Chapter 13

Kat

T he flowers were the first thing to arrive. There was a quick knock on my door first thing in the morning and a large bouquet of red, white, and pink roses. The card read, “Happy Valentine’s my fake fiancée. From your real love”.

When I got to work there was a box of chocolates sitting on my desk. That card said, “We have a party tonight. Don’t forget”.

Next came a stunning red dress. It was form-fitting with shear sleeves that had rhinestone shimmering hearts all over them and an open scoop back. This one didn’t have a card. It was hand-delivered by his sister Daphne.

“This is a bit much, don’t you think?” I took the dress from her.

“Oh yeah, but my brother has never done anything half-assed.” She laughed. “Kind of a family creed. If you’re going to do anything, go whole ass or don’t go at all.”

“Do you guys have that on shirts or something?”

“No, but it might not be a bad idea.” She laughed harder. “Think I could sell Hailey on a new flavor of ice cream called going whole ass?”

“Hailey, maybe. The rest of the world, not really.” I couldn’t imagine anyone buying that.

“I didn’t think so.” She smiled. “We’ll just keep that in the family vault.”

I stared back at her. “Is there really a vault of family flavors of ice cream?” That would be a great thing to see.

She ran her finger over her lips. “Have a great night, and tell Blair I said hello.” She was gone in a flash.

I took my time getting dressed. I wanted tonight to be extra special. It had been a long time since I’d had a boyfriend on Valentine’s Day, and I honestly couldn’t believe that it was Beau Wynters.

I hated that I had to leave him in Brexley but I had to finish the article and get it turned in. There was only a small part about Dallas winning. The rest was about Beau’s harrowing ordeal. I had originally done it more fifty-fifty, but the notes I got back wanted more of the local hero and less about everything else.

Dr. Reynolds made Beau stay in bed for almost a week after he came home. I visited almost every day, and as soon as he was free, we had our first official date. Since then, we have gone out one other time and hung out at my apartment once. I couldn’t wait to see what he had in store tonight.

The doorbell rang, and I smoothed the dress down, trying to calm my nerves. I opened the door to see Beau standing there in an elegant black suit that stole every breath from my body.

“Damn, Kitten.” He was holding a single red rose. “You’re breathtaking.”

“I could say the same to you.” I swallowed the instant desire I had to forget whatever he had planned and just stay in.

Beau stepped closer and pressed his lips to mine. “Happy Valentine’s Day.” He held out the rose to me.

“Thank you, but don’t you think you’ve done enough?”

“Not even close. I have years to make up for.” He held out his arm to me. “Shall we?”

I nodded and followed him out before shutting the door and locking it behind me. His truck was nowhere to be seen. There was a long limo waiting with a gentleman holding the door open.

“Beau, this is too much.”

“Never.” He kissed my cheek and held my hand as I got inside.

I had never been in a limousine before. The interior was all dark leather that felt like silk beneath us. The seat was curved to go down one side, and across from it was an open glass bar with a bottle of champagne sitting in an ice bucket.

“This is amazing.” I couldn’t stop looking around.

“I’m glad you like it.” Beau opened the bottle and poured two glasses as we began moving. The ride was so smooth that it almost felt as if we were floating.

“Here you go, Kitten.” He handed me one of the glasses.

“Thank you.” I smiled, trying to remember when the nickname got on my nerves. “Where are we going?”

He kissed my cheek. “To the stars.”

“And where exactly is that?”

“Just relax and enjoy the ride.”

I did as he said and took a sip of the champagne. I wasn’t normally a fan, but this was amazing. The flavor was a little tart but also fruity. There was a sky roof that was open, so I leaned back into his shoulder and watched the night sky pass overhead.

We were headed toward the mountains. I could feel the incline as we got closer. There was a ski resort not too far from Bliss Haven, but I was pretty sure we were going skiing. I didn’t think we were going mountain climbing either.

Just before I was about to ask, the car stopped. “Where are we?”

The door opened, and Beau smiled. “Come have a look.” He got out and then held his hand out for me.

I put my glass down and swung my legs out before standing. In front of me was a babbling stream with lights sprinkled around the edge and an open gazebo with a cutout top.

There was a table all set up with our meal and candles to add the right amount of light to make the whole thing romantic, and space heaters to keep us warm.

My hand covered my mouth, and tears fell. No one had ever done anything like this for me. “Where are we?”

“My family has a cabin up here, and we are on the back side of the property.” He led me up to the table.

“How did you do all this?”

“With a lot of help.”

The limo drove off so we could have some privacy.

“Are staying up here?”

