CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE

JAI

“ G oodness, what I would give to be Milan right now,” I murmured, completely absorbed in the pages of Finessing My Way Into A Playa’s Heart by Jai Love. I had just reached a steamy sex scene between Milan and Blaze. There were enticing moments sprinkled throughout the book, but that particular scene had to be by far my favorite.

“Jai, can we talk?” Maleek's voice broke through my reverie as he stepped into our bedroom.

Letting out an exasperated sigh, I reluctantly set my Kindle down, feeling a mix of irritation and intrigue. I gestured toward the bed, inviting him to sit, noting the smile that crept across his face at my acceptance.

“I see you’re getting back into your books, huh?” he asked, trying to make conversation.

“It’s taking me away from the stuff I have to deal with in reality,” I plainly answered.

“Look, Jai, I know shit has been crazy between us lately, and I don’t like all this distance between us. Before you found out about the lease and Mama having a key, when can you honestly say was the last time we really argued?”

I paused, letting his question sink in. It surprised me to realize that I couldn’t recall the last time we had an argument or even a disagreement. In truth, it was rare for us to have either. Our relationship typically flowed smoothly.

“You’re right,” I admitted, my voice softening. “But that doesn’t take away from the fact that you’ve been keeping things from me—things we could have discussed openly and worked through together as a couple, Leek.”

“I understand that now, and I want to say I’m sorry, baby. To show you how serious I am, I even got the key back from my mama.”

With that, Maleek reached into his pocket and pulled out the key, holding it up as if it were a precious token. I couldn’t help but let out an internal chuckle, though I maintained an impressed facade outwardly.

“And how did you manage to do that?” I was curious to hear his answer, well, lie.

“I just told her that me and you were in a bad space because of that.”

“And she just handed it over to you just because of that?” I queried.

“Well, yeah.”

“Hmm. Well, I guess you’ve earned your way back into the bedroom.”

In excitement, he hurriedly crawled between my legs with anticipation of getting some.

I pressed my hand against his chest.

“Leek, you’ve earned your way back into the bedroom, not my pussy, at least not right now. My period is on.”

A look of disappointment crossed his face.

“Shit, for how long?” Maleek asked as he pulled away.

“Three days. I got you as soon as it goes off.”

“Aight. I can hold off another three days, but it’s been a while since we’ve been out. I want to take you on a date Saturday… your choice.”

Out of all the weekends, hell, days, he wanted to finally take me on a date, it had to be that one. Savvy and I had made plans for that Saturday, and honestly, I couldn't bear the thought of canceling on him, especially since Maleek had a reputation for frequently backing out of commitments at the last minute.

“I’m all for it, but can we possibly do it next weekend?” I asked, attempting to balance my honesty with a touch of compassion. “Cali and I already have plans, and you know how hard it is for her to get a break from the twins. She truly needs this time to unwind,” I explained, weaving my story with a practiced ease.

After I finished speaking, there was a moment of silence where I held my breath. I feared he might feel rejected or upset by my request. However, to my relief, he seemed to take it in stride, maintaining a calm demeanor as he considered my words.

“Aight. That’s cool. But while we wait for mother nature to move out of the way, let a nigga suck a titty or some, baby. I need to feel you some kind of way,” he desperately pleaded, caressing my leg.

Maleek was staring at me like a sad puppy. Feeling a little sympathy for him, I removed my pajama top, causing my titties to pop out. Licking his lips, Maleek stood and removed his bottoms, then came over to me and proceeded to suck my titties while he jacked his dick off.

Maleek probably couldn’t fuck me worth shit, but he had an amazing tongue, and that thing did wonders on my nipples and whenever he would eat my pussy.

“I can’t believe you’re going on a date with a nigga other than Leek! Whew! Now I really can’t wait to meet this guy!” Cali exclaimed as she put the finishing touches on my makeup to prepare me for my ‘date’ with Savvy.

Before heading to Cali’s house, Maleek tried to get some pussy, but I told him that my period was still on–of course, he took my word for it as he didn’t see a reason as to why I would lie, I assumed. Be that as it may, I wanted to leave him a little pleased so he wouldn’t be blowing up my phone all night or even think I was out doing something I had no business doing, so I gave him the best head that I had probably ever given him. The satisfaction on Maleek’s face afterward made me feel as though I had successfully exceeded his expectations. It was a relief to know that my efforts had paid off. I also made sure to swing by to visit my grandfather, whose warm smile and wise words always had a way of brightening my mood. Despite those positive experiences, a sense of nervousness lingered in the pit of my stomach as I thought about my upcoming date with Savvy.

