Liam

I woke up in a soft bed, I felt battered and foggy as I peeled my eyes open.

I watched as Grayson laid besides me, sleeping.

It was light outside; I figured that several hours had passed. There had been a big bruise on his arm, but something told me that I looked a whole lot worst.

We were alone in the hospital and disappointment filled me. I tried to sit up and was tortured by a fierce throbbing pain that shot down from my shoulder.

I glanced down to see my upper arm and shoulder wrapped with bandages.

Grayson stirred, he gave me a relieved sigh, “Finally.”

“What, you know you can’t get rid of me that easily.” I whispered.

“I hate you.” He mumbled as I laughed, then winced in pain.

“Yeah, you have got to stop spending so much time in the hospital bed.” I explained as he rolled his eyes.

“Between you and Adrianna, is this going to be a thing. I have to worry about both of you being accident prone?” He joked as I laughed.

“We are twins.” I made a point.

“What did I sign up for, my best friend and my girlfriend are going to end up sending me to the emergency room for how much I worry.” He breathed out as I shook my head.

“Speaking of twin, I’m guessing she gave me the blood?” I asked as he nodded.

“Well, I would’ve offered mine but I’m afraid I would kill you because we are incompatible.” He informed me as I flipped him off.

“I’m glad you were the one I woke up to.” I concluded as he gave me a look of annoyance.

“We both know that’s a lie, and before you ask… yes Margo’s okay. She has been guarding your bed almost all night, but Adrianna forced her to come out and put food in her system.” He noted as I let out a deep and awaited sigh.

“What ended up happening after the police got there?” I asked.

“Well, Angelo passed away. But I’m sure you saw that… you knocked Ben out pretty cold from what I remember, he’s going to jail for sexual assault and a lot of other illegal shit.”

“All the women on the basement that were kidnapped, I’m pretty sure all the police officers were doing everything they can to find their rightful homes.”

“Margo got checked out, you aren’t going to like this, but it turns out she’s been getting abused by Ben for months. She was riddled with bruises, and she was close to overdosing on pain relievers.”

I felt my heart drop and my blood pressure rise.

“Ben is not going to get out of prison for a while. Trust me.” Grayson finished off as I exhaled.

Ben was lucky I was far from him, or else I would’ve killed him myself.

“Is she okay now?” I asked as he nodded.

I swallowed as I watched Neil and Chris walk back into the room with bags full of food.

“Oh, thank god you’re okay, I was wondering who would end up eating all of the food we bought.” Neil teased as Chris came up and gave me a small hug.

“I'm really glad you guys are here,” I said softly, feeling a warm sense of gratitude for my friends.

Neil grinned, “Of course. Where else would we be? Plus, someone’s got to make sure you don’t overdose on hospital pudding.”

Chris laughed, as he placed the bags on the table. “And to save you from the questionable cafeteria food. We got your favorites!”

I smiled, and felt a tear of happiness threaten to escape.

What would I do without my best friends.

Neil pulled out a sandwich and waved it in front of my face. “Alright, no more talking. Time to eat!”

As we all settled in, the room filled with the comforting aroma of familiar foods and the sound of our laughter.

“Hey, no stealing my fries!” I protested as Chris tried to sneak one from my plate.

“But they taste better when they’re yours,” He replied.

Neil chuckled, “Here we go again.”

As we chatted and joked, the hospital room seemed a little less sterile and a lot more like home.

My parents came into view as they entered in the room with Adrianna.

They brought in a bouquet of vibrant flowers and a stack of my favorite books. “We thought you could use a bit of color and some light reading,” My mom said with a warm smile.

Adrianna beamed as she hugged me, “Don’t you ever scare me like that again.” She slapped my uninjured arm.

She earned a kiss by Grayson as I nearly gagged.

“You guys are going to make me sicker than the medication I’m taking.” I joked as Grayson pulled his middle finger out.

“The doctor said that since your shoulder only got shot, it should heal pretty quickly and completely. You will be able to use your arm like before.” He primed as I nodded.

The door opened once more, my beautiful, blonde angel had walked in with a small and scared smile on her face.

Margo’s presence quieted the whole room, I knew it shut me up, seeing her angel like hair and porcelain skin, and baby blue eyes. She was the epitome of pureness.

“Well, that’s our queue to go.” Grayson announced as everyone dispersed out of the room.

Which left me and Margo, all alone.
