CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR

SAVVY

W hen I woke up the next morning from my night with Jai, I picked up my phone and saw that she had sent me a text.

My love, Jai: Good morning, sleepy head! I just want to say again that I really enjoyed last night. I hope you have a good day.

I smirked, then immediately sent her a text back.

Me: Good morning, gorgeous. How are you? I wish I could roll over and give you some good morning sex instead of trying to find my phone to see your good morning text.

After that text, Jai and I exchanged a few more until I decided that I wanted to see her after she made it known that she was still over her cousin’s house. During our Facetime, unbeknownst to Jai, I was beating my dick. She had a nigga on hard just from the sound of her voice and the fact that her erect nipples were on display, poking through the thin top she had on. When it came time for me to nut, though, I did tell her to hold on because she would’ve not only seen it in my expression, but she also would’ve heard me groaning. After about thirty minutes of talking on the phone, Jai told me she was getting ready to head home, so we ended the call. After I got up, showered, and straightened up my room, I went to my brother’s room, where I found my pops, Skye, and Blue’s ass.

What the fuck is he doing over here so early? I wondered silently, momentarily confused. Since my brother had come to stay with me, I had expanded his circle of visitors to include family and close friends.

“Sup, everybody,” I announced. I walked over to my Pops and offered him a quick side hug. The others greeted me with nods and gentle smiles.

“How are you doing, Skye?” I addressed her specifically as I noticed her sitting closely beside my brother’s bed. “Have you been adjusting well to your new home?” I added with a playful smirk, attempting to lighten the mood, knowing the whole situation was heavy for all of us.

Skye decided it was best that she stayed near Monte in case he woke up during the middle of the night or something. She wanted to literally be there every step of the way, and I appreciated her. So, I offered her a room at my crib, and she gladly accepted it.

Skye returned my smile. “It’s definitely an upgrade from what I’m used to.” Then, she leaned in closer, her voice dropping to almost a whisper. “If it’s not too much trouble, could you possibly get another bed in here? I… I want to be closer to him.”

I nodded in understanding, feeling the gravity of her request.

“Look, Skye, what’s understood doesn’t have to be explained, especially not to me. If no one else gets it, trust me; I do. I’ll make sure you have that bed by tomorrow, even if I have to swap it out from the room you're currently sleeping in.” My words were laced with sincerity, and I genuinely wanted to help her be as close to Monte as she desired.

“Thank you, Savvy.”

“Always, sis.”

Just then, my mom cheerfully entered the room, her face lighting up with excitement.

“Breakfast is ready, everyone!” she called out.

It didn't take long for her to spot me. “Oh, there goes my baby!” Wearing a smile, she made her way over and planted a kiss on my cheek, treating me as if I were still a little boy in her eyes. “Good morning, son! Did you sleep well?”

“Good morning, Ma. I actually did,” I replied, trying to suppress a smile.

“Oh, I'm sure you did! So, how did your date go with Jai?” she asked, batting her eyelashes with curiosity.

“Really, Ma? Is that what we're discussing over breakfast?”

“Well, actually, it’s before breakfast, but,” she waved her hand dismissively. “Son, everyone in here knows about your date. Well, maybe not Blue, but he's family.”

I glanced over at Blue, who was seated on the sofa we had placed in the room with a slight smirk etched on his face. My brother might’ve considered him family, but I sure as hell didn’t.

“Yeah, Savvy, how was the date? Inquiring minds would like to know,” Skye asked.

If it had been just Skye, Ma, and Pops in the room, I wouldn’t have minded diving into the details—well, maybe not the explicit ones, but at least more than I was willing to share. However, with Blue present, I felt it was best to keep my answers brief.

“It went well,” I simply replied, trying to sound nonchalant as I stood up. “But look, I have somewhere I need to be. I’ll be back in about an hour. Do you all need anything while I’m out?”

When everyone assured me they were fine, I walked out of the room. Just as I was about to turn the corner, I heard footsteps rushing behind me and turned to see Pops catching up.

“Savvy, what’s going on?” he asked, his voice low and serious as if he sensed something was off.

“What do you mean?” I really was clueless.

“Savvy, you’re my son. I can pick up on when you have something weighing on your mind. I noticed the way you looked at Blue and how your response was so brief. Is there something going on that I should know about? Talk to me.”

I glanced over my shoulder, scanning the area to make sure no one else was around to overhear our conversation, then leaned in closer to him, determined to be honest.

“I don’t trust him, Pops. To be honest, I don’t really trust anyone outside of you, Ma, and Skye when it comes to Monte. There’s just something about Blue that doesn’t sit right with me.”

I could see the concern etched on Pops' face as he listened, and I knew that what I felt wasn’t something to take lightly.

“Okay, okay,” he said, nodding his head. “So, what do you want to do? ’Cause you know if you don’t trust a muthafucka, I sure as hell don’t.”

I smirked because he was so serious.

“Don’t do nothing drastic for now. Just keep an eye on him or any other muthafucka who comes to visit Monte. Most importantly, don’t leave him or anyone else alone in the room with Monte.”

“I got you, son.”

“Make sure to relay what I just said to Ma and Skye.”

“On it! Go handle your business. We got this.”

“Aight. Later, Pops.”

As I was leaving the house, I had an incoming call from one of the females I fucked around with.

“What’s up?” I answered in an uninterested tone.

“Well, good morning to you too. I guess you had a really busy night last night that you couldn’t answer your phone.”

I smiled, thinking about Jai. “Yeah, I did. But what’s up?”

“Well, I just wanted to know when I’ll see you again. It’s been three weeks, Bryan! I need to see you!” Kelsie pouted, calling me by the false name I had given her.

Any girl who I just looked at as a fuck partner would never know my real identity, and I didn’t see shit long-term with Kelsie and me, so she knew me as Bryan. Kelsie and I probably wouldn’t have gone that long without seeing each other, but her ass lived out of town, which I didn’t find out until after we fucked. Kelsie let it be known that she was just in town for that weekend when we met. Of course, she let a nigga hit on the same night we met.

“Look, we can meet up, but I ain’t coming all the way to you. You gon’ have to meet me halfway somewhere,” I told her straight-up.

“Okay, I can do that! Just let me know when!” The excitement was heard in her voice.

“I’ll hit you back later.”

“Okay! And make sure you do, Bryan!”

“I will! Damn!” I said, then ended the call.

That was another reason Kelsie couldn’t ever be my woman. Aside from the fact that she was one of those females who thought niggas were supposed to cater to her every need, which I shut down real quick after she asked me for some money the same week we met, Kelsie was also one of those clingy type chicks, and I didn’t like that shit.

I really didn’t want to go and see her ass. For some reason, I felt like I would’ve been cheating on Jai in some way. I hadn’t even got the pussy, and that girl had my head gone. But… at the end of the day, I was still a man with needs, and I needed to fuck some. Kelsie just happened to have some decent pussy. However, once me and Jai got serious, it was over for her and any other hoe.
