Bryan hadn’t been sure if he should bring up the elephant in the room he’d felt all evening. While Lev had been dozing on him, he’d briefly mentioned something to Rowan and Gary about it, but the knowledge in their eyes was as clear as it had been in his own mind. Lev was becoming more aware of his own feelings. He’d noticed during their entire relationship that Lev had gravitated towards Rowan whenever they were together. He hadn’t been worried. What he’d told Lev was true. He was secure in their love and their relationship, but he believed Lev was becoming more curious as time went on. Or more confident. Either way, he wanted to embrace it, but he needed to make sure that Lev wanted this for himself and wasn’t doing it because he thought it was what Bryan wanted. Bryan was more than happy with their relationship as it was. It was difficult to explain to people sometimes. He didn’t need to have a relationship—sexual or otherwise—with more than one person, but his thoughts and body didn’t refuse the idea that a relationship with more than one person was possible.
Love came in many forms, only one of them being a polyamorous version.
He should’ve waited to say something until they were in the safety of their home, but he wanted Lev to understand that, no matter what, Bryan would support him. It didn’t need to be with Rowan and Gary, but he wouldn’t say no if it was. Many times, their best friends had said that they were open to a third—or more—to add to their relationship, but they had found no one they could click with long enough for a long-term situation.
If Bryan was honest, which he would be when he spoke to Lev, he could see him and Lev merging seamlessly with Rowan and Gary. But again, he needed to make sure it was what Lev wanted because he’d never been in a poly relationship before.
When the taxi stopped outside their house, he climbed out and held his hand for Lev, who took it without pause. “Thank you,” he said to the driver before closing the door.
Lev bit his lip, wringing his hands together, and as soon as the front door closed behind them, he pulled his husband into his arms.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to worry you,” he said, rubbing his hands up and down his spine. “You know I won’t be mad about how you feel or anything, don’t you?”
“I know. I just…” Lev moved away and exhaled. “I don’t know what I’m feeling… No.” His shoulders rose, and he turned to face him, eyes wary. “That’s a lie.” He licked his lips. “I’m scared of what I’m feeling,” he whispered.
Bryan’s heart expanded at the admission. He was so proud of him. “I’m glad you told me. Can you tell me what you’re scared about? Or how you’re feeling? I might be able to help.”
Lev dropped onto the sofa, resting his head in his hands. “I don’t want to ruin anything.”
Bryan settled beside him, resting a hand on his thigh. “I promise you won’t ruin anything.”
Lev went quiet, and Bryan didn’t think he was going to speak. But then Lev lifted his head. “I’ve been watching Rowan,” he murmured. Bryan stayed quiet, hoping Lev would continue. “He’s always so sure of himself. So confident. He knows what he wants and goes for it. He’s never scared of anything.”
Bryan couldn’t help the snort of laughter that escaped, and he covered his mouth. “Sorry.” He licked his lower lip. “Is that really what you think? That he’s not scared of anything?”
“Of course, he isn’t. Nothing fazes him.”
“Yes, it does.” Bryan watched Lev, knowing he didn’t believe him. “Do you want to know how he seems so fearless?” Lev frowned but nodded. “Because he knows, no matter what happens, Gary will still be there. He’ll still love him. Flaws, mistakes and all.”
Lev’s gaze darted around the floor, his standard reaction when he was thinking through what he’d been told. “I like watching them,” he whispered finally.
Bryan smiled. “I do, too. They’re amazing people, and we have good taste.”
Lev met his gaze. “You like them, too?”
Bryan cupped Lev’s jaw. “We wouldn’t have chosen them as our best friends if there wasn’t something pulling us together. It doesn’t have to be a relationship like ours, but it could be.” He paused, brushing his thumb across Lev’s lower lip. “I need to ask, though. Is this cropping up now because you want it or because you think it’s something I want?”
Lev chuckled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. “I had this exact conversation with myself earlier tonight. I knew you’d ask.”