“I’m nervous, though, Cali. Like, I don’t know what to expect! What if we get caught? Or what if…”

“Y’all end up having sex?” Cali said what I wanted to say.

I looked at Cali, and she just shrugged with insouciance.

“What? I only said what you wanted to say.”

“What if we do, though?”

“Then y’all just gon’ have sex. Period. Jai, you worry too much, my love. I mean, it’s not like you couldn’t use a night of some good dick. What if you have a great night and get the best dick of your life tonight? Lord knows I’m due for a date night with a very nasty ending.”

Leave it to Cali to serve up some rather questionable advice. I let out a deep sigh as I mulled over her words. While her take had a ring of truth to it, I firmly believed that I wasn’t capable of cheating—or at least I hoped I wasn’t, especially since Maleek had never given me any indication that he had cheated before. Suddenly, my thoughts were jolted back to the moment by the sharp chime of her doorbell.

“Ouuuuuuu! That must be him! Just in time!” Cali exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with excitement, appearing more thrilled than I felt at that moment.

Shaking my head, I pushed myself up from the plush chair and trailed behind her to the door. As she flung the door open, there stood Savvy—an image of suave charm. He held a bouquet of vibrant flowers, with a smile illuminating his face, and was dressed head to toe in sleek black.

“Good evening, ladies,” he greeted us, his voice smooth like velvet.

“Hi, Savvy,” I managed to say, a rush of heat flooding my cheeks as I felt all eyes on me.

“Hey, gorgeous,” he replied, eyeing me lasciviously. “For you,” he added, extending the colorful bouquet toward me, the sweet scent wafting gently in the air.

Cali cleared her throat dramatically, waiting for an introduction.

I chuckled. “Cali, this is Savvy, who you’ve been dying to meet,” I put her on blast. “Savvy, this is my cousin, who is also my confidant, best friend, and all that good stuff,” I introduced the two.

“Well, it’s good to finally meet the man who has―”

I nudged Cali in her side before she ran out.

“It’s good to finally meet you, Savvy,” she stated instead.

Savvy laughed. “It’s good to meet you, too.”

After doing a little more talking and them getting to know each other, and laughing, Savvy and I prepared to leave.

“Um, Savvy, just a quick reminder; Jai has a curfew tonight, so please make sure she’s home at a reasonable hour,” Cali said, her tone reminiscent of a concerned mother.

Savvy turned to me, his brows raised in curiosity.

“I’ll explain everything when we get into the car,” I assured him, knowing he must’ve been wondering about the situation.

Savvy nodded. “It was nice meeting you, Cali, and I promise I’ll have her back well before curfew,” he promised sincerely.

“See, I like him already!” Cali exclaimed enthusiastically, her eyes sparkling with approval.

“See you later, Cali!” I called out, waving as I made my way to Savvy's car. “Bye, y’all! Have a great time! And Jai, please do something that I?—”

I quickly shut the door, cutting her off mid-sentence before she could unleash another one of her playful demands.

Savvy chuckled softly. “Your cousin is a trip.”

“Oh, you don’t even know the half of it!” I replied, shaking my head with a grin as I climbed into the passenger seat.

“I like her, though,” he admitted after getting in his car. “Now, a woman like her would be the perfect match for my cousin Draco.”

“Oh, no! You don’t know Cali like I do! Those two will definitely be fighting every day.”

Savvy chuckled. “You don’t think yo’ nigga gon’ come searching for you, will he? Not that he’ll be able to find you where we’re going.”

Being that I was still in a relationship and a lot of people knew Leek, Savvy, and I, more so me, decided that it was best that he just cook for me at one of his places instead of us being out in the open.

“No. He thinks I’m hanging out with Cali tonight. That’s why I asked you to pick me up from over here. I was worried for a minute because, coincidently, her boyfriend and mine are brothers.”

“Brothers, you say?” He seemed very interested in that.

“Yeah, but Cali assured me that her boyfriend would be away from the house at least until midnight, just in case mine asked him about me being over here. So, I’m kind of on my Cinderella shit tonight. I gotta be back before midnight strikes!” I kidded. “But that’s what Cali meant by having me back at a decent time.”

He nodded. “That’s more than enough time for what I have planned. You ready to ride off into the sunset with a nigga?”

I grinned. I was almost tempted to say, “ I’m ready to ride with you, on you, and for you for the rest of my life.” Instead, I replied, “Although the sun has already set, yeah, I’m ready. I’m really ready to see how those hands of yours work in the kitchen.”

“Shid, likewise.”

“Dang, I forgot!”

Savvy reminded me that I said I would make dessert since he volunteered to cook dinner.