“Yes.” He held out the seat for me. “My truck is up at the house.” At least we had a way to get back home in the morning.

“And clothes?” I hadn’t packed clothes, but Beau was good for coming up with clothes at the last minute.

He sat across from me. “I was hoping they wouldn’t be needed.” He lifted my hand to his lips.

“Let’s see how good dinner is first.” I lifted the dome covering my plate and cracked up laughing. “Burgers?”

“I never got my double up from Grill Down.” He lifted his and smiled.

“Next, you’re going to tell me there’s ice cream for dessert.” I joked.

“I hoped you’d be dessert.” His gaze scorched me.

I picked up my burger and took a bit. “I think that could be arranged.”

Dinner was filled with heated touches and glances that left nothing to the imagination. I let my leg run up the side of his and Beau almost knocked the table over.

“Careful Kitten.”

“No.” I did it again.

“Maybe I should have saved the hamburgers for when I could really enjoy them.” He stood and covered both our plates.

“What are you doing?” I widened my eyes as if I didn’t know.

He pulled out my chair and swung me up into his arms. “Satisfying a different hunger.”

It wasn’t a long distance to the cabin and Beau covered in what felt like seconds. He slammed the door closed and turned on the small lap beside the door. That was all the light he needed.

He lowered me to my feet and backed me up against the door. His mouth hard on mine. His tongue took ownership. I pushed at his jacket and let it drop to the floor. I worked on his tie and the buttons of his shirt as he unzipped the side of my dress. The fabric drooped around my naked breast. He pushed at the top and I lowered my arms to let it fall free.

“I’ve been dreaming about you for so long this doesn’t feel real.” He stared down at my chest with such reverence that a lump formed in my throat.

“It’s real.” I put my hands on both sides of his face. “I’m real.”

He went back to kissing me as he finished pushing the dress down until it gathered on the floor around me, and I was back in his arms and being carried to the couch off to the side of the lamp.

“So beautiful.” Beau took his time laying me out like a prize. He went to his knees beside me. “I love you, Kitten.”

“I love you too.”

He kissed a trail down my neck, my chest, my stomach, and then spread me open and feasted. I arched off the couch into him. The feeling of his tongue swiping through my core driving me wild.

“That’s it, baby.” He hummed into me. “Give me my Kitty Kat.” He plunged his tongue as deep inside me as it would go. His finger worked my clit over and over in time with each stroke until I fell apart, screaming out his name.

He jumped to his feet, quickly discarding the rest of his clothes. I watched as he rolled a condom onto his hard cock with a lick of my lips.

“Don’t do that,” He breathed out. “I won’t last if you keep looking at me like you want to suck me dry.”

“Maybe I do.” I reached out and let my finger sweep over the tip. I could see drops of precum already gathering inside, and I licked my lips again.

“Kat, stop.” Beau’s voice sounded like he was in pain, but I knew it was a good pain so I kept touching him. “Kat, I mean it. I won’t make it inside you if you keep going.”

“Fine. I’ll stop for now.” I withdrew my hand.

“Don’t worry, baby.” He climbed over me and positioned himself at my entrance. “We have all night.” He pushed into me.

“Promise?”

“Absolutely.” He kissed me as his cock thrust all the way in.

“Beau.” I ripped my mouth from his.

He rocked into me at a steady pace, each thrust deeper than the last. Both of us groaned and called out to the other. Our hands and mouths reached for any touch of skin we could find. The need to be completely and totally connected driving us both.

“I’m close.” My hips raised up to take more of him. “I’m so close.”

“What do you need, Kitten?”

“Touch me.”

His hand went to my clit and brushed over it. Just that simple touch and I was flying high again. My orgasm rocketed through me. Beau didn’t stop. His speed picked up until he was shouting out his own release right along with me. We collapsed in a pile of twisted bodies and broken breaths.

“I’m hungry,” I blurted out.

Beau struggled to lift his head. “Are you kidding?”

“Well, someone didn’t let me finish my dinner.” I bit the side of my lip.

He let out a gust of laughter. “I do have to go turn off the heaters.

“Great.” I pushed him to the side and sat up. “Please tell me you brought clothes for me.”

“I have a shirt you can wear.” He wiggled his eyebrows.

“Just the shirt?” I reached for the discarded white bundle on the floor and put it over my shoulders. “It’s cold.”

“I can give you a ride.”

“I thought you just did.” I climbed over his lap. “And you were right.”

“Really?”

I leaned in close. “The rodeo isn’t where you do your best riding.” I closed my mouth over his and, this time, took him for a ride of my own. Food could wait, after all. We had more than all night. We had a lifetime.