“And do you have an answer?”
Lev nodded and cleared his throat. “When Rowan kissed me goodbye…” He looked away, but Bryan brought his face around again, lightly brushing a kiss across his lips.
“It’s okay. No matter what you’re thinking or feeling. I won’t be upset.”
“When he kissed me goodbye, I had butterflies, and my heart raced so fast,” he admitted, rubbing his nose but continuing, “And when Gary gave me that cushion and patted me on the knee, my palms went sweaty. I…” He shrugged and then sighed, meeting his gaze. “I’m scared what I’m feeling will destroy us.”
Bryan pulled him into his arms fully. “You are so fucking strong, Lev. I’m so proud of you for telling me this, even though you’re scared.”
“I don’t want to ruin anything,” Lev choked, tears soaking into Bryan’s T-shirt.
He pulled back, cupping Lev’s jaw again. “I promise you this. No matter what does or doesn’t happen between the four of us, we’ll still be us. Bryan and Lev. Lev and Bryan. Rowan and Gary. Gary and Rowan. Okay?”
“You can’t promise that.”
Bryan grinned. “Have you met me?” Lev laughed like Bryan had wanted him to. With his heart in his throat, he asked, “Do you want to try something with Rowan and Gary?”
Lev met his gaze again, uncertainty shimmering in those green eyes. “I think I do.”
Bryan dropped a kiss on Lev’s mouth. “Then we need to talk to them first.”
Lev covered his face. “Oh, my god! That’s going to be so embarrassing.”
“Maybe, but only for a few minutes. If they decline, we go back to where we were before, no harm, no foul. And if they don’t…we see where it takes us. Okay?”
Lev nodded and exhaled, so before he changed his mind, Bryan reached for his phone and dialled.
“Bry? Everything okay?” Rowan asked when he answered.
“Yeah, yeah. Are you guys busy tomorrow night?” Lev’s eyes widened, and Bryan tightened his arm around his shoulders, keeping his gaze on his to show how sure he was that this was a good idea.
“Um, I don’t think so. Gary, do we have plans tomorrow night?” Mumbling from the background, and then Rowan came back again. “No, we’re free. Why?”
“Is it okay if we come over for a chat?”
“Sure.” Rowan dragged the word out. “Should we be worried?”
Bryan grinned. “Definitely not.”
Rowan paused. “Are you not going to at least give me a clue?”
“Nope. I’m going to let you stew. See you tomorrow.”
Rowan sighed. “Fine. See ya.” He hung up, and Bryan put his phone down.
“Everything will be fine. I promise,” he said to Lev.
Lev rose and pushed Bryan back, kneeling between his legs with a smirk. “How did I get to have such a wonderful…” he unfastened Bryan’s belt, “amazing…” he undid the button, “handsome…” he unzipped his jeans, “husband?” He pulled on the waistband, dragging them down his legs to his knees, repeating the action with his boxers before wrapping his hand around Bryan’s already leaking cock. “Whatever I did to deserve you…” he licked the head like a lollipop, “I’m going to keep doing.” He licked. “Again.” He licked. “And again.” He licked. “And again.” He sucked him into his mouth, and Bryan went lightheaded as all available blood left his head. Well, the one at the top of his body, anyway.
Bryan raked his fingers through Lev’s hair, watching every move he made. Lev cupped his free hand around Bryan’s balls, tugging gently as his tongue played with the cock in his mouth. Then one finger reached back and pressed against his taint, and Bryan couldn’t keep his eyes open any longer, lost in the sensations bombarding him.
Lev took his dick into the back of his throat, swallowing around him, and reached up and flicked a finger over his nipple. The quadruple sensation—cock, balls, taint and nipples—was enough to send him over the edge in record time, and as Bryan met Lev’s gaze the second before he orgasmed, he was reminded, once again, how he would do anything for this man.
His husband.
The man he would give anything to.
The love of his life.