“Yeah, yo’ ass thought you were off the hook! But nah, that ain’t the only thing you gon’ see how it works tonight.” He winked. “Sit back and enjoy the ride, gorgeous.”

I took his advice, and we headed out. Thirty minutes later, we arrived at a secluded, gated entrance nestled among towering trees. The atmosphere was serene, adding to the sense of isolation.

“Fancy, huh?” I joked, trying to mask my surprise at the exclusivity of the place.

Savvy turned to me with a playful smirk as he inputted the security code to open the gate.

Every time Savvy smiled, his perfectly white teeth gleamed brightly, instantly drawing my attention. It was clear he took pride in his appearance, especially his impeccable oral hygiene, something I found rather admirable. After the heavy gates swung open, Savvy drove straight ahead along a winding path lined with lush greenery. Before long, we approached an all-black house that seemed to rise from the ground like a shadow. I had never encountered a black house before, and I was utterly captivated by its unique charm and elegance.

“This is absolutely beautiful!” I exclaimed, my voice filled with genuine awe.

“Yeah, it only gets better from here. Come on.”

“Can I bring the flowers with me? I want to put them in some water.”

“I bought them for you. So, you can take them back home with you, ya know?”

I cocked my head and chuckled.

“Really, Savvy? Take them home so I can get bombarded with a thousand questions. I appreciate the gesture, and my God, they’re so beautiful, but I can’t take these home.”

“I know. I was just fuckin’ with you. Yeah, you can bring them inside.”

After coming to open my door, we walked hand in hand up to the doorstep.

“Did I forget to tell you how beautiful you look tonight?” he asked.

“Actually, you did. ” I chuckled.

“I’m sorry, gorgeous. You look beautiful tonight.”

“Well, thank you. You’re looking fly as well, rocking your all-black everything.”

“’Preciate it.”

“I have to say, it’s nice to see you in something other than a suit.”

“The work me, outside me, and home me are three completely different people… literally. We don’t talk or look the same,” he said.

“Same here,” I agreed.

Savvy stopped once we made it to the doorstep and gently brushed his thumb across my cheek.

“Y’all look the same to me. I just think the makeup enhanced your beauty a little. But what I’m curious about is, how does the bedroom you look?”

I exhaled deeply at his touch, then stared into his eyes.

“You might get lucky and meet her one day… maybe soon.”

I couldn’t believe I had said that to him, but Savvy was easing himself into my heart, one that was supposed to have been for another man in a way that intrigued me yet frightened me.

“Let’s get inside before the neighbors finally find out my name.”

I smiled.

“But look, stand back right quick. I need to make sure my dogs are put up in a room or outside.”

“D-Dogs?! You have dogs?!” I panicked.

“Yeah. I’m about to take them outside, though. Hold on.”

I waited outside, pacing back and forth until Savvy returned.

“Aight, gorgeous, you can come in.”

I hesitated, peeking my head around the doorframe.

“Are they outside?” I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.

Savvy let out a light chuckle, clearly amused by my nervous demeanor.

“Yeah, they're outside.”

Taking a deep breath, I cautiously stepped inside, my eyes scanning the space for any signs of the dogs.

Savvy tilted his head knowingly. “You’re scared of dogs, I take it?”

“Terrified, actually! I had a really bad experience with one when I was younger, and I’ve been afraid ever since,” I admitted, recalling the unsettling memory that still lingered in my mind.

“Well, I have six big ass dogs, so you’d really be scared of mine then.”

“That might be a deal breaker for me then when it comes to us,” I joked but was serious at the same time. I really didn’t fuck around with dogs like that.

“So you want me to choose between you and my dogs? They’re like family.”

“Well, if we were actually together, I’d prefer a little favoritism over your family.” I giggled.

“Well, if we’re together , you wouldn’t have a choice but to get used to them because they’ll be around all the time, and they’re not really fond of strangers. But, for now, I’ll keep them away when you come around.”

“Thank you.”

“I’ma head to the kitchen to get dinner started. Make yourself at home. Don’t get too comfortable, though; your ass is still on brownie duty!” he called back, a playful smirk spreading across his face.

I chuckled, shaking my head.

“I got you.”

On our way there, I asked Savvy what kind of dessert he preferred, and to my delight, he mentioned that brownies were his favorite. It was a pleasant surprise when he revealed that he had all the ingredients in his kitchen, ready for me to whip them up from scratch. I strolled through Savvy’s living room, taking in the atmosphere. The interior mirrored the striking black facade of the house, creating a modern yet moody vibe. Although it had the look of a typical bachelor pad, it was impeccably clean, with every surface polished and organized.

