so I was sent home at the end of the night with antibiotics. The stitches were dissolvable, so I didn’t have to worry about going back to the hospital to get them removed.
I was shocked as hell when Shannon showed up at my parents’ house because I never told her where they lived. The police told me she had somehow tracked my location from her phone. From what I was told, she’d been tracking it for a while. The next day, I got a whole new phone with a brand-new number.
Shannon didn’t have to serve any jail time because it was her first offense, so she only received a fine and probation. She also had to go to therapy because there was something wrong with her. She convinced me and the judge that it was an accident, and I honestly didn’t want to deal with going to court. I did file a restraining order against her, and if she ever came near me again, she wouldn’t make it to see another day. I wouldn’t give her the chance to cause me or my family any harm.
Wynter and I had a long talk the same night I was released from the hospital, and I was happy as hell she didn’t hold that shit against me. She was pissed, though, that I didn’t tell her about Shannon, but I couldn’t blame her. Things between us had been good, and to show her how much I cared and loved her, I was taking her to Paris for a week. It would be just the two of us. Little O would stay between my parents’ house and Wynter’s parents.
I loved my little man so much, and I would miss him, but I wanted Wynter and me to have some quality time together, and if I could put another baby in her, that would be great.
I talked with her father a couple of days ago about proposing to her, and he gave me his blessing. I wasn’t trying to lose her again.
She and Little O were my world, and I would do anything for them.
The house I purchased wasn’t move in ready yet, so I had been staying at Wynter’s since I left the hospital. It was a wonderful feeling waking up and going to sleep with her and my son.
At night, after we put Little O to bed, Wynter and I would talk and fuck until we went to bed.
On the days she worked, I would spend all day with Little O, and we would cook her dinner. I would rub her feet while we watched movies together. I wanted to do anything I could to make her life easier.
“Osiris, what are you doing in there?” Wynter asked from the other side of the bathroom door.
I was supposed to be getting myself together, but instead, I was reflecting on the life we were slowly building together.
I pulled the bathroom door open and smiled at her with her hands on her hips in her bathrobe.
She had gotten her hair done for the trip, so her locs were pulled off her face, and it was my favorite look on her. The sunlight coming through the window made her gold nose ring sparkle.
I stared into her chocolate eyes. My baby was so fucking pretty.
“Damn, girl. How do you know I wasn’t in there taking a shit?” I teased.
She sucked her teeth and pushed me. “Move out of the way.”
I chuckled and grabbed her by the waist and pushed her back out of the bathroom toward the bedroom.
“What are you doing? We have to go,” she fussed.
“We have the place to ourselves, and we have time.” I gently pushed her onto the bed and undid the tie on her robe.
“Make it quick.” She smirked and opened her legs.
“Say no more.”
We’d been in Paris for three days, and Wynter was having the time of her life. We’d eaten French cuisine and did all sorts of touristy shit. I’d taken her to places that I had never been to, even though I lived here for years.
“I can see why you never left. This place is beautiful,” Wynter said as we stood in front of the Eiffel Tower.
“It is beautiful, but honestly, I knew this wasn’t my forever home. It was lonely over here sometimes.”
She cut her eyes at me. “You had Shannon.” She rolled her eyes, but I noticed the slight smirk on her face.
“Too soon, Wyn.”
She laughed and pulled out her camera to take a picture. I purchased her a new camera before we left because I wanted her to be able to take good pictures, and a camera phone wouldn’t do the pictures justice.
Wynter turned toward me and stood on her tiptoes and put her hand on the back of my neck. I leaned down so our lips were close but not touching.
“I appreciate everything you have done for me since we’ve been here and since we reconnected. I love you, Osiris, and I love the father you are to our son. Thank you for being someone he can look up to. Thank you for showing me what it’s like to be loved. I never thought I would have to share Little O with anyone, but I’m glad I get to share him with you.”
Her words made my chest swell.
“You make it easy, baby.” I pecked her lips, then stood back. I reached into my pocket and grabbed her hand. “Since we are expressing feelings and shit…” I lowered to one knee and opened the ring box. Her eyes widened and watered. “Wynter, when we met three years ago, I never would have imagined we would have been anything more than classmates, but I always wanted you to be mine. Shit happened, and it didn’t work out, but I believe it worked out the way it should have. I’m proud of you for chasing your dreams and not letting being a single mother stop that. I love to see you with our son every day and teaching him how to be a good human. I love you for loving me. I refuse to let you get away from me again, so I have a question. Wynter Williams, will you marry me?”
“Yes!” She shouted and giggled.
I put the ring on her finger, stood, then pulled her into my arms. “I love you, Wyn.”
“I love you too, Osiris.”
An hour later, we were back at my apartment. There were boxes everywhere because I had to ship some stuff to the States, but it didn’t stop me from creating a romantic atmosphere.
“I think you should have kept this place. I like it.”
“I like it, too, but I’m trying to build a new life with you, so what if at some point we find another place to live in whenever we come here? We can have a vacation home, just two bedrooms though.”
“I like that idea.”
Since I had gotten rid of my furniture except the bed and the dining room table, Wynter and I sat on a makeshift pallet in front of the fireplace.
“Can I ask you something?”
“You can ask me anything you want.”
I had no idea of the question she would ask, but I was prepared to answer anything she needed to know. I didn’t want any secrets heading into marriage.
It hadn’t been a whole day yet, but I was in disbelief that Wynter and I were engaged. I would have never guessed she and I would reconnect again.
“Why didn’t you take things further with Shannon?”
I moved closer to her and pulled her into my arms. Her question was unexpected, but I had an answer.
“Shannon was cool, but there was always something in the back of my mind that stopped me from going there. I never knew what it was, but I guess we see what it was now. You,” I kissed her lips, “are the only woman for me. Anyone else was just a temporary fix. Now,” I kissed her again, “if you don’t mind, I have some other things in mind than talking about people who don’t mean shit.”
“Care to share.” She smirked.
“Indeed, I do.” I lay on my back and pulled her on top of me.
After we arrived back at my place, we showered and ate dinner. Wynter only had on one of my T-shirts with nothing underneath.
I slid my hands underneath the shirt and traced her back up to her neck. I grabbed the back of her neck and brought her face down to my lips.
We shared a heated kiss as my dick threatened to pop out of my boxers. Our tongues fought for control as we moaned into each other’s mouths. Wynter’s hips ground against me.
“Pull my dick out and put it in you,” I said when I briefly broke the kiss.
I watched with hooded eyes as Wynter removed the shirt, lifted up, and slid down my dick. Her pussy was hot and ready like it always was for me.
“Si,” she moaned when she started riding me.
“We making a baby tonight,” I told her as I massaged one of her titties.
I knew she was on birth control, but I wanted my intentions to be known. I missed out with Little O, but I would never miss another birth of my children again.
This trip was solely to review the restaurant for my mom, but it turned out to be more than I imagined.
