Iwas both surprised and upset when I got home last night to find an empty house. My sleep was restless without being curled up in one of my mate’s arms. The bags under my eyes told me as much. “You brought me coffee and breakfast.”

“I know Nat normally cooks and figured you’d starve before you bravely try working the stove. I’ve heard you”re not the best cook.”

“Seriously, I’m not that bad.” I scoffed, taking the coffee and bag from him. I had finished the coffee I made from home, so this was perfect. I peered into the bag and smiled at the sight of a blueberry muffin.

“Ha, she tells me she loves me when I bring her coffee.” Tate chuckled, wrapping his arms around my shoulders and pulling me against him. He placed a kiss on the top of my head, sending shivers down my spine.

I watched Jax for any sign of jealousy, surprised when I found none.

I gave Tate a sarcastic smile, making my tone sweet and seducing. “I told you, I say I love you to the coffee, not you, beastly.”

His smile fell before a sly smirk took its place. Mischief danced in his eyes as he stared into mine. “It won”t be long before you”re saying those exact words to me, little minx.”

“Keep telling yourself that, beastly,” I said, dancing out of his hold and sauntering over to Jax. “Thank you so much for the breakfast.” I placed a quick kiss on his lips before heading to class.

“Why does he get a kiss?” Tate hollered behind me.

“He brought me a muffin,” I told him without turning around, holding the bag up over my head.

“That is a bad bloodstone, if you feel it draining your powers, I suggest you look into getting a new one,” Knox said, flipping the slide so a picture of obsidian showed, sitting next to a crystal I wasn’t familiar with.