“Quick question,” I said, gliding my hand over the sleek sofa, its fabric soft beneath my fingertips. “How do you manage to take care of your dogs here if your main house is thirty minutes away?” I was intrigued by his living situation.

“Actually, this is my main house,” Savvy replied, his voice carrying from the kitchen. “The place where my brother stays is just an investment property I purchased. For now, I have someone looking after the dogs here, but don’t worry; that person isn’t around at the moment.”

I nodded. After a quick, cursory glance around the living room, I joined him in the kitchen. I felt a twinge of curiosity about the rest of Savvy's home. The thought of exploring his bedroom crossed my mind, but I hesitated, unsure of the surprises—both pleasant and potentially awkward—that I might encounter. With lingering uncertainty, I decided to keep my exploration limited for now.

“What kind of dogs do you have?” I inquired, my curiosity piqued as I leaned against the counter, observing him deftly preparing dinner.

“I have two Cane Corsos, two Rottweilers, and two pit bulls,” Savvy answered, a hint of pride in his voice as he mentioned each breed.

"Who needs those many dogs? Geesh! Yeah, I’ma stay as far away from your house, well, this one anyway.” I joked, though there was an underlying seriousness in my tone. The thought of such a formidable pack made me wary.

Savvy chuckled. “They’re protectors, and they’ll definitely look after someone like you; actually, I think they will love you,” he replied with a reassuring grin.

I smiled.

As Savvy and I took turns in the kitchen, the rich aromas of the meal filled the air, and I couldn’t help but feel comfortable as we chatted about a wide range of topics. It was refreshing to open up and share thoughts with a guy other than Maleek. Once we cleaned up the remnants of our meal, we settled comfortably onto the sofa, feeling satisfied and relaxed.

“Savvy, that casserole was so good!” I exclaimed, savoring the blend of chicken, cheese, shrimp, and broccoli. “You have to share your recipe with me, even though it seems fairly straightforward.”

“It is, but I don’t mind sharing it with you,” he replied, grinning as he leaned back.

I turned to him, intrigued.

“I suppose you must have inherited your impressive cooking skills from your mom?”

“You could say that. What about you? Because those brownies were good as hell. Shid, better than my mama’s, and I thought nobody could outdo her when it came to baking, but just between us, don’t tell her I said that."

I chuckled lightly, appreciating the sweet moment.

"Your secret is safe with me, but grandmother is the one to thank for my bakery skills."

I sighed, getting a little emotional. Savvy paused for a moment, sensing the shift in conversation.

“If you don’t mind me asking, what happened to your parents? I remember you didn’t want to go into detail last time, so if you’re still not ready, I completely understand. No pressure at all.”

“Thank you for being so understanding, Savvy. It’s okay to share. My mom passed away the same day after giving birth to me, which left a huge void in my family. My dad, on the other hand, died while serving in the army, protecting our country. He had always wanted to follow in my grandfather's footsteps and be part of something bigger than himself."

“Damn, I’m really sorry to hear that. So your dad was a soldier like your granddaddy, huh?” he asked, his voice softening with sympathy.

“Yeah, he was,” I responded, a smile creeping onto my face as I thought about my grandfather's stories of bravery and honor.

I shifted closer to him, eager to hear more stories and continue the conversation, feeling a connection growing between us.

“Savvy, how do you feel about going 50/50 with a woman?” Although I had asked Kiora that already, I wanted to hear it from a man’s perspective, his to be exact.

Savvy shrugged. “What works for some doesn’t work for others. As for me, I believe a relationship should be 50/50. As long as my woman exists, I’ma take care of her.” He smiled.

“I guess that’s a way you can put it. So, hypothetically, if I were your woman, you’re saying, if there was anything I wanted, I could have it.”

“Yes. Nothing would be off limits to you.”

“So, if I said I wanna go to Europe next month, you’d take me? No questions asked?” I tested him.

“The only question I’ma ask is, what day, gorgeous.”

“Hmph.”

“You seem impressed,” he said.

“I am.”

“Only because you haven’t been dating a real man. Stop dating niggas who don’t know shit about vacations, surprises, and flowers. When you’re with me, this is your world, gorgeous. I’m different over here.”

“Obviously. But it’s not about giving a woman the world; it’s about making her feel like she’s the only one in it. And I don’t like asking a man for anything. I like to see what he’ll do for me on his own.”

Savvy scooted closer to me and then hovered over me, forcing me to lay back.

“A man should definitely study his queen so he can give her what she wants without asking, and right now, my intuition is telling me that you need to be fucked… real good.”

I do , I almost slipped and said.

“You do, huh?” he assumed, based on my silence.

“I… I…”

I struggled to find the words because Savvy began to kiss me. I had never felt lips as soft as his. I lost myself in the kiss, momentarily forgetting that I was in a relationship. Forcing myself to break away, I finally did.

“Savvy, we can’t. I’m…”

Once again, my words trailed off and fell on deaf ears, but that time, it was because he was tugging at the skirt I had on.

“Savvy, wh-what are you doing?” I asked as if I really didn’t know or even want it to happen.

“Act like you didn’t mean to wear this short ass skirt over here. You’re asking to get fucked, Jai.” Savvy then proceeded to remove my shirt and kiss my neck as he spoke.

“Jai, I want to fill you up with love, confidence, and a big ass dick. I want to eventually be the reason you no longer need batteries. I don’t think you’re ready for the dick tonight. I’ll let you decide when you are. So, instead, I’ma just let my tongue show you how much I crave you.”

Once he spoke those words, my skirt, including my panties, were on the floor. Savvy then pulled up my shirt, along with my bra, and began trailing kisses, starting at my chest, moving to my breasts, down my abdomen, and ending at my pussy. His hands reached for the apex of my thighs, and then he pried my legs open to get a better view.

“Damn, she’s pretty,” Savvy complimented my kitty as he admired her.

With no hesitation, he dived face in.

“Mmm,” I moaned lightly with my hand placed atop his head and eyes rolling to the back of my head.

With one bold swipe of his tongue, I already knew he would surpass Leek in a eating pussy contest. Once Savvy knew he had found my spot, he fired off short little licks and sucks.

“Sa-Savvy,” I cooed breathlessly, loving every second of him being between my legs and not feeling an ounce of remorse for having a boyfriend.

“Damn, baby, you taste so good. So fuckin’ good.” He groaned.

You taste good is the compliment of all compliments.

I peered down at him, and he appeared to be drowning in my taste as he drank deep from my candied well of pleasure. For a good five minutes, Savvy expertly munched, licked, sucked, and slurped all over my center until he instructed me to lie on my belly.

“On my stomach?” I asked to confirm.

Savvy wiped my juices from his mouth with his hand, then answered, “Yeah, I want to eat that pretty muthafucka from the back.”

Okkkkkkkay, I silently said, then turned over as requested. As soon as I was in position, Savvy booted me up as if he was about to deliver some dick to me. However, moments later, I felt his tongue glide across my pussy lips, but what caught me by surprise was when he stuck it in my hole. It was as if he was fucking me with his tongue. My legs began to instantly shake uncontrollably, sending me into shivers of pleasure. But what really did it next was when I felt his tongue reach my asshole.

“Ahhhh!” I shrilled in ecstasy.

I truly thought it slipped there by mistake until he continued to lick it. While doing that, he played with my clit, causing a soul-shattering orgasm to rob me of my senses.

That night, Savvy officially became the master and keeper of my soul.

“I need yo’ love tonight, gorgeous. Stay the night with me,” Savvy requested after he finished devouring my pussy from my ‘rooty to my tooty.’

Savvy’s voice was low and almost pleading as he stared intently into my eyes. The way he looked at me—it was all-consuming and magnetic, drawing me in with a force that felt both thrilling and dangerous. I could sense the power of his emotion, capable of making any woman succumb to his charm or melt beneath the pressure of his longing stare.

“I can’t, Savvy, and you know that,” I said, breaking eye contact. “Besides, you asked for dinner, not a sleepover,” I added with a playful jab, hoping to ease the moment.

Savvy’s lips turned upward in a soft smile as he pondered my response.

“Fair enough. I guess I need to be more specific about what I want next time. Maybe we can make it happen then, huh?” His words dripped with a hint of hope, painting a picture of possibilities that made me feel both excited and hesitant.

“Maybe,” I reciprocated with a smile, not wanting to dismiss the idea entirely.

“Aight,” Savvy conceded, then cast a glance at the clock ticking softly on the wall, its hands creeping closer to midnight. “It’s getting late. Let me get you back to your cousin’s crib before twelve o’clock strikes. I ain’t got to worry about you turning into a pumpkin while I’m driving, do I?” he kidded, recalling the Cinderella joke I mentioned.

“Very funny! But no, you don’t!” I chuckled. “All jokes aside, though, I really enjoyed tonight, Savvy,” I admitted, my heart warming at the memory of our time together.

“I aim to please,” he jokingly said. “But, nah, I did too. Next time will be even better.” He winked. “But let me go and brush my teeth, and I’ll be ready.”

I nodded and then retook a seat on his sofa, tossing my head back.

What the fuck did I just do? I wondered, grappling with the undeniable connection we shared and the uncertainty swirling inside me.
